== We got a serious problem. ==

== Continuity / Timeline ==
+
Some of you have probably noticed that every time there is new material (recently, those are about ROTF and TFA s3) such as new toy photos, new trailers, even unconfirmed/non official or <s>stolen</s> leak info comes out, there will be "several" users (registered or anon) who get too excited and add info in a poorly written way.
I'm trying to make some sense of how the various major continuities are handled, overview-wise. Some have their own continuity page; IDW's just got a timeline, with overview stuff shoved here and there among the individual miniseries. Some don't have anything. Some, like the G1 cartoon, are not much more than lists. The ones that exist tend to be hard to find, aren't categorized uniformly, etc... is there a master format for this stuff?{{unsigned|Repowers|12:15, 29 October 2007}}

:There is no master format for continuity pages. Please feel free to make one! It would be a good thing to have! --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 00:55, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

:: You know, I think it would be hot if once we got more timelines up, we began putting Chronology links to the timetable on the story pages. Several Dreamwave comic pages have them, and I think IDW comics should too, since IDW really isn't telling the story in a linear fashion.--[[User:Zodberg|Zodberg]] 09:36, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

:::Sounds like a good idea. --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 13:51, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

::Would it make sense to have an overview writeup at the start of each timeline, a few paragraphs or so? Or should "continuity" be a separate page? Where should a chronological list of issues go -- publisher's page, continuity page, timeline page? That's not such a problem with, say, Marvel G1, but Dreamwave's a little messier, IDW's all over the place, and gods help you if you want to sort out the mess that is Marvel UK. -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 14:29, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

:: A continuity page should have the following (in my opinion):

:: * A one-paragraph description of the continuity, not more than a few sentences long.

:: * A list of what media belongs to this continuity (which can include some stuff that's vaguely contradictory, but should exclude stuff that's way out there, like Earthforce relative to G1 comics). This can be sorted by publication order, or internal chronology, but if there's a major difference between the two, it should be spelled out.

:: * An overall description of the main events in that continuity, focusing on the events actually chronicled (not the distant past). In particular, for most continuities, changes in the leadership of either side, the changing status (living/dead, present/absent, duplicated by Straxus/encoded on a floppy, etc.)of the big two leaders (usually Optimus Prime and Megatron), any events involving Unicron or Primus, and introductions of major teams or groups of characters (Headmasters, Fuzors) should be in the summary.

:: * If necessary, a timeline, which may end up integrated with one of the above parts.

:: * Pointers to important and closely-related continuities (again, such as Earthforce), discussion of divergences, etc. [[User:JW|JW]] 15:14, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

:::All that sounds pretty good, though I wouldn't get too hung up on following individual characters too much, even the leaders. In Marvel G1, at least, they changed over on a pretty regular basis.

:::On a related note... this and a lot of other overview-type pages are really lost in the shuffle. They should be top-level pages, with everything branching off of them and linking back to them, but instead they're buried and nothing links to them. You start off reading, say, the article on [[Spotlight: Soundwave]]. Where do you go from there to find out more? The IDW issues category? That's the only link out of that page. If you're a newcomer, or even someone with an imperfect memory, how do you know what comes next? Either the individual issue pages need to link to the timeline and continuity pages, or the category page does, or... something.

:::Taking care of it on the category page might be simplest, like what's on the Category:Marvel US issues page. -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 19:12, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

:::: Yes, the site is sadly lacking in both "uplinks" and "sidelinks" for the media; links from a TV episode to the TV series, links from an issue of a comic to an overview of the comic, links from one comic to the next comic in that series, etc. [[User:JW|JW]] 19:21, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

::::: I'm still poking around and figuring out what's been done and what's needed; it might take a while to figure out how to start cleaning things up. It looks like we've got some random timelines started (still need ones for the Beast era and a few others), as well as continuity pages for some but not all of the major storylines, so I suppose each major continuity should have both kinds of pages. I wonder if there's a way to use a category or subcategory to get individual episode/issue pages to quickly link back to the main overview pages?... -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 19:28, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

:::: JW, we do have that comics nav template, though I like the comic infobox on wikipedia more. --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 20:04, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

::::: Ah... http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Comicnav ...so we do. Very useful. Now we just gotta propagate it over a few hundred comic issue... :S -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 20:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

::::: Also, the nav setup only can link up one level. So Infiltration #2 can link up to the main Infiltration page, but not to the IDW continuity page above that. Would putting a variant of this template on the main page for each miniseries, linking up to the continuity page, work instead? Then you're never more than two clicks away from an individual issue to the continuity overview. -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 20:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

:::::: That, or somehow add it to the main comicnav template, perhaps in <small>small letters</small> above the series name. I don't wanna step on anyone's toes though. --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 20:45, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

::::::: That'd make the most sense, to add a "Continuity" level to the template, or alternately a lower-end "Mini-series" option. But hell if I can make sense out of how these things work... that might be a rainy day project, figuring that out. :\ -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 20:51, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

==Continuity error?==
+
If you see any of these, you need to help the site fix it, clean it, or remove it. Because if no one does it, the site will became a mess. Thank you very much. --'''[[User:TX55|<span style= "color:#00FA9A">TX55</span>]]'''<small>''[[User talk:TX55|<span style= "color:#0000CD">TALK</span>]]''</small> 13:12, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I've noticed a few errors in episode summaries that are listed as continuity errors, but really aren't. An example from from Divide and Conquer:
+
YES SIR! -Jazz40351

<i>Optimus Prime somehow deflects a heat-seeking missile by hitting its warhead with his arm.</i>
+
{{see|Help: Contents}}

I think this would be better described as a technical error. It is an example of a technical fact being misrepresented, not an internal continuity discrepancy. However, the sections titled "Technical and/or animation glitches" seem to only contain technical glitches specifically related to cartoon production. Is this how it should be, or am I just looking at the wrong stories to judge by?
+
== NO MORE COPY FROM TFWIKI ==

If the latter, great, I'll just move the note. If the former... well, I think that's incorrect, but of course I'll go with it if that's consensus.
+
OKAY, I'm very pissed off now.

Is that consensus? --[[User:Sntint|Sntint]] 16:25, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

:I noticed a couple of things like this on the "Transport to Oblivion" article, and moved them from the "Continuity errors" section to the "Miscellaneous trivia" section, which seemed more appropriate. "Technical and/or animation glitches" should be reserved for actual production errors, and not used for things that are "errors" in the way of not actually making real-world sense. --[[User:KilMichaelMcC|KilMichaelMcC]] 16:49, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

B) '''Continuity Error:''' Airraid is present in this shot, but he's supposed to be on Earth. == Comic Issues Naming Convention ==

Okay, so [[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] and I have gone back and forth on this, so I'm putting it out in the open. He's lobbying for the format to be "Comic Name (issue number)" with the issue number only being there if it's a multi-part story. Personally, I don't care what the spotted heck we use as long as we use the same format for all the comic issues. Thus to get this noticed and foster discussion, here it is. Ideally once we decide something, it'd be great if we could get Walky or Suki to bot-edit everything so we're over and done with that.--[[User:Rosicrucian|Rosicrucian]] 00:45, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
+
The recent case is [[Jennifer Witwicky]]. Some [[Template:newpage idiot|newpage bastard]] start a crap, then some users replicated the whole page from TFwiki. Even "''*Her character brings up some interesting philosophical/ethical/religious questions that '''TFWiki''' is now forced to tackle."'' showed up.
:My reasoning is this: The title of the issue is not "Escalation, part 1", it's merely the first part of the title "Escalation". Also I don't care is we use "Escalation (part 1)", "Escalation (issue 1)" or "Escalation (#1)" as long as we're consistent. Please see my talk page for the conversation with Rosicrucian. --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 00:56, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

:I'm a little reluctant to make a universal rule on this sort of thing. Contrary to MistaTee's statement, sometimes the title of a story really ''is'' "Blah blah, Part 1". However, in cases where there is no known title (like most of the IDW issues), I think "Series Name issue #" would be best, much like what we already have for the [[:Category:Dreamwave Armada issues|Dreamwave Armada]] series (except that, of course, normally the publisher's name wouldn't be in the title, it's only there for Armada to differentiate from the Panini series). It doesn't feel right to me to have a comma or a set of parentheses. That's the model I would prefer for the IDW minis. In cases of a multi-part story which has a known title and takes place in a series of a different title, but the individual parts do not have titles, we can't use the word "issue". So... then I guess either "Story Name, part #" or "Story Name (part #)" is cool with me. I guess I have a slight preference for the comma approach, since it mirrors the way multi-part stories are titled when they are actually given titles. I agree with MistaTee that decapitalizing "part" in those cases is more correct, although it's not an issue that engenders any passion within me. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 18:25, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

::That actually makes a fair amount of sense to me. If we consider that we're treating these as multi-part stories similar to the way they are in the animated series episode summaries, it does follow that it would be "Infiltration, part 1" and so forth in absence of specific issue titles. It works for the miniseries issues, at the least.--[[User:Rosicrucian|Rosicrucian]] 15:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

