"The clicking noise that the giant organic spiders make sounds somewhat like the clicking noises of the Predator aliens from the Predator movies, which was created by none other than Peter Cullen, voice of G1 Optimus Prime."

Not every element of every Transformers story is a circuitous fanwank/homage (or "fromage"). Can we all admit to ourselves that it's just a coincidence that both Peter Cullen and cartoon spiders have made clicking sounds? -Rotty 22:18, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

If Peter Cullen didn't make the Preds' clicking sounds, I might agree with you, but since he did, it DOES relate to Transformers (in a roundabout way, but still!). Also, Spiderman did show up in one Marvel TF comic, so that reference should stay as well. Stop being a spoilsport, Rotty, and put them back in! --Nightshade83 22:30, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Considering that, according to Cullen himself, he got the noise from the sound sunbaked horseshoe crabs make, he didn't create it either. And this is the kind of thing that leads to misinformation being spread, and overreaching fan-speculation being touted as fact. "Insectoid-things make clicking noises" is beyond generic. I say we leave them both out. --M Sipher 23:52, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Here's my two cents. No where is the reference saying that the sound is an intentional homage (fromage, love it!), but an interesting coincidence. Sipher, if Cullen didn't "create" it, then why would he be credited for it in the first Predator movie? They didn't go out to a beach with a mike, flip a crab and record the noise. It was his creative choice to imitate the sound and, according to his retelling of the story, the director of the film loved it. It came from him, so I think that he created it. And it's a very iconic sound in the sci-fi pantheon. I think the connection makes an interesting bit of trivia.--Suzyprime 01:19, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Except there is no connection. As Sipher says, "Insectoid-things making clicking noise" is totally generic, there's absolutely nothing to suggest that it's anything to do with Predator. What is basically being asked for here is a line which says "This thing coincidentally happens to sound a bit like something else that's not related in any way to Transformers... but, uh, that thing that has nothing to do with this was done by a guy who was in Transformers." I don't flippin' think. - Chris McFeely 01:26, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

What Nightshade and Suzy are asking for is a bit of trivia, not a "reference". It's a series of coincidental connections that some people may find amusing or interesting, sort of like the Kevin Bacon game. Personally, I'm not especially interested by it, but if some people are, I don't see what's wrong with putting it into the trivia. It just needs to be written in a way that makes it clear it is not a reference/homage, but a coincidence. So, putting it under "real world references" is not appropriate. But under "Miscellaneous trivia" (and written carefully) the worst that could be said of it is "boring". --Steve-o 01:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Steve-o, exactly. But if it makes someone's blood boil to include it, then forget it. Chris, very snarky. The sarcasm detector just blew up in my face. I thought it was a fun bit of trivia. Guess not.--Suzyprime 02:09, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
So we can have references to Charlie Brown, which has absolutely nothing to do with Transformers, but we can't mention Peter Cullen's Predator sound effects or Spiderman? Okkkaaay. What's wrong with that picture?--Nightshade83 04:14, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
The validity of this point's inclusion aside, it doesn't really sound to me like the Predator noise. It's more of a high-pitched, squeaky clicking, as opposed to the flatter, bubblier tone of the Predator's noise. Were it not for that, I'd be with Steve-O; not especially enthused about its inclusion, but not objecting on principle either.--Apcog 04:25, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Because a guy in a ghost costume with a big cloud of dust underneath is pretty much a straight Great Pumpkin lift. A bug making a click click noise is not directly related to any fucking thing. -hx 04:23, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Isn't the Great Pumpkin, like, never seen? What are you talking about? --ItsWalky 06:10, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Pigpen's costume. No, Bulkhead's cloud of "dust" isn't dust. That's pesticides. Remember? That's a fumigation tent. --ItsWalky 06:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Seriously. What kind of dork can't tell the difference between cartoon dust and cartoon fumigation spray? They're totally different! -- Repowers 06:23, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Good grief. --Zodberg 18:47, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
This conversation is good because it is bringing some issues to light, namely what content is acceptable for citation in either the Real World or Misc. Trivia sections. What are the criteria for these sections? Are they established in stone, unspoken in the collective meme, or just simple majority rule? Right now, it seems pretty subjective to me.--Suzyprime 05:54, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Good point, Suzy. Okay, so the Predator clicking may not be the best reference to add to the misc. trivia page due to it not being agreed that giant cartoon spiders sound like Predators, but I think we can all agree Blackarachnia web-slinging is an even more direct reference to a certain superhero, than Bulkhead's tent cloud is to Pig-Pen. How about at least adding the Spiderman reference back in? --Nightshade83 22:59, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Second. -- Pacce 02:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay, How about we agree on: no references to predators or charlie brown but there is a reference to spider-man.-Jazzimuz Prime

Why was my edit reverted?

Sari was imitating Prime very badly. She actually sounded more like Trevor Devall's Megatron in Fallen. Fannus Maximus 17:31, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Your edit was pointless. Sari is a little girl, and so she's not going to do a perfect imitation. --ItsWalky 17:37, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm..... Fair point. Okay, disregard the post on your talk page from mere seconds ago. Fannus Maximus 17:39, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Foam

In my opinion, the foam comment is quite a stretch and I think it should be deleted. --Suzyprime 20:57, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Walky's already reverted it. And now, I must go vomit my stomach out from the mental image within my head. -- SFH 21:00, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I'd go puke too, but there's no one here to hold my hair back.--Suzyprime 21:08, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Just because it "squiks" someone, doesn't mean it shouldn't be mentioned. I mostly stick around the Marvel Comics stuff here, so I don't know how tyrannical folks are about the Animated pages on this wiki (given the change was reverted less than half an hour after it was made suggests someone feels strongly about this!), but it seems a bit silly that we have entire entries here based on fan-perceived double entendre and bawdy captions on many of the images, yet a couple of people have a bias against this obvious "sly wink" (seriously, the three adult fans I know who's seen this ep separately "got it"... and yes, it "squiked" them too!).
