Japanese Name[]
Where did the fact about GADEPU standing for Guardian/Defender/Protection coming from? I've never heard that, and have often wondered what the name stood for. (The Dark Guardians were called GADEPO, in comparison... but I don't know what that means either.) --Monzo 08:06, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's something I picked up years ago, probably in conversation with Makoto Ito ("Universe of Primacron"), since I seem to recall he was the first person I ever heard use the term. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have been codified anywhere online that I can find. I can ask around, but I've got a convention coming up, so not any time soon.--Apcog 21:02, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Megaman[]
That caption for the cartoon pic "megaman has really let himself go." has me in tears from laughter. That has got to be like THE FUNNIEST thing on this wiki.--Skyglide 19:39, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't the main article title be Guardian Robot, rather than Guardian Robots? --Monzo 21:21, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Hello! Isn't the discription talking about the Guardian as seen in the G1 animated continuity only? The Guardian as seen in the Marvel comics continuity is very much different. I suggest to put the description as being in the animated continuity only, and add a decription for the comics version. I would even offer to edit this entry if I'll be allowed to.
- The "Guardian Robots" was specifically the name of the group from the Animated series. They're what this article is about. The Guardian droid thing from the comics *is* totally different and belongs in its own article not this one (with maybe a diasambig here).
- As for editing, this is a Wiki after all, the whole point is that *anyone* can and should edit, so feel free. If there's a problem, folks will edit it back. But I'd suggest reading around to get a good feel for the place first and not making big changes to existing articles without checking on the talk page first like you did here. Big in Japan[]
FWIW, here's the info from the long-version bio on e-Hobby's web site:
- On ancient Seibertron, the titanic GADEP robots bore the role of protecting its various cities. In Earthly terminology, their name derives from Groundling Auto-DEstruct Powerbroker—that is, a surface-based, self-destructing regulator device. The GADEPs are enormous droids specialized for pure combat, with no will or intelligence of their own. Thus lacking any emotion, a GADEP will not slow its assault until it has terminated the functions of an opponent confirmed as an enemy or until it has driven out any "intruder" from its assigned position. Displaying enormous attack power in obedience to those who activated them, GADEPs defended Seibertron's cities while the Destron forces under Megatron steadily improved the defense of their own organization. In particular, when the Cybertrons' powerful, charismatic commander went missing, the GADEPs' towering frames projected a sense of promise for the planet's general populace. A rough spot of GADEP design is that it will cease functioning if its head is completely destroyed, but with the addition of a few technological tricks, it is possible for its body to operate on its own.
I can't say for sure if it adds anything substantial, but feel free to derive stuff from it if it does.--Apcog 16:22, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