:::I've sorta grown a fondness toward "issue", since each individual comic IS an issue of a larger title or miniseries. I also favor the parentheses since the word "issue" is not part of the title. When the TPB is released for Escalation, for example, it is not separated by "issue" or "part", etc, it's a free flowing story. Therefore it's simply "''Escalation'' (issue 1)". Now if the issue itself actually uses the word "part" or whatever (as in the UK strips for example) then I have no problem using it. --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 16:31, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

::::I don't think a an article title like "Escalation issue 3" causes any confusion -- the word issue and numeral 3 are clearly not part of the comic's title. It's just saying that the article is about the third issue of Escalation: "{Name of a comic series} issue {issue number}". Parentheticals in article titles, to me, are meant to differentiate between multiple entities that have the same name. The various issues of Escalation do not have the same name -- they have no names at all. "Escalation issue 3" then is a purely descriptive article title which doesn't imply anything about the title of that issue. "Escalation, part 3" avoids my parentheses concern and would be acceptable to me (it is of the form "{Name of a multipart story}, part {part number}"), but I'd rather we explicitly refer to issues as issues when possible. In self-analysis I can't think of a reason for that preference, so it may be arbitrary. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 21:50, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

:::::Personally, I ''greatly'' prefer "Comic name, issue #". Or "Comic name, part #". I really don't like the parentheses - we generally have used them solely for disambiguation, and I think we should maintain that. - [[User:RolonBolon|RolonBolon]] 05:46, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

:::::"Issue" has the great advantage of being totally unambiguous. Everyone knows exactly what an "issue" is, as opposed to a "part", a "book", or whatever else. -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 05:51, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

As some food for thought, I took a look at the inside covers to see how IDW actually parses things.

*Infiltration uses "The Transformers # _", with "Infiltration" printed a line beneath it.
+
So, I delete the page and tried to rewrite it, but it turn out "not-so-well", since I don't have much source.

*Stormbringer uses "The Transformers: Stormbringer # _".
+
That's fine. BUT I become the scapegoat since I've delete the page once, making I'm the only contributor of this page. So, I get blamed, with bad word, making me a completely plagiarizer.

*Escalation uses the "The Transformers" logo with "Escalation" underneath basically as an extension of the logo. Further down on the page is printed "Issue Number ___", with the number actually written out.

*Like Stormbringer, Devastation uses "The Transformers: Devastation # _".
+
What am I saying is, '''PLEASE DO NOT copy the whole article from TFWIKI again!''' Next time banned.

Stormbringer and Devastation have an obvious solution here. Simply drop the "The Transformers:" and just use the "Series Title # _" format. No commas, parentheticals, or extra words needed. It might be simpler to just apply this format to Infiltration and Escalation as well.
+
I'm sorry if I've being very rude in the section. --'''[[User:TX55|<span style= "color:#00FA9A">TX55</span>]]'''<small>''[[User talk:TX55|<span style= "color:#0000CD">TALK</span>]]''</small> 05:49, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

However, if we'd rather stick closer to the titles printed in the actual comics, Escalation should probably be "Escalation, Issue Number One" and so forth. I'm not quite sure on Infiltration though, as the way it's formatted in those books doesn't allow for a simple discard of the "The Transformers" part. Keeping that in could mean either "The Transformers # _, Infiltration" or maybe "The Transformers # _ (Infiltration)" --[[User:KilMichaelMcC|KilMichaelMcC]] 06:56, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
+
:TX is right, there's a reason there's two different wikis. Damned if I know what it is, but we need to actually use ''original'' material here, not shameless plagiarism. What are we, [[:Wikipedia:Denis Leary|Denis Leary]] or something? [[User:Jeep!|Jeep!]] 06:17, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

:More food for thought... I also just checked at the inside covers and discovered a rather consistent pattern. If you look at the small writing at the bottom, all the IDW "-ation" series seem to have it formatted "The Transformers: Infiltration #1", "The Transformers: Escalation #1", "The Transformers: Devastation #1", "The Transformers: Megatron Origin #1", etc. --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 08:53, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

:::Dammit, back to square 1, lol. Well on the front cover they all seem to use "issue #X" right under the IDW logo. Without the # symbol, that would be "issue X". If we can decide on the word "issue" at least, we can debate whether to format it as "issue X", "Issue X", "(issue X)" or "(Issue X)" --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 14:04, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

::::Echoing the "dammit." Personally, I really dislike the current use of (issue X), with its uncapitalized word inside parenthesis. It just looks... wrong... to me. I think "Title, issue X" would be much better, but that's just me. --[[User:KilMichaelMcC|KilMichaelMcC]] 19:56, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

:::Ah, that '''is''' a nice feature. --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 20:56, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

:I don't think pipe magic will be helpful when linking to individual issues, though. If I were going to link to Infiltration #4 I would probably want the link to state which issue it went to instead of making it look like it goes to the series' "hub" page. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 22:37, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Glancing over the more recent posts -- and thanks for chiming in, folks -- it appears that a non-parentheses style is more popular. Further, the IDW books themselves seem to vary the way they write out their titles in minor ways, although the indicia consistently use "{Series Name} #{Issue Number}". This makes me think that my previous suggestion to follow the style "Infiltration issue 4" or "Infiltration, issue 4" is going to be best. I prefer the style without a comma, but it's not a big deal to me either way. Opinions on that? --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 22:37, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Sitewide titles are rarely relevant for ranking these days and, when it comes down to it, do we want to be "A Transformers wiki" or do we want to be "Teletraan 1: The Transformers Wiki", a name which has some history to it? --[[User:Tetrap|Tetrap]] 02:33, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

::::Hi, Tetrap. Can you let me know where Wikia is ignoring you?
  +
::::I admit, I'm a little confused about not caring where the site is ranked in a search. The wiki is a collaborative project that only works when we're maximing the visibility of the site to all Transformers fans. So, if we show up in the top 5 in a search for Transformers, it's a lot better than showing up several pages into Google's search results. This wiki has some amazing content and I believe it's good enough to be one of the internet's top resources for Transformers. Everything we're doing with the front page and pagetitle and welcome templates is to help improve this experience. —[[User:Scarecroe|Scott]] ([[User talk:Scarecroe|<font size="1">talk</font>]]) 21:26, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

:::::Well, every comment in this thread so far is in favour of keeping the name Teletraan I, but you seem to instead be having an edit war with TX55 over the page titles. ==Spelling of site name==
+
No offense at all, but I have to say. I know your anxiety to help improving the Teletraan I, but you seldom ask the user'''s'''' opinion before starting. Even for the new skin, I only receive the mail which says the site will have a interaction with the ROTF film, but it just suddenly comes up. This really makes me astonished. Same as the page title and the ROTF page related.
I feel like this has been discussed repeatedly, but we still haven't actually done anything about it, and it recently came up again on [[Transformers Wiki talk:User page]]. We've taken to generally writing the name of our wiki and the computer it is named after as "Teletraan I", although the site database still uses "Teletraan-1" instead, meaning that text appears anywhere the wiki SITENAME variable is called. "Teletraan I" is the way the name appears in the original G1 episode scripts and the G1 cartoon bible. Some later but still official spellings omit one of the As, or use an arabic number instead of a roman numeral, or include a hyphen, or any combination of these things. I feel as if we should stick with the original spelling, even though that spelling was only "discovered" in the last 5 years or so and, for all I know, might not even be the most common spelling. Regardless of the spelling that we pick, I am really tired of the inconsistency between our graphic logo and the SITENAME variable, and think we should take one and go with it. I would appreciate it if other users would express their preferences. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 04:45, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I have gone ahead and changed the Sitename to "Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki" -- if you change your mind after more discussion, I can change it again. (I'd suggest leaving the "tranformers wiki" portion, however -- this improves your ranking in search engines.)

Back in the old time (both pre-Exodus and just-after-Exodus), any user, sysop, wikia staff ''would post any major change in the community portal to discuss with the community users.'' However, we didn't receive message, except for the fact that I receive emails say the site will interact with the ROTF, but I barely saw any concrete method.

I have also added "TeletraanI" and "Teletraan1" as additional domain names, so http://teletraani.wikia.com and http://teletraan1.wikia.com both redirect to http://transformers.wikia.com -- hopefully this will also help people typing "teletraan" into search engines to find you. == Elements of ideal comic issue ==
+
All I'm saying is, '''Please post any suggestion on Community Portal for discussion about any change with the local community users'''. Appreciate.

We really should standardize pages for common things like comic issues, fer instance. We should find an accepted page that is perfect in format and either use that as the standard or just build an "example page" based on that. Using [[Infiltration (issue 0)]], I propose the following:
+
--'''[[User:TX55|<span style= "color:#00FA9A">TX55</span>]]'''<small>''[[User talk:TX55|<span style= "color:#0000CD">TALK</span>]]''</small> 03:11, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
* the top of the page should have the 2 most-common covers, rendered to 250px wide, and usually with a humorous comment. Other notable covers can be listed in the Covers section below.

* The Comic Nav box should have the "pretty title" be the exact title as published, and in italics (but linked to the appropriate page)

* 2 lines below the nav box (for spacing), should be a credits listing, usually the Writer/script, Artist/Penciler and inker, Colorist, Letterer and Editor in generally that order. The titles should be bolded.

* Next should be a bullet point for ''Major characters (in order of appearance):'' (title in italics)

* Next, bullet point for ''Originally published:'', also title in italics. If published date is unknown, cover date.

