"the Movie line is essentially unprecedented in that it will be offering some (non Prime & Megs) characters in multiple size classes"

In Beast Machines, we got Cheetors (not counting Night Attack) and Jetstorms in two size classes. In Cybertron, we got both a Voyager and Supreme Starscream (though one was offered only in a two-pack over here), nevermind the large number of Legends toys we got of characters. This isn't unprecedented at all. When a line has a limited number of characters, there's going to be multiple versions. It was true in Beast Machines and it's true now. --ItsWalky 02:57, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
And then there were the Spy-Changer-sized versions of Prime, Magnus, Scourge and X-Brawn... in RID... --M Sipher 03:00, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Wave 2[]

I know I've already found some Wave 2 stuff (Robot Heroes and Real Gear guys, mainly). If we know what's in Wave 2, i.e., EE or BBTS or someone has an assortment listing, is it a problem to list it? -hx 19:15, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

The "coming soon" spoiler policy is mostly just for stuff stolen from a factory, heard from a friend of a friend who works at ILM, that leaked script which is absolutely totally the real deal I swear, or Bodycount. The club stuff we withhold out of respect; everything else is so we don't try to post information when there aren't actually reliable sources. Speculation, unreliable information, and stuff that's warrant to change really has no place here.
I would say that things you saw on a Target shelf definitely don't fit that criteria. --Suki Brits 19:54, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Wave I+II?[]

Just a random through--someone somewhere said the current wave (Concept Bumblebee/Deluxe Arcee/Dreadwing) was actually Wave III, with Waves I and II being released simultaneously (Wave II, figure-wise, consisting of solely Wreckage and Swindle). This leaves only characters that actually appeared in the movie, which I suppose makes sense, but is there any credence to this? 69.2.169.43 17:43, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

The waves are completely wrong as listed, if anyone wants to take the time and correct them this is how they were actually released:

DELUXE -

Wave 0 - Protoform Optimus Prime, Protoform Starscream

Wave 1 - Bumblebee ('74 Version), Jazz, Barricade, Brawl, Wreckage, Scorponok

Wave 2 - Swindle, Bonecrusher

Wave 3 - Bumblebee ('09 Version), Arcee, Dreadwing

Wave 4 - Payload, Longarm, Dropkick, Final Battle Jazz, Recon Barricade

Wave 5 - Cliffjumper ('08 BB redeco), Landmine, Stockade

VOYAGER -

Wave 1 - Starscream, Ironhide, Blackout, Rachet

Wave 2 - Optimus Prime, Megatron

Wave 3 - Thundercracker, Rescue Rachet

Wave 4 - Incinerator, Evac, First Strike Optimus Prime (G1 redeco)

LEADER -

Wave 1 - Optimus Prime, Megatron

Wave 2 - Brawl

Wave 3 - Night Watch Optimus Prime, Desert Attack Brawl

You sure about that? I could have sworn I saw Bonecrusher out at the same time as the rest of the movie guys (this point is void if I+II came out at the same time, obviously.) 69.2.169.43 00:26, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Update, OP and above poster here--I was at Wal-Mart today, and went into the Garden Center (local Wallyworld keeps new shipments/overstock of toys there--don't ask.) with the hope of finding that box of CLassics I saw a week ago and hadn't been put out yet. Instead I found a box marked "TRA MOVIE DELUXE WAVE 05 07." Upon opening it (They don't mind. Honest.) I found a Dropkick, Payload, Jazz (maybe probably two, didn't look quite as hard as I should have), Concept Bumblebee, Recon Barricade and two Dreadwings. This throws off the entire chart above, unless of course Hasbro refers to that Wave 0 as Wave 1. Which would make sense.

I guess what I'm trying to say is internally Hasbro called the protoform wave Wave 1, and Concept Bumblebees are shipping again. 69.2.169.43 22:28, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

"Wave" numbering makes no sense[]

It's inconsistent with Hasbro's internal numbering, and so is the idea of listing toys from different size classes as part of the same "wave". Essentially, the numbers in this list are randomly attributed because some toys happened to be available in stores roughly around the same time. Also, store exclusives (other than the Target Scouts) are missing completely, even though at least some of them (Target "G1" Starscream and Jazz, for example) are considerably different from their mass retail counterparts. Essentially, this list looks like it was made by someone who doesn't know how distribution works, but tries to explain why certain toys were available in stores at certain times.

