With only 2 weeks left of high school. Tessa found out that her dad has brought home an old vintage truck to strip down, much to Tessa's disapproval, she mostly tells her dad that he is wasting all the money on junk than completing the bills, and keeping the house. But Cade tells her that this truck can help her get to college.
After the argument, Tessa goes out with her friends, only to return and find out that her dad is hiding a Autobot in their barn. Tessa and Cade's friend, Lucas, tell Cade that if they call the CIA, they can get a lot of cash and pay for the house. But Cade ignores that and shorts the truck out. Much to Tessa's dismay, she goes and hides in the house.
A few moments later, Cade and Lucas finds a missile in the trucks engine and restarts it, causing it to fly out of the barn causing it to enter where Tessa is sitting. After this, she finds out that the truck has transformed into the Autobots leader Optimus Prime, who is severely injured from an ambush. Tessa then waits for Lucas to come back with the parts for Optimus.
Later, she sees a cars and a group of men called Cemetery Wind coming towards the house. She automatically calls for her dad. After discovering that Cade knows where Optimus Prime is, one of the men threatens to kill Tessa for details of Optimus's location, but Optimus reveals himself and saves Tessa, Cade and Lucas. Then, a boy in a rally car into the area, drives right next to the three, telling them to get in. Tessa tells her father that's her boyfriend Shane, but Cade is not happy about that.
Though Lucas died during the escape, the others were taken by Optimus to rendezvous with the other Autobots. More information led the Autobots to attack KSI headquarters, after which they were pursued by KSI's Transformer prototypes and Lockdown, a bounty hunter who had come to Earth in search of Optimus. Tessa found herself scooped up by Lockdown's tractor beam as he secured Optimus, and was stuck on Lockdown's spaceship. Though hunted by Steeljaws, she survived and was found by Cade and Shane. The trio began climbing along the cables mooring the ship to a nearby building and, with some help from Bumblebee, managed to reach safety. After a narrow escape on a fighter, the Yeagers and Shane joined the Autobots on board the small ship they'd stolen from Lockdown.
They headed to Hong Kong where KSI head Joshua Joyce had taken the Seed, a device with powerful destructive capabilities. There they were hunted by Cemetery Wind and caught up in a battle against the KSI prototypes. As Optimus fought Lockdown, Tessa and Shane refused to leave Cade, and were able to make themselves useful, using a tow truck to extract a sword which had impaled Optimus Prime. In the aftermath of the battle, Joyce promised to do something about the Yeagers' destroyed farm and Tessa reconciled with her father.

Sometime after the events of Hong Kong and Optimus' departure, Tessa left for college.
Although Tessa doesn't appear in The Last Knight, she's briefly seen in a photograph Cade has of her and is mentioned by her father numerous times. Cade mentions to Izabella that after becoming a fugitive of the Transformers Reaction Force, he was forced to cut all contact with Tessa fearing that the TRF might hack into their communication lines or try to use her to find him. They often had 20-second phone conversations, moderated by Hound. In one such call, Tessa told her father that she needed a girlfriend and that she loved him, but the call timed out and Hound was forced to cut it off. Before heading to fight Quintessa to stop Cybertron from destroying Earth, Cade sends her a voice message as well as a picture of Cybertron, telling her that he would always be there for her in heaven.