* If available, a 3rd bullet for ''Continuity:''

* after this, use a spacer symbol: <nowiki>{{-}}</nowiki>

There should be 4 sections using a level-2 header: Synopsis, Quotes, Errors and Items of note. If information is unknown for any of these, please include a bullet point for

* None yet identified

Synopsis:

* General overview of the important elements of the issue's plot

Quotes:
+
{{-}}
* in quotation marks and italics. The second speaker (if there is one) should be indented. Below, using an m-dash, the speaker should be listed in Bold.

Errors
+
Don't forget, all you unhappy editors - [http://www.tfwiki.net TFWIKI.NET - The Transformers Wiki], the independant site run by the original community that made Teletraan I what it is, doesn't put ya through this sort of rigamarole! - [[Special:Contributions/86.161.254.218|86.161.254.218]] 22:30, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Items of note
+
== The new color of the Monaco skin ==
* Connections to other issues/continuities/properties/whatever

* special items

* notes about recurring sections such as a letters section, etc.

* Also under Items of note, in level-3 headers, should be a Covers section and a Advertisements section

* Covers should list the number of covers, a very brief description of each and the artist(s)

* Advertisements should at least list Transformers-related ads, although a complete list would be nice.

(By the way, I didn't know the new skin has so much red until yesterday.) Any one have same or similar thought?

: How about instead of a paragraph for characters, we use that multicolored appearances box like we do for episodes? I like that. It's easier to read. Granted, some issues it'll be huge, but that's true for the cartoon as well. :I really do think that for quotations that contain more than two text-boxes worth of dialog, a script format is just simply easier to keep track of, (and this better) also slightly more compact. Oh, and I think my page-by-page listing of character cameos in Beast Wars #1 was cool and should have been kept - even though it's not standard, but that issue did have a ton of characters. Oh, and I really don't like having headers for empty categories, so they should be left out. Since they just make the wiki look incomplete when maybe there just aren't any errors or references or whatever in the issue.--[[User:Zodberg|Zodberg]] 16:56, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

::I agree with Zodberg about going script-style if there's more than two speakers. Also, I don't see the point of indenting a second speaker -- why not just put a break in and call it a day?

::On a related note, I've seen some really confusing breakdowns of quotes from comic books, attempting to follow the speech bubble pattern by putting each bubble's worth of text on separate lines, even when it's all one speaker. This gives some strange, hard-to-read results and I'm kinda opposed to it. -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 15:54, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

::::Script-style is when you put each speaker's name before each line of dialogue:

::::'''Wheeljack:''' I didn't take 'em, Prime! It was Jazz! I don't even have a mouth!

I've always been under the impression that images {{c}} someone else should be credited ''not'' just with a note that they belong to someone else, but a ''year'', for much the same reasons we identify ''who'' the image belongs to rather than simply saying 'we don't own it, but it's fair use.' The more info we provide, the more 'seriously' the copyright is being taken. if we wipe our ass with an unadorned, <nowiki>{{fairuse}}</nowiki> clearly we don't think the holder of the copyright is ''important''... or something.

I have a script I've been poking at. It can run through every image detail page on the wiki through a regular expression and pick out which images don't have copyright owners (Hasbro or Takara-- you're supposed to ID which even if you're using <nowiki>{{hastak}}</nowiki>,) which don't have dates, and which don't have any sort of copyright notice at all. (A significant chunk of our images have no notices that they belong to someone else.) It could also drop the offending images into categories to be sorted out and properly labeled. (I imagine I'd give it Steve-o and let it do so logged in as the bot to avoid the update-floods.)

==The future of this place==
  +
It has come to my attention that the title of "Teletraan 1" has suddenly vanished from the site logo. And in its place has come.... "Transformers Wiki". Hey ho! [http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Main_Page Guess who else goes by that name]!

''A single speaker:''
+
This move smacks of desperation, and frankly, I don't blame anybody here for feeling that way. I don't know how much community has arisen here since the mass exodus of 2008, but it doesn't look like much. Most attempts to keep the place going have not been terribly successful. The number of articles here has barely grown in... what is it now, 8 months? It's gone from maybe 6,800 at the time of the split, to 7,100 today. Meanwhile, over at the new place, we're rapidly closing in on Article #9,000 - and that's despite the various setbacks and disasters we've had along the way.
<BR>"We've got to pull ourselves together and win. That's what makes us a team! Because if we don't act like team we won't be together anymore. And that could mean we'll lose."

:: -- '''Rad''' or '''Carlos''' or someone

''Two speakers:''
+
I bring this up not because I want to see this site give up or anything, but because -- as Derik pointed out a few months ago -- this site is currently drifting rudderless, and it's drifting along a path that the new site has already forged. This site is currently trying to do what TFWiki.net already does, and in the absence of the community that exists there, it's failing miserably.
<BR>"So you're saying that if we work together, we'll be more of a team? Golly, I never thought of it that way."

<BR>"Uhhhhh?"

:: -- '''Carlos''' and '''Hot Shot''', the latter drooling.

''Three or more speakers or lines:''
+
I would much rather see the site choose a direction of its own instead. And there is a clear and even EASY direction it could follow, one that would answer long-standing complaints about TFWiki.net from certain quarters of the fandom: Play it straight. Rework this site as a non-humor-inclusive wiki. Make it an actual ALTERNATIVE to TFWiki.net, rather than a slowly-shriveling duplicate husk, coasting on the legacy of a community that has departed.
<BR>'''Rad:''' "I know if we keep trying we can do this! We musts succeed! For the good!"

<BR>'''Alexis:''' "That's the spirit. If we try then we can win!"

<BR>'''Hot Shot:''' "So what you're saying is... huh."

<BR>'''Carlos:''' "Hey you guys, wait up!!"

<BR>'''Hot Shot:''' "I guess what Carlos is saying is true. We'll have to give it our best shot. What do you think, Leader-1?"

<BR>'''Optimus:''' "I think that we have to win in order to defeat Megatron. And GET THOSE MINI-CONS!"

<BR> -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 23:24, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

  +
Of course, I doubt this will happen. Frankly, I think the people who do this complaining don't have the cajones to stand up and actually do anything about it, let alone come together to form a community and take collective action. But, in case I'm wrong, consider this a gauntlet thrown down.

  +
This site will never surpass TFWiki.net so long as it continues to float aimlessly in TFWiki's wake. But if it heads into new territory instead, it might actually come to serve a purpose once more. -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 01:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

:I've been doing it this way for months, because the old style kind of blows. Maybe somebody should edit the Help page so we aren't giving newcomers the wrong idea about what we expect in a episode article? It creates a fucking shitload of work to correct an episode article if we go around telling people to do things the wrong way and then we have to fix it ourselves.
+
:I dunno, man. I like editing here. And I like the humour. Yeah, the work here's pretty frustrating sometimes but overall I don't feel the need to change the overall vibe. [[User:Jeep!|Jeep!]] 21:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

What I wanted to know is: What is HasTak's position and (presumably) thus ''our'' position on the officialness of the widely available Korean releases of ''[[Beast Wars II]]'' and ''[[Beast Wars Neo]]''? I'm sure you know the ones I'm talking about; you often see [[Big Convoy]], [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]], [[Magnaboss]], [[Megastorm]] etc in these Korean releases. They come in large windowless boxes with pimp box art and are packaged in moulded white plastic trays, and as far as I can tell the toys are absolutely identical to the Japanese releases.

==Europe/Japan/etc-"only" character categories==
+
I've notice there are some user who copy contents from Wikipedia. If anyone find out, please removed them and give the user <nowiki>{{copycat}}</nowiki>. Thanks
So I was thinking about this today... how hard would it be to change these categories a bit? IDW and the Club are pulling characters once found only in Japan and Europe left and right (and 3H grabbed a couple to boot), so "only" is a bit of a misnomer, but the category group is still, I think, an important one to have. Perhaps "-only" should become "-origin", indicating characters whose first appearances were in non-US-first fiction/toylines, regardless of later US appearances? Could a bot handle this change? --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 20:06, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

:"Japanese-original characters", "European-original characters", "South-American-original characters", mayhaps? --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 22:58, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

::I agree with you strongly. Thus we can make something not to be confused later day. (e.g. I've already heard someone say Lio Convoy originate in IDW continuity. Gosh...) By the way, if we really use "-origin", I think Car Robot/RiD characters can be also in this category. --[[User:TX55|TX55]] 00:37, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

::: Would the original GeeWon characters be Japan-origin as well? Is this toy-origin or fiction-origin? --[[User:MistaTee|MistaTee]] 15:17, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

::::That's a really good question. I think that, since A) this is a fiction-oriented wiki, and 2) "toy originated in Japan, fiction originated in America" is the "default" for the core characters, then we should use the "fiction-origin" definition, unless the character ''only'' has a toy.

