Tailwind is a Decepticon Micromaster in the Generation One continuity family.

Of the scheming junior members of the Air Strike Patrol, Tailwind is the one most likely to seize control of the unit. This is because he knows how to keep his mouth shut, and take a short-term loss for long-term gain.[1]

Tailwind was among the first Decepticon Micromasters created by Thunderwing on Cybertron. He and the rest of the Air Strike Patrol confronted Roadhandler and Seawatch when they came to rescue the Battle Patrol but were distracted when Roadhandler threw a deactivated bomb at them and overpowered. A Small War

They were later sent to join up with Scorponok's command on Earth, where they threatened Roadhandler's fan club in order to force him to lose a wrestling match with Storm Cloud and ruin the Autobots' good publicity. However, they were outwitted by Roadhandler's fellow Micromasters and he won the bout. The Interplanetary Wrestling Championship

In reality, though, Tailwind and the others were working for Megatron. They launched an attack on the MacDill Air Force Base in order to attract the attention of Optimus Prime and the Autobots. Back from the Dead They then summoned Scorponok, bringing the two factions into conflict, before withdrawing from the scene. The Resurrection Gambit

Tailwind, Nightflight, and Storm Cloud came to the aid of the assassin Whisper when he was chased into an Earthen jungle by the Autobot Rescue Patrol. The outcome of this battle is unknown, although Optimus Prime ordered his troops to retreat before they could achieve a meaningful victory. The Greatest Gift of All!

The Air Strike Patrol later attacked an oil refinery, only to be resisted by the human mutant Hector Dialanzo, with Tailwind the first to be deactivated during the fight. The Human Factor

Marvel UK future timelines

The Air Strike Patrol took Megatron's side in the 1991 Decepticon Civil War against factions led by Scorponok and Shockwave. Near the end of that war, the Patrol chased Scorponok, alone, into a human settlement, where Tailwind jostled with Nightflight over who would get to kill the enemy leader. Scorponok maneuvered a team of Autobots into combatting the Patrol for him, enabling Scorponok to escape. Aspects of Evil!

Generation One

  • Air Strike Patrol (Micromaster Patrol, 1989)
Tailwind transforms into a blue A-10 Thunderbolt II ground-strike plane. He was only available as part of four-pack with his teammates Nightflight, Storm Cloud and Whisper.
His mold was redecoed to make Hot House.
In Japan, his toy was released without alteration as Windrim.
