Snap reaction caused by seeing far too much shitty transliteration in other forums from Japanophiles denying that the Japanese ever use English terms. Monz's edit makes it far more pallatable as a piece of information and pronunciation guide, without the hint of Nippon pretention. In its current format, I'm fine with this. --M Sipher 06:55, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

This page is in need of an Emeril joke. --FortMax 21:56, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Investigation[]

On the querying of User:LV, I dug up a Japanese page on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which features a character named Esmeralda. Her name is rendered in katakana as エスメラルダ, e-su-me-ra-ru-da - which is exactly the same katakana as Esmeryl's name, except for the "da" at the end. I have no idea why Deathsaurus' wife would have her name based on the name "Esmeralda", but we came to the conclusion that "Esmeral" would be a not-unacceptable transliteration of her name. Thoughts? --Monzo 23:06, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

I think I prefer that to the one we have now. According to Google, "Esmeral" is a actual, if uncommon name. "Esmeryl" only gives us results on this character. —Interrobang 01:35, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