::::Um, but what then do we do if a character is produced as ''only'' a toy, ''only'' in Japan, and then ten years later his first fictional appearance is in America? [[User:JW|JW]] 15:24, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

:::::Where applicable, consider the Japanese tech specs/bio its first fictional appearance. Even the ''Operation: Combination'' Micromasters and such had minimal write-ups in ''TV Magazine'' before the reissue bios gave some of them more personality. Otherwise, note the toy existed under a given name in Japan, but did not exist as a ''character'' until brought into U.S. fiction. Mind you, the only Japan-original toys that come to my mind as qualifying are the limited-edition Mini-Cons/Microns. There are doubtless many I'm forgetting.--[[User:Apcog|Apcog]] 15:36, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

::::::I think that's overcomplicating the issue. The Boosters and limited Microns that are getting first-time Club bios would fall under the Japan-origin deal. I mean, just because a toy doesn't have a bio, that doesn't mean it's not a character... it just doesn't have any character''ization''. It's still an individual. Otherwise, even several Japanese-ONLY characters wouldn't qualify, like Shuffler or the Godmaster Warriors... and most of the South American guys wouldn't qualify for their own national-origin category. The ''Diaclone / Microman''-origin TFs from 84/85 would ''not'' fall under this because their premier ''as Transformers'' was in the US. One could make a case for the ''Car Robots'' characters being in the category, but the ''RID'' additions to the line would not. --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 17:20, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

::::Got it, thanks! ;D --[[User:TX55|TX55]] 12:19, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, I figured that "how we want to do them" would be to basically take every instance of "(nation/market)-only characters" and simply change them to "(nation/market)-origin characters". It'd really only be a category name-change, effectively. We would probably then add a few guys to it, like Stepper-Ricochet and the ''Car Robots'' original dudes. That's about it. --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 06:15, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

:There are a lot of potential wordings, though. A few have already been mentioned in this discussion. "Japan-origin characters", "Japanese-origin characters", "Characters of Japanese origin", "Japan-original characters"...? I kind of prefer a "characters of..." form because it sounds more natural, but it's also wordier. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 04:41, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

::It also runs counter to all the other "________ characters" categories we have, like "cartoon-only characters", "Masterforce characters", etc.

::I think I like the "Japanese-original characters" wording. It's a bit less ambiguous. Of course, the category page would need a slight "these appeared FIRST as characters outside of US stuff, even though they may later have been put in US stuff"

disclaimer (if there isn't one already). --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 06:05, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

::::**(sub)Category:Masterforce characters

::::**(sub)Category:Victory characters

::::This is a bad idea; not everyone in each of those series is J-origin. In fact, the overwhelming majority of, say, Headmasters characters are not. Also, why would we have a "Car Robots characters" category? There's already an RID category, and everyone in ''that'' sure isn't J-origin. All this is supposed to be is a category rename to accommodate the international borrowing that's become more prevalent in the last year or so while retaining the point of the categories; noting characters that weren't created by/for Hasbro US series. --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 12:41, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

:::Oops, I forgot to make it clear. I didn't mean all characters from "Category:The Headmasters characters" are J-origin. But some characters such as Raiden, Bodiless Headmasters and some others are surely J-origin. Umm, but there is still some problems as you said, it's really difficult to separate FortMax, Chromedome and others from the category. And there's similar issue for CR guys.

But today, I see them the other way round, and no indication that the personalization is active (I cleared my cache, cookies and search history earlier today while checking a bug report elsewhere). So either the search has changed again, or the personalization is more hidden. Either way, I would still say that anything we can change (like the page title text) that will help keep this wiki high in search results has got to be helpful to the wiki :) -- [[User:Sannse|sannse]]<staff /> ([[User talk:sannse|talk]]) 21:47, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

::::::Yeah. Especially since it's harmful to the TF fans if they're clicking on the first Google result and arriving at the TF wiki that's out of date, missing huge chunks of information, and full of vandalism and misinformation besides (in other words, '''this''' wiki), instead of going to the other wiki that currently has much more complete and accurate info.

Yes, I've seen it. Page ranking is a serious problem, but not the most. The biggest problem is the quality of the site (my opinion is similar to others', so I didn't post much), and we can't lose the site's name "Teletraan-1". --'''[[User:TX55|<span style= "color:#00FA9A">TX55</span>]]'''<small>''[[User talk:TX55|<span style= "color:#0000CD">TALK</span>]]''</small> 02:22, October 30, 2009 (UTC)

:Hypothetically speaking, advertising gets more attention in the short term, but if the actual site leaves too much to be desired, that increase won't last. On the other hand, devoting attention to bettering the quality of the site means that flaws are corrected, visitors are impressed, they tell their friends, their friends visit the site, and in the long term we get a steady increase that lasts much longer. I edit for spelling and grammar... sorry that my dictionary is set for British English... That is the language I was taught in... I see my changes I made for grammar and spelling is reverted to how it was.... "Sideswipe fights alongside Ironhide when Sentinel Prime betrays the Autbots, and watches as Ironhide is killed by Sentinel." If u check this sentence for grammar and spelling, I am sure you will find something wrong w/it... If my spelling is reverted, back to its original then I will not bother to make spelling and grammar changes... It makes the page look inconsistent and sloppy, apparently, someone cannot spell or it is a typo error. I do minor edits, nothing more... I just will not bother anymore... the articles can have all the spelling mistakes and grammar issues associated w/them... I would be disappointed if I were reading this site for the first time and seeing all the mistakes in the pages. :( From Stargazer1970

Then when I got the information back (in an email, Sideswipe movie) that all the British English was used for that selection was reverted to original by Byakuya600; I think this individual needs to be updated about the use of British English, spelling and grammar updates... I do not like to read spelling and grammar mistakes. The summary of the edit is: Latest revision as of 06:53, 2011 July 10 (edit) (undo)Byakuya600(Talk | contribs)(Undo revision 359663 by Stargazer1970 (talk)). Certain words like Colours were changed back to colors. I used mould and it was changed back to original mold. Among othre words I have used. I do not appreciate my editing changed back to the original way it looked, as I feel it looks sloppy. Byakuya600 need to be mentioned about this... I was not happy to see all that I have done in the past w/this site is changed back to original... It seems when I do something like that it has always reverted to original... Someone else can edit for spelling and grammar mistakes... I am done... this has happened far too many times. From: --[[User:Stargazer1970|Stargazer1970]] 03:30, July 11, 2011 (UTC)Stargazer1970

I think we should stop using the term "Humanoid mode" and go back to using the term "Robot mode". by way of explanation, characters in several transformers series (including, but not limited to, Beast Wars and Animated) have spoken the term "robot mode" in canon. It was disabled at this wiki because it was being abused in a way that is against our policies. ProtectSite was not meant to be used non-stop in that fashion. It is for short time protections (that is why it has a short time limit), that other solutions cannot handle in a feasible/reasonable way. If you would have contacted Wikia support, with information of what was going on, we could have changed the wiki's configs to make similar protections permanent rather then have to manually enact them every 12 hours. I stumbled here looking for information / lists of Transformers Characters - you see, I am a Mom trying to fulfill her 4-year old son's repeated requests for X-mas that if he's good, Santa might bring him a "Daj-i-tay-ter" Transformer. I have searched for "Agitator" thinking he's massacred the character's name. No-go. If anyone who is obviously more Transformer literate than myself might help me decipher what Transformer my son is looking for, you'll make one 4-year old potentially VERY happy this holiday season. He did provide the description that this one has a "silver gun on his arm". Much appreciation in advance.
  +
-Desperately seeking Transformers "Mom"...
  +
  +
:Judging from your description, I'd say that "Daj-i-tay-ter" is a mispronunciation of "Devastator". As for the one with the "silver gun on his arm", that would be either the recently-released Buster Optimus Prime (Not yet available in North America) or Megatron. I hope this helps. ::It would help if you had provided relevant links, Xeno the Hedgehog, and how did you come up with Buster Optimus Prime? How would a 4 year old child know about a toy that is only available in Japan?
  +
  +
:::To answer your first question, Buster Optimus Prime's fuel tanks can detach from his back and combine to form an ion blaster that attaches to his right hand. Furthermore they are silver in color. To answer your second question, pics and video reviews of the figure have been sprouting up all over the net as of late. It's also possible that the kid could have seen a trailer for RotF with Prime wielding his blaster, or the film itself, and was referring to the character, rather than an actual figure. I did not provide links, in part because I have not had much practice in doing so, and in part because I was under the impression that she only wanted clarification regarding the characters' identities. Besides, if she spent enough time searching to find this wiki, there is little doubt in my mind that she would continue to search elsewhere once she received the clarification she requested. ::Hi Desperately seeking Transformers "Mom". There are several toys made for Constructicon Devastator as seen [http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Devastator_(ROTF) here]

  +
  +
::You ''may'' be able to find this very large toy for a lower price at Walmart and such retailers, but I would question buying such a large toy for a 4 year old child.
  +
  +
::Possibly a more suitable option is the Mega Power Bots Constructicon Devastator, which is a toy made for younger children:

::*[http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?BR=496&SBR=750&ID=24883 Mega Power Bots Constructicon Devastator at Hasbro Toy Shop: $34.99]
  +
  +
::Again, prices at Walmart and other discount department stores may be lower than the recommended retail price.
  +
  +
::As for the one with the silver gun on his arm, I would recommend searching for "Megatron" on hasbrotoyshop.com and see what suits your price range, and then see if that toy is available for a lower price elsewhere. Good luck! --[[User:FFN|FFN]] 15:42, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

For some reason, I've been thanked for editing Megatron's page here. But I didn't. Really! Is there an explanation/reason for this?

