Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs!

Leader of the Autobots during a cartoon series known in Japan as Transformers: Victory. Star Saber belonged to subgroup known as Brainmasters and had several differet transformations including large robot, large jet, or small robot and base.

Star Saber also had the ability to merge in either jet or robot mode with Victory Leo to form Victory Saber.

Fiction

Victory cartoon

Voice actor: Hideyuki Tanaka (Japan)

Throughout the series, Star Saber battles against the Decepticon (Destron) Emperor of Destruction Deathsaurus (Deszaras) and his forces. These forces include the bumbling Dinoforce and the ruthless Breast Force. While he and his Autobot (Cybertrons) forces are successful for much of 2025, eventually the Decepticons (Destrons) start inflicting hard blows. One of the first was struck by the Breast Force, who revealed their combined form Liokaiser and severely wounded him before being driven off by God Ginrai and the threat of further Autobot reinforcements. Another blow resulted in an ambush that severely wounded Star Saber and mortally wounded God Ginrai ( He was later built into Victory Leo). The last blow resulted in the successful capture of enough energy to reactivate the Decepticon space fortress. He finally defeated his arch-enemy Deathsaurus in a final duel aboard the fortress, which was then destroyed by the Cybertrons after a hard-fought battle. Deszaras cursed Star Saber before vanishing into the very dark nebula he'd fought so hard to free his fortress from. Most of these hard fought battles were won by Star Saber combining with Victory Leo, through the miracle of stock footage.

Victory manga

Bathmasters

"Warrior of Love: Star Saber!" Yes, that's the actual title of the issue.

Star Saber was Deathsaurus's fierce enemy until he discovered the Decepticon emperor to be a devoted family man, upon which they made peace. Aaaaaw.

His kid went to school with Deathsaurus' kid. The majority of the conflict within the manga can be summarized as "My Dad can beat up your Dad!"

Zone OVA

Robot Masters

Toys

Victory

  • Star Saber (1989)
Japanese ID number: C-324

Star Saber transforms into a red, blue and white spacecraft. He can split into a smaller robot, Saber (Brainmaster component, which transforms into the chest and face), and a base. Saber even has his own Brainmaster, Yukio. He can combine with Victory Leo to form Victory Saber.

Robot Masters

  • Star Saber (2004)
Japanese ID number: RM-15
A smaller, simplified version of the Star Saber toy, the Robot Masters version of the figure cuts out the base mode and Saber's Brainmaster component, Yukio. Sadly, it has poor posability and durability.
  • Victory Saber (2004)
Japanese ID number: RM-17
Star Saber was also available into a two-pack with the Robot Masters version of Victory Leo, with whom he could still combine to form Victory Saber, both jet and robot modes. The two figures in this pack featured a more metallic paint job than their standard releases.
  • Victory Saber (eHobby exclusive, 2005)
An "evil recolor" of the Victory Saber two-pack completed with Decepticon symbols, this black, purple, teal and bronze redeco represents the two heroes in "optical camouflage" paintjobs for use on an undercover mission to investigate Decepticon dealings in the Middle East black market.
