Rage of the Dinobots Issue 2 is the second installment in the Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots comic series.
Summary[]
While Snarl works to reactivate the main computer of Ultra Magnus's ship, Sludge inspects the bodies of the unluckier members of the battalion that took Magnus captive. Though almost imperceptible, he brings to Grimlock's attention welding lines that indicate the warriors were cut up and sewn back together again, just as Shockwave did to the Dinobots. This grim revelation is followed by a shout from Snarl, who had got the computer up and running and used it to track Swoop's transmitter to an abandoned base of Shockwave's nearby, in the Sea of Rust. But Grimlock recalls old Autobot reports that say the base is no longer Shockwave's: now it may well be a prison used by the Forged, a Cybertronian urban legend that the rest of the Dinobots scoff at.
Little do the other Dinobots realize that the Forged are very real, and at that very moment, Swoop has awakened in their prison-base to the sight of their leader Ser-Ket, a former Decepticon who considers the factions obsolete since the departure of Optimus Prime and Megatron, who warns Swoop that her master will soon be arriving...
Following Swoop's transmitter, the Dinobots find the prison atop a lone mountain, and bicker with one another as they scale the treacherous peak, Slug almost falling off in the process. Once at the top, they quickly take out the guards, allowing Snarl to steal a module from one that provides access codes and a map to the facility. Upon entering, however, the team discovers that the prison is not merely on the mountain: it extends deep into the mountain, and contains far more prisoners than they were expecting. Slug proposes simply finding Magnus and Swoop and leaving the rest, but Grimlock insists that everyone will be saved, and has Snarl tap into the prison systems and open every cell. The prisoners begin fighting their way toward the roof, while the Dinobots look for Magnus or Swoop; Magnus's cell remains locked, but that just makes him easy to find, and the Dinobots soon set him free. Magnus suggests that since everyone is heading for the roof, Swoop may be going there too, so the Dinobots join the running battle that carries them to the top of the prison. On the roof, the heroes are confronted by Ser-Ket, who introduces herself and the Forged as the armies of Shockwave, with whom he will "reforge the world". Grimlock demands that Ser-Ket hand over Swoop, and she complies... by revealing that Swoop has become one of the Forged himself, torn apart and rebuilt as a loyal servant of Shockwave!
Notes[]
- Between the release of the first issue and this one, the existence of the Beast Hunters toy Ripclaw became known, who was both identified as female in her bio, and immediately identifiable as sharing a body-type with Ser-Ket. This fuelled previous speculation that Ser-Ket could be female (originating with the fact she is named after an Egyptian goddess), which was confirmed off-handedly in this issue.