For future reference, it is mandatory to sign your posts with four ~'s. To answer your question, the message you received is automated; everybody gets one upon submitting their first edit on the wiki, and every wiki is programed that way. My guess is that you clicked "edit" and then clicked "submit", which registers as an edit to the article, regardless of whether you actually made any changes. ==Suggestion==

I'm a frequent user at Tfwiki (who before it went up, went here) and I thought I should mention to you guys: they seem to be starting to advertise the new War for Cybertron, transformers game on their main page. At one point they were doing so with Transformers Animated. Heck, it seems the image on their main page (the logo one) will change based on whichever series is popular at the time, and even changes to a different character when you hit refresh or go to the page again. Just a suggestion, but ROTF is kinda..old now. Its fine to advertise it, but might I suggest also advertising War for Cybertron, as it is far more up to date of a choice? Just a suggestion, do what you like with it--[[User:Chipmonk328|Chipmonk328]]

:I actually prefer the ones where they are in a standing pose. For example, Live-Action-Film Optimus Prime, to me, commands more respect in the image where he is standing than he does in the photo where he is in a battle pose. The standing position also allows the viewer to more easily look at the character in question and mentally reverse engineer them, as nothing is obscured. Furthermore, an action pose isn't always necessary to portray the personality of the character in the image. When you look at decepticons such as RiD Scourge, his color scheme and red-eyed glare tell all that there is to say. The same could be said of TFU The Fallen. Presence, not action, is the key to leaving a strong impression. [[User:Xeno the Hedgehog|Xeno the Hedgehog]] 04:01, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

::Possibly I didn't make myself clear and wrote the last paragraph out of frustration. I must say you have the point. In my opinion, I think it depends, some needs action (like [[Optimus Prime (G1)]] or [[Devastator (ROTF)]]), while some needs standing (but with some "effects" if possible, like [[Optimus Prime (Movie)]]). --'''[[User:TX55|<span style= "color:#00FA9A">TX55</span>]]'''<small>''[[User talk:TX55|<span style= "color:#0000CD">TALK</span>]]''</small> 11:14, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

:::To be honest, those may not be the best examples. G1 Prime, like all Primes that succeeded him, commands respect simply by being Optimus Prime, and Devastator is already imposing due to his large size and mismatched limbs; just the fact that his body is asymmetrical is already enough to make him stand out. I will agree that there are some characters deserving of action poses, but I think such poses should be reserved for those characters whose personalities it would emphasize, such as Blurr. Someone is making their rounds nominating one batch of Transformer articles after another for deletion. First the planet articles were eliminated, now the spaceship articles are all nominated, plus various characters, and perhaps more[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Transformers#Articles_for_deletion]. Anyway, it'd be nice for fans looking for information on the Wikipedia to be redirected here. It meets all the requirements to be considered a valid external link. I just added a link to the Ark article from there to here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ark_%28Transformers%29 and I'm thinking if people went through and added links to every Transformer article there is, you'd get more traffic here. == Do you care? ==
  +
Alright, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but seriously, how many contributors to this wiki actually care about it? For over three years now, this wiki has been stagnant, and most of it's regular contributors have left, over to tfwiki.net. The only way this wiki is going to stop being a laughingstock is if you become an actual ''alternative'' to tfwiki, not some half-assed annoying little brother of it. I know that's been said before, but really, it seems like ''no one gives a damn!'' How about you guys completely ditch the humor, update all your pages, and give the site a face lift! And before anyone bitches about how much work that is, tfwiki has gone through hell before, with the Bookworm crash, and yet all it's contributors, who actually ''care'', brought it back, and better than before. So if you guys want to be a reputable Transformers source, like tfwiki, it's time to wake up, shed your pride, and get to work. -- [[Special:Contributions/71.187.50.153|71.187.50.153]] 18:41, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

I haven't seen this message because it got flooded in bunches of edits. As I mentioned somewhere before, some captions from old pages have been hidden, while some of the old pages have been asked for de-funny ({{[[Template:Excessivesarcasm|Excessivesarcasm]]}}) As for the new page and new file, (since ''Transformers Animated'' late seasons), the funny has been less and less.
  +
  +
And, the '''''biggest problem''''' of the Wiki is not funny, BUT the quantity and quality. Everybody knows the article is far less than TFwiki, and <s>every</s> most of the time an user created a new page, either it is nearly nothing, nor a copied article, not to mention the vandalism, which often shows up.
  +
  +
The other major issue, related to the problem above, is that '''<s>Nobody</s> Few people read the [[:Category:Help|guideline]] before editing'''. This is why the quality is "not-so-good". --'''[[User:TX55|<span style= "color:#00FA9A">TX55</span>]]'''<small>''[[User talk:TX55|<span style= "color:#0000CD">TALK</span>]]''</small> 02:39, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

===What needs to be done?===
  +
With the permission of an administrator here, I would be very happy to have all of the above redlinked wikis interlanguage linked to this wiki, making them the official foreign-language counterparts. They'd be more accessible to users of those languages, as a result.
  +
  +
You can only link one from each language, so one Polish and one Russian wiki. My suggestion is bolded.
  +
  +
You can go ahead and do this yourself, or you can give me permission to take care of it- I do this for a lot of wikis and I know what I'm doing. The Funny stays?

Funny or not? Please post here instead of this page or Talk:Main Page.

We got a serious problem. Edit

Some of you have probably noticed that every time there is new material (recently, those are about ROTF and TFA s3) such as new toy photos, new trailers, even unconfirmed/non official or stolen leak info comes out, there will be "several" users (registered or anon) who get too excited and add info in a poorly written way.

If you see any of these, you need to help the site fix it, clean it, or remove it. Because if no one does it, the site will became a mess. Thank you very much. --TX55TALK 13:12, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

YES SIR! -Jazz40351

NO MORE COPY FROM TFWIKI Edit

OKAY, I'm very pissed off now.

PLEASE DO NOT copy the whole article from TFWIKI again! I don't care what the GFDL thing, JUST DON'T COPY ANY ARTICLES!

The recent case is Jennifer Witwicky. Some newpage bastard start a crap, then some users replicated the whole page from TFwiki. Even "*Her character brings up some interesting philosophical/ethical/religious questions that TFWiki is now forced to tackle." showed up.

So, I delete the page and tried to rewrite it, but it turn out "not-so-well", since I don't have much source.

That's fine. BUT I become the scapegoat since I've delete the page once, making I'm the only contributor of this page. So, I get blamed, with bad word, making me a completely plagiarizer.

What am I saying is, PLEASE DO NOT copy the whole article from TFWIKI again! Next time banned.

I'm sorry if I've being very rude in the section. --TX55TALK 05:49, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

TX is right, there's a reason there's two different wikis. Damned if I know what it is, but we need to actually use original material here, not shameless plagiarism. What are we, Denis Leary or something? Jeep! 06:17, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Site theme Edit

Uh, hey! Did I miss a discussion somewhere about changing the site theme? I looked in the usual places, but no mention of it at all. --Tetrap 12:04, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually, Scott have sent me some messages to me about this two months ago. I didn't know the solid way to "improving the search" til yesterday. --TX55TALK 18:47, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I was kinda surprised when I saw that the whole site scheme had changed without any apparent discussion. At least someone knew about it, but I would have expected there to be some sort of consultation with the user base about it. I mean the new theme looks great and all... but no one thought to say "Hey, we're thinking of changing the site to look like this screenshot. What does everyone think?" --Tetrap 21:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I personally liked the old version more, 'cuz the purple was vaguely Decepticon-y, whereas the red makes me think "OMFG AUTOBOTS", but it's still good....I'll most assuredly get used to it though.--KaotikusNemesis 11:05, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I figured it was always changed to reflect the newest continuity thing, and the movie faction symbol shows it to be current with the new film coming out, just as the old theme was very Animated-centric. Makes sense to me. Jeep! 01:02, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but at least last time it was changed there was some discussion beforehand. And the new page title "Transformers 2, Animated, Toys" isn't even accurate - Revenge of the Fallen doesn't have "2" in the title! --Tetrap 04:06, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't know why the staff mentions the theme modification only to me and I'm sorry I forgot to tell everybody here if this caused troublesome issue. As for the "Transformers 2", it is because for the search engine such as Google, Yahoo, Metacrawler much more easily to find the site by just typing "Transformers 2" in the search box. Just like what happen to Terminator Wiki recently. --TX55TALK 14:30, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Page nameEdit

Moved from User talk:TX55

Hiya. We need to keep the pagetitle without the Teletran stuff in there. It's hurting our pagerank in Google, and we want people to be able to find us. We're trying to keep valuable keywords in that space, and Teletran isn't one of them. If you've got any questions, please let me know. —Scott (talk) 17:37, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I know it's about the search key word, however, it would also make the site seems no longer "Teletraan I" anymore. That's why I keep the site name. Also, I'd like to hear about other user's opinion here. :D --TX55TALK 01:52, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Stuffing titles with keywords is an old trick, and most search engines are wise to it now. Google will see we have "Transformers 2" in the title of every page and ignore it. Sitewide titles are rarely relevant for ranking these days and, when it comes down to it, do we want to be "A Transformers wiki" or do we want to be "Teletraan 1: The Transformers Wiki", a name which has some history to it? --Tetrap 02:33, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Tetrap; pagerank is a stupid reason to change the name of the site. To me, this wiki is, always has been, and always will be Teletraan-I. Xeno the Hedgehog 06:29, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
And I'd complain about the fact that the main page has been completely changed, with no soliciting of input or otherwise consulting the community, but there doesn't seem to be any point, since Wikia are ignoring us anyway. --Tetrap 21:18, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Tetrap. Can you let me know where Wikia is ignoring you?
I admit, I'm a little confused about not caring where the site is ranked in a search. —Scott (talk) 21:26, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, every comment in this thread so far is in favour of keeping the name Teletraan I, but you seem to instead be having an edit war with TX55 over the page titles. And I never said I didn't care about ranking but, as I did say, Google doesn't place much value in page titles which are the same sitewide. --Tetrap 01:06, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

No offense at all, but I have to say. I know your anxiety to help improving the Teletraan I, but you seldom ask the users' opinion before starting. Even for the new skin, I only receive the mail which says the site will have a interaction with the ROTF film, but it just suddenly comes up. This really makes me astonished. Same as the page title and the ROTF page related.