Furthermore, yes, Swindle and Bonecrusher are officially a different wave than the one that originally contained Jazz, Barricade etc. (even though they're still included in the Swindle/Bonecrusher wave in smaller quantities). The reason for this is that Hasbro shipped out several waves even before the official street date, and thus stores started stocking them at the same time. Officially per Hasbro, wave 1 is multiples of Protoform Prime/Starscream, wave 2 is Bumblebee/Barricade/Jazz/Brawl/Scorponok/Wreckage, and wave 3 is Swindle/Bonecrusher with some more of Bumblebee/Barricade/Jazz/Brawl.--Nevermore 13:13, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

So. better.--Nevermore 13:48, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Wave 6 is wrong, I can tell you from prying open a Wave 5 box that Recon Barricade and Dropkick are with Final Battle Jazz, Longarm, and Payload. Speaking of Payload, I figured he was based off the transforming tow truck, if not in exact form, than in spirit. Other minor quibbles: Wave 3.5? Is that official? Ultimate Bumblebee appears to be a par of the Real Gears line, as well. Simple text size increase should fix this. 69.2.169.43 15:44, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

My source is Entertainment Earth. Deluxe Wave 5, Deluxe Wave 6. Final Battle Jazz, Longarm and Payload definitely popped up before Recon Barricade and Dropkick were first sighted, but only one or two weeks was between those shipments due to the INSANE frequency of movie wave circulation. I don't remember offhand where I saw Voyager "Wave 3.5" named as such... And checking Entertainment Earth, it now appears that Megatron debuted in Wave 2 revision 2 and Prime/Megs are wave 3?!? ARGH.--Nevermore 08:54, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Not to seem like I'm picking bones... but perhaps we shouldn't use them as a source? Warehouse boxes with Wave 5 numbering and figures have been confirmed. I just don't see the logic in using EE numbers when we have Hasbro's (see discussion above). 69.2.169.43 22:17, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Okay, IP guy who has access to Hasbro shipping cases. How do you expain this? First report of Longarm and Payload, dating from July 25. This is me a day later, reporting eBay auctions for both of them including Final Battle Jazz. We got a receipt photo for Payload on the same day. Then we have a sightings thread for the wave, with multiple confirmed sightings of all three of them, some of them taken straight off the pallet, starting on August 9. No mention of Dropkick or Recon Barricade yet. Recon Barricade was first found on August 14, with Dropkick being confirmed on the same day. This is also the day when sightings for the wave started in this thread. Voyagers. Sightings for Blackout and Ratchet started on May 11, originally from Canada, as stores ignored the shelf date. Sightings for Ironhide and Starscream didn't start until May 28. If you want to question all that because you personally opened shipping cases that debunk all this evidence, fine. But please don't expect us to believe a random IP who has no evidence other than his word to counter a plethora of existing evidence.--Nevermore 22:55, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I worked at Toys'R'Us all summer. The movie preview deluxes came in a box marked Wave 1, and the first deluxe wave assortment after that (with Bumblebee, Bonecrusher, Jazz, Wreckage, etc.) was marked wave 2. Pretty cut and dried. Awa64 22:52, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Burger King[]

I noticed the BK toys are horribly misslisted. Megatron has his under "toys" (where it should be). But Starscreams is under "merchandise". All others are missing. I heavily recomend someone fix this. I would, but I don`t have a single one!--Autobotx1010 22:16, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

SOMEBODY ANSWER ME!!! please.--Autobotx1010 19:15, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Japanese line[]

How shall we handle Takara's version of the line? Even though 90% of the toys were identical to their US counterparts down to the packaging, there's still Hyper Hobby exclusive clear EZ/Legends Bumblebee, Lawson exclusive metallic Deluxe Bumblebee and the C3x convention exclusive Fusion Cluster editions of Protoform Prime and Starscream, which are worthy to be pointed out at the very least. So should we make a) a full list of Japanese toys, b) a small blurb about how the line was handled in Japan in general and then list those exclusives, or c) ONLY list the exclusives, without giving them any further context (since therewere also some other Japanese exclusives that were simply US toys sold as exclusives because Takara didn't see them viable as mass releases)?--Nevermore 16:55, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

The Japanese Allspark Power Landmine with Allspark Cube is not identical to the Hasbro release, and I'm not talking about the cube itself either. Landmine's Japanese version is a barely different redeco of the Hasbro one, the only difference being the base color for the plastic.

http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/jw!OZs6zFiYAg_kkagy1C9.xrqw6x8Hu4I-/article?mid=781&prev=-1&next=761 http://pony-hp4.web.infoseek.co.jp/LAND.htm

Doesn't seem to be much word around about this one for whatever reason. As far as I can tell, there's no difference with the version of Stockade that included the cube. Still, didn't want to jump around editing this page or Landmine's myself. Chosen 13:46, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Micro IR TF`s[]

I was browsing through Radioshack the other day, and I made a strange discovery. The "Micro IR Transformers" exclusively available at RS aren`t movie-accurate! I picked up the Optimus Prime one and saw that it looked like the universe spy changer G1 Prime with movie-esgue designs. Heck, it even has the same chest! They also had one for barricade, but I didn`t look at him.--Autobotx1010 06:33, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

P.S. There was also an RC pave-low designed after blackout

P.S.S. Just thought I`d Throw that in since I don`t think we have it anywhere

P.S.S.S. I`ve gone cross-eyed

AllSpark Power/AllSpark Battles released in Australia[]

As I reported here and here, the AllSpark Power deluxes, slated for 2008 and the AllSpark Battle Legends 2-packs have been released in Australia. So do we still say that the release year is 2008, or do we change it to 2007? Do we still keep the Coming soon boxes? --FFN 11:50, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

They're 2008 product, so yes, they keep 2008 dates. As far Aussie release, I'd simply add a normal text note and keep the Coming Soon, lest we make people think they're widley available. --M Sipher 17:27, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Transformers Premium[]

Now that most of the Premium line has been revealed in an legit publication, can I update the toy sections for these characters now?

