Why do I get the feeling that this page is going to become a war zone? -- SFH 23:15, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Because it's raping our childhoods? Semysane 00:48, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

What we should do is find that New York Post (or whichever is the NY tabloid) article about the guy who proudly refuses to watch the movie, and made the vaugley threatening comment that Hollywood shouldn't mess with HIS childhood. --FFN 07:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

I thought people were more mad over the fact that movie Optimus had a mouth...?

I doubt it. He wasn't even the first one. Optimus Primal and Cybertron Optimus Prime both had mouths. - Semysane 07:50, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Is it OK to just not like the movie? The first half was all about humans and developing human characters because developing CGI alien robot characters for a full 2+hours would be too expensive. Then the big robots showed up, make a few wise-cracks and mostly just pummeled each other in blurry action sequences where you couldn't tell one walking gray-colored scrap-pile from another. The few Autobots that got any characterization had extremely awkward personalities. Ironhide was not just gruff, he was frightening careless. Jazz's act was cringe-worthy. Strangest of all, the everyday objects newly animated by the AllSpark all had one thing in common—they immediately became ϋber-violent murderous psychopaths. WTF?—Starfield 00:59, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

All legitimate complaints -- heck, I shared a lot of them when I first saw the movie. The point of GEEWUN, though, is a general phobia of change itself, regardless of its actual merits and drawbacks -- disliking something for (seemingly) the sole reason that it isn't what we had before. "I don't like the designs because I can't tell the damn things apart when they're on the screen" is a lot more defensible than "I don't like the designs because Optimus Prime never had flames painted on him before", which is just arbitrary and reactionist and dumb. The latter is what is meant by the original intent of the phrase. -- Repowers 01:42, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I think the whole "GEEWUN" thing is stupid, the movie is NOT supposed to be G1, it is supposed to be it's own continuity, making G1 into a live action movie would not translate so well...that is why MR.Bay made it different. But it still keeps the G1 feel...

  • Optimus is still red and blue and has the windows on his chest.
  • If you look at megatrons cybertronian jet mode, the nose cone looks like the barrel of a gun.
  • Starscream still has that voice he had in G1, and he still is a jet, in fact, Starscream was an F-18 in G1 and in the movie he is an F-22 raptor, a cousin of the F-18.
  • Ratchet is still the medical officer.
  • The humans are still annoying.

War zone? alright then this first strike is on the transformations in G1 they had to make a bunch of blocks moving into posistion while in the movies it was aton a tiny pieces moving and forming the legs arms weapons the head and the rest of the transformers. The transformations in G1 suck in an early episode of season 1 sparkplug said he may never get used to that (the transforming from robot to vehicle mode) um hello anyone can get used to a bunch of blocks moving from posistions but the transformations in the movies they are complicated by alot who can get used to that kind of transforming so that is score one for the movie fans. Also you got to give MB some credit he made something that is almost impossible to make in real life appear right on a movie screen --Zackerolowiki (talk) 20:28, December 8, 2012 (UTC)

A death Threat? --Matoroavak2006 (talk) 22:34, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

"For some reason, many GEEWUNNERS were particularly incensed by the fact that Optimus Prime (the truck guy, not the tape guy) had flames painted on him, a detail that Michael Bay claims to have received death threats over (with that in mind, it really does make the fandom look amazingly sad). It probably would have been okay if the flames were burning down some forests, though." Yeah, a death threat over Optimus Prime with flames? That IS a good example of GEEWUN. Those guys might always need a WAAAAAHMBULANCE!