Back in the old time (both pre-Exodus and just-after-Exodus), any user, sysop, wikia staff would post any major change in the community portal to discuss with the community users. However, we didn't receive message, except for the fact that I receive emails say the site will interact with the ROTF, but I barely saw any concrete method.

I know the server of this site is under Wikia, but how the site works mainly depends on the users in this community. We decide how will our site work. We won't say "We want leave." But at least this place is where we are active, and we know how it works. This just like "Hey, we have a beneficial action to your community"
and then "(Few months after) Hey! Why are you drilling my sidewalks?!"
"Oh, we are making the road of the community wider to make more cars to drive on it."
"Wait, nobody tell me about this! They just tell me there will be a beneficial action to us!"

All I'm saying is, Please post any suggestion on Community Portal for discussion about any change with the local community users. Appreciate.

--TX55TALK 03:11, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Don't forget, all you unhappy editors - TFWIKI.NET - The Transformers Wiki, the independant site run by the original community that made Teletraan I what it is, doesn't put ya through this sort of rigamarole! - 86.161.254.218 22:30, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

The new color of the Monaco skin Edit

Um, I think we should change the color of the back ground and the red 'cause I really feel much uncomfortable for my eyes. (By the way, I didn't know the new skin has so much red until yesterday.) Any one have same or similar thought?

Plus, there are many colors waiting for us. I personally think colors such as gold may be good. --TX55TALK 14:42, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Go to your preferences, click on the "Skin" tab, untick "Let the admins override my skin choice." and pick one of the infinitely more preferable skins listed above it. Much better! --Tetrap 20:54, December 3, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, but I know this method. However, this will lack the characteristic of the site, since the site logo is cooperate with the skin in-use-now. --TX55TALK 09:34, December 4, 2009 (UTC)
TransformersSampleskin

Though I don't like Megan Fox, BUT this skin is A-LOT MUCH MORE BETTER than the current skin. I'd like to have a little vote before I ask a Wikia Staff to change our skin into this. --TX55TALK 04:57, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

VoteEdit

  • TX55 vote YES for change into this skin. --TX55TALK 04:57, December 11, 2009 (UTC)
  • I vote the Wikia Gaming skin. Xeno the Hedgehog 17:44, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

Requesting for helpEdit

I've changed the skin, but I met two problem which I don't know how to fix them:

  1. The background is a loop instead just stays at the top
  2. the Metal bar only appear as the background of "Summary, Save page Preview, Minor edit, Watch this page" instead of "Edit this page, History, Move, Watch".

Does any Wikia staff know how to fix it? Thanks a lot! --TX55TALK 13:26, December 20, 2009 (UTC)

You could try adding "background-repeat: no-repeat !important;" to the body tag to fix the first issue... --Tetrap 19:46, December 20, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, but it seems to not work. :) --TX55TALK 05:13, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

  1. What Tetrap said, works perfectly (body { background-repeat: no-repeat; }).
  2. change .color1, .color1 a { background-image:url(http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/transformers/images/d/db/Metalbar.png); }
to
.color1, #page-bar { background-image:url(http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/transformers/images/d/db/Metalbar.png); }
Osetc 21:35, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, the first is solved. :D However, the second remains unsolved, the metal bar still only appears in"Summary, Save page Preview, Minor edit, Watch this page"; "Edit this page, History, Move, Watch" and the several boxes on the left side (search box, Wikianswer) remain blue, is there anything I to type? Thanks. ;-D

The future of this placeEdit

It has come to my attention that the title of "Teletraan 1" has suddenly vanished from the site logo. And in its place has come.... "Transformers Wiki". Hey ho! Guess who else goes by that name!

Of course, I doubt this will happen. Frankly, I think the people who do this complaining don't have the cajones to stand up and actually do anything about it, let alone come together to form a community and take collective action. But, in case I'm wrong, consider this a gauntlet thrown down.

This site will never surpass TFWiki.net so long as it continues to float aimlessly in TFWiki's wake. But if it heads into new territory instead, it might actually come to serve a purpose once more. -- Repowers 01:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I dunno, man. I like editing here. And I like the humour. Yeah, the work here's pretty frustrating sometimes but overall I don't feel the need to change the overall vibe. Jeep! 21:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, then, dude... at the risk of sounding like an editor-poacher... why don't you just come over to TFWiki.Net? More active website, nearly two thousand more articles, with hundreds more articles in better condition that this websites, and the humor and fun tone that you enjoy about this place... but with actual admins to police the place better (no slight against TX55, he's doing what he can, but it's an uphill battle.) - 81.157.115.155 23:06, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, I know you weren't against me at all (really) since it's true they are really better. Since my work here is simply (but work-taking because there are still one sysop now) keeping the site from getting broken apart from those-who-don't-know-how-to-edit-appropriately (TWDnKHTEA). And what's more, frankly speaking (contents hide) Anyway, in short, what I am working on here is to assure there won't fall apart by TWDnKHTEA and there will still be new info added. :) --TX55TALK 02:45, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I guess I could work on both, I suppose. Jeep! 23:40, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
We'd be happy to have you! -- Repowers 02:43, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I think the fact so few people on this wiki bother to comment in the community portal speaks volumes about the lack of regular contributors on this site. --FFN 15:55, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I dont think we should stop being funny. The only reason i use this site is because my stupid computer/laptop has a school blocking system on it which blocks tfwiki--STALL MAN 21:47, November 13, 2011 (UTC)

Image name format policy Edit

My God, I just find I forgot to mention this. In order to make the images easily to, um, identified, I would like everyone can upload file with a name format like the following:

  • Comic interior
    • franchise-character name-issue name-misc.jpg
      • g1-kup-ahm5-cigar.jpg

If anyone see this, please have a reply, thanks. ;-D --TX55TALK 02:59, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Notices Edit

Contents copied from Wikipedia

I've notice there are some user who copy contents from Wikipedia. If anyone find out, please removed them and give the user {{copycat}}. Thanks

ROTF page

I believe there will be lots of eager user who want to edit ROTF-related page.

It's a good thing, but "Out-universe" writting and poor contents (no capitals or words with lot mistakes like "int oteh (into the)".) should be revised/removed when anyone spots it.

Thanks for your helping and cooperation. ;-D --TX55TALK 07:32, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

A letter to all users on Teletraan I Edit

Dear users on Teletraan I:

Hello everyone, this is TX55, one of the administrators of the Teletraan I as you know. I got something to inform you: I need to leave for a while because there are things waiting for me to work them out. So, I'll become only work on non-(main) pages, such as:
  • Deleting files which don't qualify the standard and, if possible, re-uploading them;
  • Deleting pages; tagging articles with {{stub}} or {{cleanup}};
  • Cleaning up new articles;
  • Blocking vandalists;
  • Some bot task.
I'll still poke on (main) pages, excluding those related to Movie, Animated, War for Cybertron / Prime, every once in a while. In other words, I may not be able to clean up or rewrite contents in-universely. I'll convince the Wikia staff to add the new admins and rollback users as soon as possible since the site is really in need of them. Hope to be here regularly and see you more often again. :)
Yours Sincerely, TX55TALK 09:40, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

I'll try to look after the place until you get back, man. Take care! Jeep! 19:03, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, Jeep! ;D --TX55TALK 02:29, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Wiki name? Edit

Dare I enquire, why exactly has this wiki changed names? Teletraan I was so much cooler. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.21.174.164 (talkcontribs).

For some search key words reason. We want the old name back, too. However, the site name will be back . --TX55TALK 02:29, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Long story short: This place hardly has any regular editors and the content hasn't significantly changed since September 2008 (when the original staff and most of the editors left), so Wikia attempts to get more google hits than tfwiki.net by renaming itself. I don't think it has actually worked. --FFN 19:14, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Which intrigues me, if it doesn't work why not change back? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.21.174.164 (talkcontribs).

