Vicarious Visions is a New York-based computer game developer which specialized mainly in games for handheld Nintendo hardware.
The company was founded in 1990 by brothers Karthik and Guha Bala and developed their first game for the PC in 1996, titled Synnergist. Their Game Boy game development work sprang out of a desire to find a way to fund their PC games, however their success in the handheld gaming field led to them being acquired by Activision at the start of 2005. Currently, they make the console versions of the odd-numbered installments of Activision's toy-to-life juggernaut Skylanders starting with Skylanders: Swap Force (that would be the third game of the series).
In regards to this wiki's subject matter, they were involved in creating the Nintendo DS versions of a few Transformers games which Activision released simultaneously on multiple platforms.
