I can't believe someone already took the time to do this. What a waste of effort on my part. That said, I think having Football as a subsection of sports (to allow the Iacon 5000 a logical place) makes a certain amount of sense. Also, Football seems to be the more standard name than Mecha Soccer, coming up 5 different times in the letter columns, as opposed to Krok's lonesome profile. At the very least, a redirect from ''football'' would be in order, since I searched for it and didn't find it before writing all this up. --[[User:Jimsorenson|Jimsorenson]] 02:32, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Where's the "Primus League Cup" from? --ItsWalky 15:16, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I suspect the reason Derik used "football" as the European name is because Blaster (IIRC) was once asked if they had football teams on Cybertron, and he gave a brief listing of some teams (the only one I ever remember is Throttlebot Wanderers, portrayed as perpetual underdogs/failures [and quite possibly intended as a knock on Wolverhampton, and that one involved the Combaticons) - this is probably also where the Primus League Cup comes from.

Also, if you ask me, it's funnier if the European name IS just "football", since that emphasizes that of all the sentient races in the universe, it's only the US that has a different name for it. -LV 18:14, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

So, does that mean there's no real reason to think that Mecha-soccer and Football are the same sport? I guess I can see the humor in the European name being just "football", but your exaplnation of the joke doesn't quite fit -- on Cybertron apparently it's called neither football nor soccer, making it not just the US that sticks out. --Steve-o 22:00, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

What's the source for this? Is it from the UK comic? A cartoon?--G.B. Blackrock 22:14, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Krok was a mecha-soccer player. The backstory on the professional leagues being essentially disbanded come the Great War comes from his MtMtE profile. (This jibes witht he strictly amateur championships midway detailed later.)
Cybertron's football teams, the Primus Cub, the main league- the fact Cybertron football is organized enough to even have relegation- comes from the UK Latters Pages. Football is discussed 3-4 times, dy different letyters-page hosts. Who have favorite teams and grudges. They take it seriously.
And while the Throttlebots were no-hopers one year, they were in the running for the Primus Cup in a subsequent (or previous, i might have the order inverted) year until Goldbug suffered an injury on foul from Brawl.
...do people want me to post my complete list of teams and details?-Derik 22:26, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Football Leagues

(each of these chunks is further forward in time. The middle 2 chunks are quite close, chronogically, so the 2nd may be preflecting the injury specificly mentione din the 3rd.)

Dreadwing was a fan of

  • Cybertron United &
  • Polyhex City (before they got regulated.)

Two big football teams:

  • Dynamo Dinobot/Dinobot Dynamo
  • Terrorcons United.
  • Throttlebot Wanderers (no hopers this year)

Primus League Cup:

  • Throttlebot Wanders (Goldbug has a fusion servo problem after beign professionally fowled by Brawl, which ill likely cost the Autobots the 'cup.
  • Combaticons Hove Albion
  • Aerialbots
  • Protectobot Academicals
  • Technobots Wednesday (Nosecone likely for Mechanoid of the Millinium, Strafe best all-around.)
  • Seacons

Cybertron Premiere Division:

  • Actionmaster Academicals (Run of 12 swins, most recent against...)
  • Horrorcon Thursday (Includes Blot and Skullcruncher, whot got into an on-pitch fight with Jazz, a member of the former.)
  • Dinobot Dynamo vs.
  • Tripplechangers Town (the game pitched by Galvatron, who went on to wreck it.)
  • Bruticus All-Blacks v.
  • Defensor United—a real 'clash of the titans.' Drawl scored a goal on a foul from Vortex which the refs- Micro Battle squad missed on acocutn fo beign stood on. This blows Defensor's championship hopes.