Though I like to, but I think maybe we should wait until the ROTF wave pass, say, maybe August at fast. --TX55TALK 13:18, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Neener neenerEdit

Moved from Talk:Main Page

TFwiki.net has overtaken Wikia (and Wikipedia) in Google ranking. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW. --67.149.197.71 01:31, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Interestingly, this edit is probably a strong contributor to that. As Scarecroe said back in June, the page title is very important for Google rank. -- sannse@fandom (talk) 18:34, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, because it's totally not because TFWiki has a more dedicated, knowledgable base of administrators and a more dedicated, knowledgable user population and a faster fact-checking process and a quicker reaction to vandalism, not to mention a simpler, more user-friendly layoutand far, far, far less obstrusive ads. Totally not. It's all just the name.
Huh, when I did a search just now, TFWiki.net was still in third place behind Wikipedia and this site. Also anon poster is a teeny bit rude. --Tetrap 20:20, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Google takes into account your past history - so if you click on this wiki in your search results, it will get a boost in the results when you search again. And yes, our anonymous friend is not... friendly :)
But more importantly, I would suggest changing the page title back. It will take a while to see if it has any effect, but certainly seems worth doing to see if it has the effect I (and our SEO expert) think it will. -- sannse@fandom (talk) 02:15, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
Then is it possible that TFWiki.net is coming up first for the OP because they're clicking on it in the Google results? --Tetrap 20:37, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
It's possible... but I did try searching when this was first mentioned and found a link to turn off that part of the search. With that off, I saw tkf.net above transformers.wikia.com. But today, I see them the other way round, and no indication that the personalization is active (I cleared my cache, cookies and search history earlier today while checking a bug report elsewhere). So either the search has changed again, or the personalization is more hidden. Either way, I would still say that anything we can change (like the page title text) that will help keep this wiki high in search results has got to be helpful to the wiki :) -- sannse@fandom (talk) 21:47, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
Sannse, the fact that you and Wikia are trying to fix this via a technical means smacks of a corporate solution to a problem within this wiki's community. As the anonymous user there says, TF Wiki.net's community is just more knowledgeable and dedicated, because, hey, they were the ones who wrote most of the stuff here before Wikia pissed them off and they left. --FFN 19:09, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
It seems this wiki is back at the top of the results, even without the page title change. But I've adjusted it anyway... it will hopefully help -- sannse@fandom (talk) 23:14, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
Wouldn't it make more sense to improve the wiki instead of just fiddling around with page titles? It's like trying to cure a disease outbreak by changing the "Welcome to Townsville" sign. -- Semysane 23:48, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah. Especially since it's harmful to the TF fans if they're clicking on the first Google result and arriving at the TF wiki that's out of date, missing huge chunks of information, and full of vandalism and misinformation besides (in other words, this wiki), instead of going to the other wiki that currently has much more complete and accurate info.
If I were you, I'd worry much, much less about wasting time gaming Google to promote a currently trashy and useless site, and much, much more about actually listening to your users and putting in some actual hard work to help develop this wiki into something actually worthy of being the "top" TF wiki again. --72.79.213.169 10:28, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

PagetitleEdit

Continued from User talk:TX55

Yes, I've seen it. Page ranking is a serious problem, but not the most. The biggest problem is the quality of the site (my opinion is similar to others', so I didn't post much), and we can't lose the site's name "Teletraan-1". --TX55TALK 02:22, October 30, 2009 (UTC)

Hypothetically speaking, advertising gets more attention in the short term, but if the actual site leaves too much to be desired, that increase won't last. On the other hand, devoting attention to bettering the quality of the site means that flaws are corrected, visitors are impressed, they tell their friends, their friends visit the site, and in the long term we get a steady increase that lasts much longer. Xeno the Hedgehog 02:43, October 30, 2009 (UTC)

Article quality Edit

Like my message said, I seldom patrol pages related Movie and Animated franchises. However, something suddenly stoke my mind and I took a look on three pages. Then I found something, um, you can call it horrible.

Vandalism, layout bastard, Out-universe writing, redundant stuff. And a ROTF section...
I don't know how to comment it.

Can someone do somthing about Mindwipe (G1). I quote 'Mindwipe once got really mad at Scorponok for allowing Starscream back onto the Decepticons, so when Starscream went AWOL, Mindwipe ran off and joined Starscream.' I don't know much about that so... --User: Unregistered contributer

Well, that's what happened. - 92.41.47.207 12:34, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

British English is welcome as well. I remember somewhere in the policies mentions it, too. That's why I never edit or revert any British edit. --TX55TALK 02:13, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

From: --Stargazer1970 03:30, July 11, 2011 (UTC)Stargazer1970

What the? Edit

Alright, this is NOT funny. Whatever happened to the old red backgrounds? Why are we suddenly on standard, bare-bones Monaco instead of the old red backgrounds?

Also, why are there two ads jammed into the front page? No, wait, don't answer. I remember now. ---Blackout- 19:42, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

As for the skin... the Wikia staff changed it to interact with the ROTF film. Speak of the skin, now since the film is over, I really want it can be switch back (because the red background really hurts eyes), but I don't know how to do it. Can anybody familiar with the Monaco-skin code change it back? Thanks. --TX55TALK 04:10, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
Apparently the "bare-bones Monaco" problem was caused by me unchecking "Let the admins override my screen choice" in my preferences. ---Blackout- 17:29, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

Cast sections Edit

Is just me or does anyone else feel some Cast section in some page such as The Transformers (cartoon) or Transformers Animated (cartoon) are getting TOO huge and crowded with bunch of minor characters? Those Cast section gotta be cleaned up. --TX55TALK 06:44, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Besides, I think we should delete (d.), which is some sort of spoiler. --TX55TALK 17:07, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

Robot vs HumanoidEdit

I think we should stop using the term "Humanoid mode" and go back to using the term "Robot mode". by way of explanation, characters in several transformers series (including, but not limited to, Beast Wars and Animated) have spoken the term "robot mode" in canon. Furthermore, not all transformers have a humanoid physique, so the term "humanoid mode" is technically inaccurate. Your thoughts? Xeno the Hedgehog 06:13, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

I also prefer 'robot mode'. It helps to clarify things when there's characters like Howlback or Sky Lynx. Jeep! 23:39, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

I am not sure what my opinion is for now, but as for characters such as Ravage(G1) or Sky Lynk (G1), it's "beast mode and vehicle mode/alt mode". --TX55TALK 05:23, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

Robot seems a little easier, as it is one all-encompassing word. besides, beast or humanoid, it's usually self-explanatory. Xeno the Hedgehog 05:44, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

The concept of "robot mode" doesn't make sense to me, because aren't they robots in EVERY mode? Gringo300 (talk) 18:49, July 14, 2013 (UTC)

Maybe it was broken? It didn't seem to stop non-logged-in people from editing. --Tetrap 00:51, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

You will no longer have access to the tool at this wiki. --Uberfuzzy@fandom 10:30, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

If the staff thinks the function has been abuse and is going to turn it off, at least any administrator should be warned and notice. This thing really happened too fast and is caught unawares. Can the function be re-enable in a prerequisite that the function will be no abuse again, before any vandalizer shows up next time? Thank you. --TX55TALK 12:39, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Transformers-challenged Mom needs help... Edit

Moved from Transformers Wiki talk:Community Portal/The Funny

-Desperately seeking Transformers "Mom"...

Judging from your description, I'd say that "Daj-i-tay-ter" is a mispronunciation of "Devastator". As for the one with the "silver gun on his arm", that would be either the recently-released Buster Optimus Prime (Not yet available in North America) or Megatron. I hope this helps. If you need any more info, feel free to ask. Xeno the Hedgehog 18:40, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
It would help if you had provided relevant links, Xeno the Hedgehog, and how did you come up with Buster Optimus Prime? How would a 4 year old child know about a toy that is only available in Japan?
To answer your first question, Buster Optimus Prime's fuel tanks can detach from his back and combine to form an ion blaster that attaches to his right hand. Xeno the Hedgehog 20:29, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
Yes I know what Buster Prime is. And the suggestion that a 4 year old child might know about it because it has appeared in the obscurity of nerd-oriented online toy stores and TF sites does not compute with logic. --FFN 06:33, December 4, 2009 (UTC)
Hi Desperately seeking Transformers "Mom". There are several toys made for Constructicon Devastator as seen here
The big ticket item is the Combiner Class Constructicon Devastator toy:
You may be able to find this very large toy for a lower price at Walmart and such retailers, but I would question buying such a large toy for a 4 year old child.
Possibly a more suitable option is the Mega Power Bots Constructicon Devastator, which is a toy made for younger children:
Again, prices at Walmart and other discount department stores may be lower than the recommended retail price.
As for the one with the silver gun on his arm, I would recommend searching for "Megatron" on hasbrotoyshop.com and see what suits your price range, and then see if that toy is available for a lower price elsewhere. Good luck! --FFN 15:42, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
I think the silver gun refers to Ironhide. Chadlupkes 18:22, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
In hindsite, that would be the obvious answer. Good call. Xeno the Hedgehog 20:29, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

SuggestionEdit

Just a suggestion, do what you like with it--Chipmonk328

Thank you for your suggestion. We will look into it. Xeno the Hedgehog 00:09, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Image uploading Edit

Okay, I've received a mail notifying me that:

  1. There are fan arts been uploaded and used in the normal pages. (I didn't find out because I didn't know they aren't official.) So — I need someone tell me what is unofficial.
  2. There are way too many image without descriptions.

