Space Transformers, or simply Transformers, is a Japanese-American media franchise developed by Hasbro in 1984 under license from Takara. Centering on products and media involving transforming extraterrestrial lifeforms from the planet Cybertron, the franchise has been in almost continuous circulation since its launch 40 years ago. When briefly absent from American retail, it continued in other parts of the world. As a result, the franchise has grossed Hasbro more than $1 billion USD since its launch. It is also a rip-off of the Tonka GoBots franchise.
