Revision as of 21:20, 12 September 2008
The Great Upgrade is upon us, and there are many things to-do which must be kept track of.
Before the move
Discussion; Will TT1 change its name to TT2?Seems to be a preliminary consensus for "TFWiki" (though several admins haven't weighted in.)
- Wikia's export function appends the following notice at the bottom of every page in every revisionin history. (A quarter-million times!) (Including User pages!)
- From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.
- Figure out how to remove this.
→ Run this command on (Linux) server before import, it removes brandings from all revisions:
sed -e 's#<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From \[http://transformers.wikia.com Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki\], a \[http://www.wikia.com Wikia\] wiki.</small></div>##g' < pages_full.xml > pages_clean.xml

alternately, the Filter-on-Import code, which also lets us fix bad web-links -Derik 20:26, 2 September 2008 (UTC) Formalize our legal basis for doing so. (Remove from current version of page only? All pages in history?)On review, terms of GFDL render this a non-issue.

Port over import-filtering code. (And check with Suki about what virtual subdirectory we're running the wiki in, if any so I know how to properly fix web-links.) -Derik 20:23, 2 September 2008 (UTC)DoneRemember to fix links to images.wikia.com as well! Some of our CSS stuff uses it. -Derik 20:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Apparently N/A
After the move
- The page "Transformers Wiki:Preview" refers to ourselves as "Wikia." This will need revising once we no longer are.
- We should really have a {{speedydeletion}} template for pages or images where ambiguity or judgment doesn't enter into things-- (having to stop to look at ths tuff being deleted it what makes it a chore,)-- like mispelled filename, stuff that's been replaced, ooutright vandalism or oopsies.
- Skins, if any are imported after the move, will need to be pointed to our image servers rather than Wikia's. It's a rather simple adjustment.
- A proper biblio citation template, with title, year of publication, page/article-name/edition (if applicable.)
- Properly posting over CSS for the comic/epnavs, toc, etc.
- Slimmer messagebox template. (too many articles have multiple stacked on top of one another.) Goal is 50px high . (Also, maybe a more systematic color-coding?)
- Talk about the continuity note @ tops of articles... (ways to make more scalable?)
