Shanix is a currency that takes the form of Transformer-scaled golden coins and is used by Cybertronians.

In Defrosted, a thawing glacier freed Crustacion from a stasis pod in a cache Windblade had established, and the thief promptly began searching for his Shanix, first believing that researchers at a nearby human base had stolen them, then that the arriving Bee Team had made off with his ill-gotten cash. After his defeat, another chunk of ice containing his Shanix broke off the glacier and sank to the bottom of the Southern Ocean.
In Out of the Shadows, it was later recovered by a human expedition, and, believed to be linked to a lost ancient civilization, was put on display at the Crown City Natural History Museum. The Autobots planned to retrieve it before it was realised what it really was, but had to put their plans on hold due to the arrival of Shadow Raker. After defeating Drift and kidnapping Jetstorm and Slipstream, Slipstream pretended to turn coat, persuading Shadow Raker to retrieve the Shanix. It proved to be a delaying tactic, allowing the Autobots to regroup, and after Shadow Raker's defeat the Shanix was taken by the Autobots for safekeeping.
