These are Shockwave's Relationships.
Relationships[]
Allies[]
Megatron[]
| File:Scattered | “ | Shockwave! This is quite an unexpected turn. I thought you had perished on Cybertron?! | „ |
| ~ Megatron greeting Shockwave. |
Megatron and Shockwave.
Shockwave served under Megatron before the Decepticon arrived on Earth. He was quite happy to serve Megatron as the Decepticon leader allowed him to carry out any experiment that his spark desired. Despite staying apart, Megatron was happy to see the Decepticon still alive after the group perceived their member was dead. Megatron appointed Shockwave his Chief Science Officer, and head of all Decepticon scientific endeavors. Despite his loyalty to the dark lord, Shockwave does not seem to be totally devoted as he was quick to run rather than avenge his fallen leader when he was killed by Bumblebee. Shockwave may still respect Megatron but he seems to not follow him anymore.
Starscream[]
| “ | I am tempted to force you to share my perception of things! | „ |
| ~ Shockwave threatening to poke out Starscream's eye. |
| “ | Curse you and your logic! | „ |
| ~ Starscream to Shockwave. |
Face the facts, you are illogical, Starscream. Illogical.
Starscream and Shockwave do not like each other, with Starscream viewing Shockwave as a hindrance in the way of gaining attention from Megatron. Back on Cybertron, Starscream brought Arcee and Cliffjumper to Shockwave after he had a difficult time getting activation codes from the two. During Shockwave's preparation for his planned procedure on the Autobots, Starscream asked him if he was sure he could get the codes from the two before Shockwave testily reminded him that he was the one who invented the Cortical Psychic Patch. After the Autobots escaped while under Starscream's captivity, Shockwave remarked after finding them that he should have known not to leave them with him, whom he believed to have been incompetent.
Shockwave would again encounter Starscream when he arrived on Earth. After questioning why no one had tried to search for him, all attention turned to Starscream. While being displayed as terrified beyond belief, Starscream told Shockwave that the GroundBridge had closed down and that everyone believed him to have been killed. Although he clearly didn't like it, Shockwave deemed his response logical as Starscream sighed in relief. In Minus One, Shockwave was mad at Starscream for leaving him at the mercy of the Autobots. Shockwave was close to killing Starscream but he lets him go when he regrets his actions. After Megatron's death, Shockwave and Starscream had to share the only remaining escape pod, where he had to deal with Starscream's constant complaining. Shockwave teams up with Starscream to create an army of Predacons when they were on Cybertron. Later, Starscream totally ditched Shockwave at the hands of undead Predacons, which Shockwave escaped with a few injuries, it is unknown how Shockwave felt about Starscream's presumed death at the hands of his cloned Predacons.
Knock Out[]
| “ | Knock Out, supervise our guest in my absence. | „ |
| ~ Shockwave ordering Knock Out. |
Shockwave arrived on Earth after detecting and finding Knock Out and the Vehicons on Cybertron. As the one who found him, Shockwave might have a sense of gratitude towards Knock Out, but their roles among the Decepticons clearly establish their relationship: As the Medical Officer of the Nemesis, Knock Out reports directly to Shockwave, Megatron's Chief Science Officer. Knock Out himself seems to have developed a dislike of Shockwave, as Knock Out used to be Megatron's science chief until Shockwave was found and brought back to the Nemesis. Shockwave himself treats Knock Out simply as a laboratory/research assistant.
Soundwave[]
| File:Project Predacon (episode) | “ | Soundwave, I require a Ground bridge! | „ |
| ~ Shockwave to Soundwave. |
Despite their similar names, Shockwave and Soundwave do not interact frequently other than Soundwave supplying him with ground bridges. Even so, the two share great devotion to their master, a lack of facial expression, and possibly mutual respect as they both are favored by Megatron as two of his three top lieutenants. Both Cons however seem to work well together as shown in 'Project Predacon'. When Soundwave arrived to assist Shockwave in battle and securing the Predacon bone. Both Decepticons completed their task with excellent results and returned to the war ship.
Enemies (Formerly)[]
Optimus Prime[]
Shockwave engaged Optimus, along with Smokescreen and Bumblebee in Project Predacon. He was able to escape on the bridge with a Predacon Bone, only to be shot by Optimus from the sky, before getting away. After getting help from Soundwave, they managed to get a small bone directly into Megatron's hand and retreated back to the Nemesis. Megatron tells Shockwave that Project Predacon can't be completed without him, which he left the fetching of bones to Starscream while he stays in his laboratory. Shockwave never fought or mentions Optimus after that. Optimus may have forgiven Shockwave in Predacons Rising and it is unknown if Shockwave knew of Optimus' sacrifice.
Arcee[]
| File:Out of the Past | “ | Do not worry if her mind does not survive the procedure you will be next! | „ |
| ~ Shockwave to Cliffjumper about operating on Arcee. |
Do you like my cannon, Arcee? Arcee? You are not looking at my cannon. Not looking is illogical, Arcee.
