Shigeru Chiba (千葉 繁 Chiba Shigeru) is a veteran Japanese voice actor. He was born as Masaharu Maeda (前田正治, Maeda Masaharu) on February 4, 1954 in Kikuchi, Kumamoto, Japan. He has also worked as a stunt man and sound effects director. He is now employed by the talent management firm 81 Produce.
He is the go-to guy for playing treacherous, screechy-voiced characters. And so naturally, no one has ever cast him as Starscream. Some of his better known roles are Kuwabara from YuYu Hakusho, the Fist of the North Star TV series Narrator, Urusei Yatsura's Megane, and Pilaf & Raditz from Dragon Ball.
Unfortunately, as was usual per the jovial Japanese dub of Beast Wars, Chiba was cast to voice Megatron as a bumbling idiot who would constantly squeal like a little girl when fired upon.