So, this is what I will do next:

  1. Until 2010-4-12, those image uploading recently without any description nor copyright template will be deleted.
  2. I'll delete anything used on the normal page looks like unofficial, starting later (after I come back).
  3. Do not used images (such as TFwiki, Seibertron) from other sites without permission. I'll deleted them.

AND:

PEOPLE WHO IGNORES THE NOTICE FOR 3 TIMES WILL BE BANNED FOR 1 MONTH BY ANY ADMIN.

I think no, unless it's not stock photo. But judging from its look, I think it is an official stock photo. :) --TX55TALK 03:27, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

Image uploading, Part 2Edit

Question: How to make users follow the rules?! Most users just upload images without proper names, descriptions, copyright information. They even upload things can not be uploaded. I do really appreciate their passion, but it is much more troublesome to clean up the images than the newpagebastard. --TX55TALK 01:26, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Recent uploads Edit

I think we should need main pictures with actions instead of just standing there. I'd like to hear some opinion no mater supporting or not. By the way, I delete those files which have been existed. --TX55TALK 17:18, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

I actually prefer the ones where they are in a standing pose. Xeno the Hedgehog 04:01, June 15, 2010 (UTC)
Possibly I didn't make myself clear and wrote the last paragraph out of frustration. I must say you have the point. In my opinion, I think it depends, some needs action (like Optimus Prime (G1) or Devastator (ROTF)), while some needs standing (but with some "effects" if possible, like Optimus Prime (Movie)). --TX55TALK 11:14, June 15, 2010 (UTC)
To be honest, those may not be the best examples. Xeno the Hedgehog 14:52, June 15, 2010 (UTC)
Oops, I mean Optimus Prime (G1) and Devastator (ROTF)'s images are "with action". (that is, "They are good examples for those images with actions." )I didn't mean their pictures need to be replaced. --TX55TALK 17:12, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Links to here from Wikipedia. Also most Transformer articles on Wikipedia soon to be deleted Edit

Moved from The Funny

Someone is making their rounds nominating one batch of Transformer articles after another for deletion. First the planet articles were eliminated, now the spaceship articles are all nominated, plus various characters, and perhaps more[4]. I'll add a few links here and there myself, but that is a lot of articles to work with, so some help would be appreciated. Dream Focus 10:27, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

It DOESN'T SURPRISE me, since there are many Wikipedia users possesses thought which can be hardly understandable. I've joint the discussion to support the keep instead of merge anyway. --TX55TALK 16:32, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

Please do not upload video files Edit

Seems I never mentioned before: The site is basically not welcome uploading video files, since video files are not really "uploaded", but rather merely provide a link to video providers like YouTube or MetaCafe. Once the source file gets deleted, the "uploaded" video will be no longer available, thus an admin has to delete it — and it is PAIN-TAKING to do if there are bunch of deleted videos. So, please do not upload video files. use <youtube>RL-AHxPj9_w</youtube> instead. Thank you.--TX55TALK 10:32, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

Fantastic Wiki fellas. Very addictive. However, a major help would be a section on DVDs (and perhaps trade paperback collections), so that neophyte Transfans know what's on what disc (and paperback) and what to pick up.

That picture I took of Jessica Morgan was not from anything particular.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rabidog321 (talkcontribs).

At least you can check which episode is it from. :)

Complaints Edit

Before I was an official wiki member,I contributed information to your wiki, TX55. The next day I'd look and find out that you had deleted it. If the information is good, leave it where it sits.Jazz40351 22:24, August 23, 2011

Can you point out which page it is? I'll check why it got deletion. --TX55TALK 03:54, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

War for Cybertron connected to PRIME continuity?Edit

Moved to Talk:War for Cybertron (game)

Please do not upload images during the following times Edit

Please spread this message as possible.

Hello, because the function is disabled by Wikia years ago, I'd like to ask every user

  • not to upload any image during October 28 07:00 (UTC) to Octorber 31 07:00 (UTC)
  • not to create any page during October 29 07:00 (UTC) to Octorber 30 07:00 (UTC)

Because I have an important exam during the time and I won't have enough time to patrol and clean up every edit. Sorry for the inconvenience and Thank you very much!! :D --TX55TALK 09:46, October 25, 2011 (UTC)

ive got a bad prob STALL MAN went and put a naked girl in where a pic of tailgate was i changed it but its back again Edit

Please do not upload video files, AGAIN Edit

Seems I never mentioned before: The site is basically not welcome uploading video files, since video files are not really "uploaded", but rather merely provide a link to video providers like YouTube or MetaCafe. Once the source file gets deleted, the "uploaded" video will be no longer available, thus an admin has to delete it — and it is PAIN-TAKING to do if there are bunch of deleted videos. So, please do not upload video files. use <youtube>RL-AHxPj9_w</youtube> instead. I'll delete every uploaded video since today in case I won't do a lot of effort and waste lots of time in future. Thank you. --TX55TALK 01:20, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

New here Edit

Im new here and just wanted to ask, is there a working chat on this wiki? Dannoh403 00:16, April 29, 2012 (UTC)

Relevant information Edit

Moved from Talk:Main Page

Enough with all the unrelevant info in the TRIVIA section. The jokes are pointless, a good portion of the info is useless and it's harder to find any information about transformers any where else.--Ccga3359 (talk) 00:17, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Ummm, how about, TFWiki? It's still got jokes in the trivia section, but it's got almost 10,000 more articles than this place does. -- spyder (talk) 01:06, October 15, 2012 (UTC)

Do you care? Edit

Alright, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but seriously, how many contributors to this wiki actually care about it? For over three years now, this wiki has been stagnant, and most of it's regular contributors have left, over to tfwiki.net. The only way this wiki is going to stop being a laughingstock is if you become an actual alternative to tfwiki, not some half-assed annoying little brother of it. I know that's been said before, but really, it seems like no one gives a damn! How about you guys completely ditch the humor, update all your pages, and give the site a face lift! And before anyone bitches about how much work that is, tfwiki has gone through hell before, with the Bookworm crash, and yet all it's contributors, who actually care, brought it back, and better than before. So if you guys want to be a reputable Transformers source, like tfwiki, it's time to wake up, shed your pride, and get to work. -- 71.187.50.153 18:41, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Same guy as above. Apparently, none of you care, because no one has responded to this after two days. -- Richard Whaledavis (talk) 20:30, September 10, 2012 (UTC)

I haven't seen this message because it got flooded in bunches of edits. As I mentioned somewhere before, some captions from old pages have been hidden, while some of the old pages have been asked for de-funny ({{Excessivesarcasm}}) As for the new page and new file, (since Transformers Animated late seasons), the funny has been less and less.

And, the biggest problem of the Wiki is not funny, BUT the quantity and quality. Everybody knows the article is far less than TFwiki, and every most of the time an user created a new page, either it is nearly nothing, nor a copied article, not to mention the vandalism, which often shows up.

The other major issue, related to the problem above, is that Nobody Few people read the guideline before editing. This is why the quality is "not-so-good". --TX55TALK 02:39, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

SeriouslyEdit

Okay, we need to find some way to get more users here. The sheer amount of work that's required to get this place going again is unreal. -- spyder (talk) 21:39, November 13, 2012 (UTC)

Getting rid of the humorous captions would be a good start, I think. --203.211.106.136 06:17, November 14, 2012 (UTC)
I agree. The captions are not the least bit humorous and a lot of contributors apparently don't know how to spell or use proper grammar. A wiki should at least have some degree of professionalism when it comes to writing and screen quotes. Letdragon (talk) 05:03, November 15, 2012 (UTC)
It kinda seems an essential step to pick up more editors, since at the moment the only thing this wiki has to recommend it over TFWiki.net is a better uptime. At least if the humour was gone, it could pick up the editors who prefer a more serious tone. --203.211.105.86 06:12, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

Foreign language Transformers wikis Edit

I did a search for foreign-language Transformers wikis. Here's what I found. The first group is properly interlanguage linked to this wiki.

Unlinked wikisEdit

These wikis are not interlanguage linked to this wiki.

What needs to be done?Edit

With the permission of an administrator here, I would be very happy to have all of the above redlinked wikis interlanguage linked to this wiki, making them the official foreign-language counterparts. They'd be more accessible to users of those languages, as a result.

You can only link one from each language, so one Polish and one Russian wiki. My suggestion is bolded.

You can go ahead and do this yourself, or you can give me permission to take care of it- I do this for a lot of wikis and I know what I'm doing. Thank you for contributing to the international Transformers community. Elecbullet (talk) 17:26, December 2, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much! Feel free to add foreign-lang-wiki links! No needs for permission. Just place them in the bottom (below the category section) of each pages. ;-D --TX55TALK 11:47, December 3, 2012 (UTC)

Visual Editor Edit

Transformers WikiEdit

I would like to adopt this wiki. Since there are no active admins. But since there are some contributors, is there any user that is against this? Perhaps we can negotiate and compromise, like maybe if you want admin rights, I can give them to you after I adopt the wiki. Reunthal (talk) 01:06, January 7, 2015 (UTC)

I'm fine with you adopting this place if you remain active and help this place. TronX7 (talk) 01:21, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
