Slug is a Dinobot who is very much the opposite of a pacifist. His ideal solutions for any problems that arise tend to involve swords and/or fire in copious amounts. Luckily he can combine with his fellow Dinobots to form Volcanicus, which allows him to use both plenty.
We don't know why he should ever combine with Megatron.

Eons ago, Slug’s home planet received Grimlock's transmission from earth with his dinosaur comrades. His whole world decided to imitate Grimlock and his friends, and took on dino modes, with Snarl taking the form of a Triceratops. At some point, Slug and the other Dinobots fell under the leadership of Tiny Arms, but when their planet was attacked by the Immobilizer Gang, Tiny Arms did not survive. Slug and the other Dinobots swore revenge on The Immobilizer Gang and followed them to Cybertron.
Upon arriving on the time locked planet, the Dinobots tried to figure out a plan to stop the Immobilizer Gang, and Slug suggested setting them on fire. Snarl was less than impressed with this idea. They were interrupted by a very unhappy Grimlock, who mistook them for the perpetrators. Slug charged Grimlock in dino mode, beginning a brief melee that was cut short by Swoop realizing that this was the Grimlock. The Dinobots explained their situation, and teamed up with Grimlock to defeat the Immobilizers.
When they found the Mercenaries, Grimlock ordered the Dinobots to stay behind, but when Grimlock appeared to need help, they disobeyed orders and moved in, getting blown up and knocking Grimlock down. They all retreated to Grimlock’s shuttle, and a curious Snarl picked up the Enigma of Combination, causing an accidental combination into Volcanicus, which tore the shuttle apart. The combiner fell to the ground and separated.
Bewildered by their momentary collective consciousness, the Dinobots realized that it was the Enigma that caused them to merge, and intentionally repeated the process, forming Volcanicus once more. The Dinobots continued to train in their combined form, and even when met with failure and discouragement, they reminded each other that through “courage and good cheer” they could succeed.
They convinced Grimlock to try one last time, and they succeeded in mastering their combined form’s mobility, and discovered that it contained a sword. Though elated, the team quickly realized that even the might of Volcanicus would not protect against the Time Blaster, but Swoop quickly formed a plan, and directed the Dinobots to construct a shield that would protect them from the Time Blaster.
The Dinobots engaged the Mercenaries as Volcanicus, and managed to defeat and capture the crew. Their celebration was short-lived, as Soundblaster called in “the boss”, Trypticon. Trypticon fired Soundblaster and the others, before offering the Dinobots a chance to become his new crew. This offer was refused, and the Dinobots reformed Volcanicus to challenge the criminal. Volcanicus felled Trypticon, but their celebration was short lived, as he rose again and scattered the Dinobots, who fled from his attacks. Swoop found the discarded Time Blaster, and the Dinobots reformed, and used the Time Blaster to freeze Trypticon in place, separating to celebrate their victory. Slug and the others were very excited to be invited to Grimlock’s after peace treaty signing soiree. Following the restoration of Cybertron, Grimlock introduced Arcee to the Dinobots, and they formed into Volcanicus once more to celebrate the signing of the peace treaty. The Immobilizers
When Cybertron was threatened with imminent invasion from an unknown enemy, Slug and the other Dinobots burst into a meeting of the higher-ranked Autobot/Decepticon forces to offer enthusiastic support, but they were a little too annoying and shooed away. Slug and the other Dinobots continued across the streets of Iaconus to interrupt other Cybertronians with offers of seeing them combine into Volcanicus.
After the unknown enemy revealed itself to be Decepticon supersoldiers, Wheeljack armed Slug and the other Cybertronians with various gadgets to incapacitate the invaders, but the supersoldiers were able to teleport themselves out of capture. Once the mastermind behind it all was revealed to be Tarn, a Decepticon supersoldier who deceived his way into nabbing the Cortex Helm, Slug and the Dinobots helped battle the combined army of regular Decepticons and supersoldiers. As Volcanicus, they provided cover to allow their fellow Autobots to escape.
Slug retreated with the other Autobots to the Monsterbot underworld to regroup. Ultimately, both Autobots and Decepticons turned on Tarn and his supersoldiers, with Slug combining with his compatriots to form Volcanicus once more, and peace was restored to Cybertron. Slug was later present at Soundwave's wake following his heroic sacrifice. The Perfect Decepticon