EDIT: Ahh crap, never mind. I remembered we don't know if any of these guys (other than Deep Space SS) have different names or not. --FFN 23:56, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

The Premium Series is giving me a headache. I ultimately decided to put the toys in twice: The confirmed ones under Voyager Class (mass retail) and Single Pack store exclusive redecos (Best Buy and Target); and an extra point later down the page about the prmeium Series in general, a brief explanation blurb and then a list of the toys.--Nevermore 11:14, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Transformers Danglers[]

http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41125&st=0&#entry820221 Yay, more random crazy stuff to document... --ItsWalky 16:52, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Toy scale[]

Given that so many of the movie toys are realistically proportioned and styled vehicles, is it possible to work out an approximate scale for each toy? Has anyone done so? If so, would this page be a good place to put that info? I'd be really interested to see how many of the toys are close to the same scale. (ie, is Deluxe Jazz the right size to take on Leader Brawl?) -- Repowers 22:46, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Deluxe '77 Bumblebee is out of scale with Deluxe '08 Bumblebee. And both are out of scale with Deluxe Jazz. Voyager Ironhide is also out of scale with Voyager Ratchet.--Nevermore 09:41, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Haven't most of Dave Van Domelen's movie toy reviews included scale estimates?--Apcog 01:59, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Movie Preview, Allspark Power etc.[]

I just noticed that the "Allspark Power" and "Premium Series" blurbs take up the same place on the packaging where previous toys had sported the "Automorph Technology" blurb. Except for the Protoforms, which sported the "Movie Preview" blurb in that place again... and the game drones, which said "As seen in the Transformers Video Game".

So one could say that the preview wave was "Movie Preview", the "main" line was "Automorph Technology" and "As seen in the Transformers Video Game", and the extended line consists of "Allspark Power" and "Premium Series".

But then, of course, the Leader Class toys don't have the "Automorph Technology" blurbs, but instead an entirely different, fancy "Advanced Automorph Technology" graphic in a different spot.

And the "Allspark Power" and "Premium Series" Leaders still have that.

HASBROOOOOOOO!!!--Nevermore 00:46, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Walmart-exclusive Cybertron redecos[]

Apparently these toys have been released, but to my knowledge Hasbro never officially announced them or provided any stock photos. So do we list create articles now or what? --FFN 04:13, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Robot Replicas[]

Why the heck aren't the Robot Replica figures listed in this list? -Kaelin

"Action Figures ("main" line)" vs. "Other Action Figures"[]

I seem to recall official Hasbro catalogs and stuff that featured the distinctions "Fast Transformers Fun", "Role Play", "Plain Transformers Fun" and "Collector", but is the distinction between the "main" action figure line (Deluxes, Voyagers and Leaders) and the "other" action figures based on anything official, or is it just arbitrary? That one has bugged me since the beginning. I can see why someone would like to see the Real Gear Robots separated from the "main" assortments that contain the movie cast characters... but what exactly makes a Deluxe Class toy a "main" toy, but a Legends Class toy merely "other"? Unless this ia based on anything official from Hasbro, of course.--Nevermore 23:47, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Update: I have an excel sheet with wave listings and stuff from Hasbro Germany on my hard drive, dated July 2007. The individual categories are:
  • "CORE TRANSFORMERS / 5-9 yrs (current consumer)" - includes Legends, Real Gear, Scouts (which were mass retails releases in Europe), Deluxe, Voyager, Leader and Ultimate. Allspark Battles (which we never got in Germany) and Screen Battles aren't listed yet due to the date of the list.
  • "NEW ACTION FIGURE KID / 3-7 yrs (event kid)" - includes Cyber Stompin' Robots, Cyber Slammers and Fast Action Battlers.
  • "ROLE PLAY / 3-6 yrs" - includes "TransTech" (ultimately "T.E.C.H."), Helmet and Arm Blasters (Allspark Blasters are not listed yet due to the date of the list).
  • "TWEEN - LIFESTYLE - COLLECTOR / 8-18+ yrs" - includes Robot Heroes, Robot Replicas and Unleashed.
No listings for exclusives, even though we got quite a few at Toys'R'Us.
That's it officially from Hasbro.--Nevermore 20:11, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
