- If Peter Cullen didn't make the Preds' clicking sounds, I might agree with you, but since he did, it DOES relate to Transformers (in a roundabout way, but still!). - Considering that, according to Cullen himself, he got the noise from the sound sunbaked horseshoe crabs make, he didn't create it either. And this is the kind of thing that leads to misinformation being spread, and overreaching fan-speculation being touted as fact. "Insectoid-things make clicking noises" is beyond generic. - Here's my two cents. No where is the reference saying that the sound is an intentional homage (fromage, love it!), but an interesting coincidence. Sipher, if Cullen didn't "create" it, then why would he be credited for it in the first Predator movie? They didn't go out to a beach with a mike, flip a crab and record the noise. It was his creative choice to imitate the sound and, according to his retelling of the story, the director of the film loved it. It came from him, so I think that he created it. And it's a very iconic sound in the sci-fi pantheon. I think the connection makes an interesting bit of trivia.--Suzyprime 01:19, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- Except there is no connection. As Sipher says, "Insectoid-things making clicking noise" is totally generic, there's absolutely nothing to suggest that it's anything to do with Predator. What is basically being asked for here is a line which says "This thing coincidentally happens to sound a bit like something else that's not related in any way to Transformers... but, uh, that thing that has nothing to do with this was done by a guy who was in Transformers." What Nightshade and Suzy are asking for is a bit of trivia, not a "reference". It's a series of coincidental connections that some people may find amusing or interesting, sort of like the Kevin Bacon game. Personally, I'm not especially interested by it, but if some people are, I don't see what's wrong with putting it into the trivia. It just needs to be written in a way that makes it clear it is not a reference/homage, but a coincidence. So, putting it under "real world references" is not appropriate. But under "Miscellaneous trivia" (and written carefully) the worst that could be said of it is "boring". --Steve-o 01:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

- The validity of this point's inclusion aside, it doesn't really sound to me like the Predator noise. It's more of a high-pitched, squeaky clicking, as opposed to the flatter, bubblier tone of the Predator's noise. - This conversation is good because it is bringing some issues to light, namely what content is acceptable for citation in either the Real World or Misc. Trivia sections. What are the criteria for these sections? Are they established in stone, unspoken in the collective meme, or just simple majority rule? Just because it "squiks" someone, doesn't mean it shouldn't be mentioned. I mostly stick around the Marvel Comics stuff here, so I don't know how tyrannical folks are about the Animated pages on this wiki (given the change was reverted less than half an hour after it was made suggests someone feels strongly about this!), but it seems a bit silly that we have entire entries here based on fan-perceived double entendre and bawdy captions on many of the images, yet a couple of people have a bias against this obvious "sly wink" (seriously, the three adult fans I know who's seen this ep separately "got it"... and yes, it "squiked" them too!).
