  • Hypsoline informed me that you would like to keep the history of the articles we're going to be importing. I don't really see a need for this, since if we don't keep the histories, we could use a bot to import the pages a lot faster.

      Loading editor
    • I'm also fine with not keeping the article history.

        Loading editor
    • Oh, okay, then I send you someone to import all the articles from Transformers Prime :) Happy to see you agreed.

    • Hi, I can help with page migration with my bot, which already migrated images here, once you give go-ahead. I see that duplicate articles, were deleted here to make room for import, but there are stil some templates left, should I just leave them or overwrite them?

    • So can Luqgreg start importing pages now?

    • Sorry, I can't do much about it today. I'll start it tomorrow.

    • Okay.

    • I also think we can start.

    • I started migrating pages, I'll let you know when it's done.

Hi, please revert these changes now as we are supposed to treat each continuity equally, main pages are supposed to be disambiguations or were in the process of being split up. You basically made TFP incarnations the main ones and deleted countless data.

You're only supposed to replace the TFP-related articles we have here and most of the time they do not share the same name because we have to take in to account multiple continuities.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah I just noticed that as well.

You played a huge role in this, why would you mark Mini-Con (the centerpiece gimmick Armada introduced) or Lio Convoy (a main character for crying out loud in BWII) for deletion? Did you even look if they were only about their TFP incarnation first?

        Loading editor
    • Sorry, I set the bot to create pages only. I don't know why, but that setting didn't work server-side (outdated MediaWiki?). I don't see any edits, only page creations in Special:Contributions/LuqBot though, so I have no idea what's going on, as in those two articles you linked bot edits are present and are absent from the contributions page. Nevermind, I got confused, by restoration of deleted revisions. I was told to migrate all articles (and categories, but I haven't done that yet) from TFP, which is what I did.

As a matter of fact I did, but I forgot to remove them from the deletion script before I initiated it. I'm only realizing this now. Apologies.

    • Apology accepted. I was under the impression User:Combatbot2015's category additions were supposed to mark what should and shouldn't be overwritten?

      Was there no communication?

      No, there wasn't.

    • Sorry, I don't really understand your issue. I was told all duplicates were deleted before the import. Also, can we close and redirect TFP wiki now?

        Loading editor
    • Well you see Hasbro's and TakaraTomy reuse the same character names across continuities to keep copyrights, we distinguish them and always have,( formerly by franchise in parentheses and the future way is by forward slashes and the in-universe cluster stream designation)

TFP is only one brand so they don't have to disambiguate as much as we do. What you have done is deleted all the main space articles and their history and replaced them with only the TFP incarnation and it flew under the radar because I thought Combatbot2015 was adding continuity categories to mark articles that shouldn't be deleted but you seemed to ignore that and now we have lost data which needs to be restored.

        Loading editor
    • I thought Vozhan restored the articles you wanted to keep. Which articles are we talking about? Could you give us a list?

        Loading editor
    • Not at all, Soundwave is still only his TFP incarnation which it wasn't previously.

Can't your bots change the destination name of the pages they import like add (TFP) to the end of everything. Then we delete the duplicates after rather than before which is unsafe.

        Loading editor
    • So you mean the page which was called Soundwave on this wiki before was deleted and not restored before we imported the Soundwave page from TFP?

Sorry but it's not possible to change the "destination name" after the import was done. That's why I gave you a list of duplicate pages and said you should either rename or delete those duplicates. You opted to delete them yourself, deleted them, and told us we could import TFP articles, so that's what we did.

        Loading editor
    • Well, pages were deleted without proper checking first. We still have a Soundwave (WFC) article separate from the TFP one mistakenly imported to just Soundwave.

Those are the true "duplicates", pages that have similar content not the same name (such as Mini-Con which I've already restored)

User:Vozhan, did you use a bot or semi-automation to delete pages as well?

    • Hypsoline wrote: Sorry but it's not possible to change the "destination name" after the import was done.

I mean before not after. Obviously the damage is already done if it were after.

I meant starting again, can't you code the bot in a way that it copies the content but modifies the name (such as appending "TFP" in parentheses at the end) to avoid clashes?

If you used the Special:Export utility (though you probably didn't), you can open up the xml file in any text editor and use regex or find and replace what's between the every title tag and "make it safe" by appending "(TFP)", save the file and use Special:Import

Semi-automation. I've already mentioned I used a deletion script called "Ajax Batch Delete".

All pages from TFP were already exported with a bot, you want to export them again with appending TFP? Maybe you should restore all the pages you wish to restore first and provide us a list of those pages. Is this possible?

        Loading editor
    • I think at this point someone would need to make a list of all of the pages on the Prime wiki which have been imported, and check them manually for clashes and links pointing to the wrong place.

        Loading editor
    • Some pages have to be merged with the correct spelling, such as "Sick As Bot" has to be merged with "Sick as a Bot" with the correct lowercase letters.

Hi! What is that list exactly? All the TFP article which where imported here? Could you be more precise?

        Loading editor
    • It's a list of all of the non-redirect mainspace articles on the Transformers: Prime wiki. As they'll have been imported here under the same names, it'll help people find them on here and update the internal links and any other work needed.

You want to restore all of the articles or some of them? If it's just some of them, can you give me a list?

        Loading editor
    • All of the them, it'd be useful to see what could be clashed beforehand.

We're not gonna restore them all, to replace them again with TFP versions by bot. Why don't you review them and we restore the articles of needed? We still have the list of the articles which were duplicated on both wikis. I sent it to Vozhan back then, I can also send it to you. Are you on Discord?

    • So where's this list?
