Stasispod

Na-Nu Na-Nu.

A stasis pod is used to store a Transformer protoform newborn until it has its spark installed, is given programming, and is formatted into a functional adult Transformer. The protoform is sealed safely inside the stasis pod, supported by nothing more than a lubricating fluid.

Because a stasis pod's life support functions are so efficient, they can also be used to transport adult Transformers. A stasis pod carrying an adult transformer can be used as a mode of transportation for extreme long range or as a form of restraint. They can also be used as a form of life support, keeping patients in critical condition stable until more time and resources can be obtained to treat them.

Fiction[]

Beast Wars[]

In normal use, an exploration ship will carry several stasis pods, seed a planet with them, and the stasis pods would scan for native forms and birth new Transformer life.

Additionally, some of such a vessel's stasis pods will house "blank" protoforms, which are lifeless and do not contain sparks. One such blank protoform was used by Rhinox to restore Optimus Primal to life; Megatron used another blank to create Dinobot 2. These blank protoforms may be brought along to serve as backup bodies in this manner, or they might result when a stasis pod is damaged and the spark or datatrax of a "live" protoform are lost.

Other Stasis Pods were used to carry sentenced criminals into exile. (For example, the Axalon carried the murderous Protoform X and the thief Packrat.)

Transformers: Animated[]

Teletran-1 had several stasis pods on board that Optimus Prime and his crew used when their ship was crashing down on Earth. The pods kept them safe when the ship crash landed and only reactivated them after 50 years of stasis.

Prime cartoon[]

Stasis pods are used to hold Decepticon sentries. The pods keep their occupants in extended hibernation until they are needed, at which point, the pod's outer panels will retract into the base of the pod and release its occupant.

Hundreds of pods are used to hold the Insecticon sleeper agents on both Earth and Cybertron. After Airachnid releases the Insecticons to attack Megatron she is forced into stepping on one of the pod's bases. The pod then activated and extended its panels around Airachnid, trapping her and placing her into stasis. Armada

Some long range escape pods also function as stasis pods. When Smokescreen escaped Decepticon captivity he used an escape pod to escape. The pod then placed him into stasis as it traveled through space until the pod picked up the locator beacon of the Nemesis and was guided to Earth. New Recruit