Arcee was one of the two Autobots that Shockwave had captive after Starscream turned them over to him. She managed to escape and fought Shockwave alongside Cliffjumper. As he chased the two through the GroundBridge, Arcee dodged a blast of his and fired a direct shot at his eye, damaging it severely before she arrived on Earth. Due to this, she is indirectly responsible or at least partially for him being lost on Cybertron. They would again encounter each other on Earth after Shockwave arrived and became affiliated with the Decepticons on the planet. Shockwave fought Arcee with the other Autobots after they tried to assault Darkmount before retreating. Arcee may have forgiven Shockwave in Predacons Rising.
Cliffjumper[]
| “ | Only Starscream could fail to dispose of a helpless captive. | „ |
| ~ Shockwave to Cliffjumper about his escape from Starscream. |
Cliffjumper was considered by him to be an annoyance. After Cliffjumper and Arcee arrived on earth, Cliff said he wanted a rematch. In reality Cliffjumper didn't get it considering Starscream killed him on the Nemesis before Shockwave would eventually be discovered by the Decepticons on Cybertron. Shockwave appeared to not care when Starscream informed him that the latter had killed Cliffjumper in Shockwave's disappearance, this could mean that Shockwave held no animosity towards Cliffjumper.
Bulkhead[]
Bulkhead was one of the Autobots that Shockwave sent Predaking after. During the Autobots' attack on Darkmount, Shockwave succeed in capturing both Bulkhead and his fellow Wrecker, Wheeljack. After Optimus Prime arrived, Bulkhead attacked Shockwave alongside Arcee, Bumblebee and Wheeljack before they and the Decepticon retreated. Bulkhead may have forgiven Shockwave in Predacons Rising.
Wheeljack[]
After Starscream failed to get Wheeljack to give him any type of information, Shockwave tried his invention the Cortical Psychic Patch on him. However, the tool proved unsuccessful and the Autobot escaped their captivity, only to later invade the base with the other Autobots and be captured again, by Shockwave this time. After Optimus Prime arrived, Shockwave fought Wheeljack, Arcee, Bumblebee and Bulkhead before the Autobots and Decepticons both retreated from the exploding Darkmount. Wheeljack may have forgiven Shockwave in Predacons Rising.
Ratchet[]
Ratchet studied Shockwave's experiments back on Cybertron, most notably the Cortical Psychic Patch. The two finally met during when Ratchet was captured and brought aboard the Nemesis. Despite being bitter enemies, both have shown to cooperate when working on the Synthetic Energon. Shockwave even ordered Knock Out to assist Ratchet instead of hurling insults, showing how much respect Megatron's mad scientist has for the Autobot medic.
As the two worked together on finalizing the Cyber matter, they expressed a mutual respect for each other and in their work. Despite this, they fought during the final battle of the Omega Lock with Shockwave gaining the upper hand in the fight.
Bumblebee[]
Bumblebee was one of the Autobots that Predaking went after per Shockwave's instructions. The two faced off against each other when Bumblebee attacked Shockwave with Arcee, Bulkhead and Wheeljack. Despite their combined strength, he and the other Autobots retreated after the fortress started to explode. Bumblebee may have forgiven Shockwave in Predacons Rising.
Ultra Magnus[]
Shockwave fought Magnus in Persuasion where he and the latter engaged in a small but fierce combat. Magnus punched around Shockwave, despite Shockwave returning a few blows back. During their fight, Shockwave mocked on how Magnus should not be there because he only has one hand. Magnus replied by stating that he would rather have one bum hand than an eye any day after punching Shockwave. Magnus was able to bring Shockwave to his knees and told him to surrender. Shockwave would have surrendered but Predaking barged in and escaped with Shockwave in hand. In Predacons Rising, Magnus may have forgiven Shockwave.
Smokescreen[]
Shockwave encountered Smokescreen during his hunt for the first of the Predacon remains. He attacked the young Autobot and soon retreated with the fossil, being followed by him. Though Optimus Prime tried to intervene in their fight, Soundwave arrived to aid him and distracted Prime. However, Shockwave would face difficulty against the two Autobots, whom double-teamed him. He engaged in a game of tug of war with Smokescreen and Bumblebee before succeeding in his task and departing. Smokescreen may have forgiven Shockwave in Predacons Rising.
Alpha Trion[]
When Shockwave discovered Alpha Trion was one of the Thirteen Original Primes he became fascinated with the archivist. He desired to exploit the Prime's powers to suit the needs of the Decepticons and build counterfeit versions of the Artifacts of the Primes, specifically the Matrix of Leadership. Alpha Trion was violently opposed to this and considered Shockwave a disgrace to all of Cybertron. Alpha Trion mostly considered Shockwave a nuisance albeit one with a large army and resources. Shockwave himself felt Alpha Trion was a Prime who had betrayed Cybertron by letting the Caste System rule them and proof of why Primes should be exterminated.
Unicron[]
Along with Starscream, Shockwave was truly horrified when Unicron was using Megatron's body as a vessel to try to permanently eradicate Cybertron with an undead army of Predacons. Shockwave somehow survived after being attacked by Unicron's army when he tried to kill as many as he could and in self-defence and persuaded Predaking, Skylynx, and Darksteel to aid the Autobots in defeating Unicron, this showed that he was willing to do whatever it took to defeat Unicron.
