Resident chemist and explosives expert for the elite among the Decepticons, Mixmaster has spent his entire life learning all there is to know about chemical interaction. He can make thousands of poisons, explosives, and deadly gases from the materials around him. The other Decepticons rely on him to fashion powerful warheads for their missiles and dangerous venom in which to coat their blades.

Mixmaster units are large machines that convert into cement mixer trucks. Both the Autobot and Decepticon armies make use of these drones. They are very slow, but very determined, heavily-armored and heavily-armed to boot, making them very dangerous opponents.

Mixmasters are differentiated by little more than the make of their noggins; Autobot versions use a facemask-with-visor model, while Decepticons has a lens-head. Mixmaster drones on both sides have unstoppable attack power, good defense, but little speed.

Mixmaster mysteriously returns in the Dark of The Moon prequel game leading a group of Decepticons in an attack on the American city of Detriot. When Ratchet goes to investigate unusual activity in a human factory, Mixmaster's Decepticon soldiers launch an ambush on the Autobot medic. Eventually, Mixmaster is seen assaulting Ratchet and Ironhide shows up and demands the Constructicon to release his fellow Autobot. He does so by throwing him viciously against a wall leaving him heavily damaged. He then orders the other Decepticons to kill Ironhide. That backfires as the Autobot defeats and kills all of them, leaving Mixmaster no choice but to fight Ironhide himself. During the battle Mixmaster states Ironhide cannot pierce his shields. Ironhide then proceeds by destroying the gears upholding the cargo lift in the very room dropping Mixmaster to the bottom of the factory. He survives and retreats to the scrapyard near the building. When Ironhide arrives at the scrapyard, Mixmaster grabs him through a wall and tosses him into the open area. The Autobot has possession of the Heavy Iron 2.0 weapon and is able to destroy Mixmaster's shields in the fight. The Constructicon is eventually immobilized on the ground and Ironhide proceeds to kill Mixmaster by shooting him in the head with his new weapon. [[Image:Rotf-mixmaster-cannon.jpg|thumb|400x400px|

Mixmasters are rarely-seen foes; Decepticon units are dark green, while Autobot units are yellow. They are shielded against artillery (they don't even stop to block, they just keep coming) and shrug off melee attacks as well; the only way to damage them is to knock them down by throwing something at them, then picking the drone itself up and hurling it. They are armed with heavy rocket launchers with a slow rate of fire, but nasty punch.

In Detroit, Mixmaster captures Ratchet and held him hostage in a factory. Ironhide goes to rescue the Autobot. After a short battle with him, Ironhide forces Mixmaster into the basement of the factory. Later, after meeting up with Ratchet and getting a powerful Heavy Iron 2.0, Mixmaster ambushes Ironhide in a scrapyard and battles with him. Now equipped with his new "Heavy Iron 2.0", Ironhide blasts of the Decepticon's shields, leaving him open to his conventional weapons. Ironhide manages to weaken him and pins him down, and says "That's for Ratchet! And this is for me!". He then blast the Decepticon in the head, killing him for good.

* The Mixmaster drone was one of two types of drone whose names were put up for voting on the game's web-site during development (which would seem to indicate that they're not getting toys, the other being Scrapper). The other eligible names came from past cement-mixer Transformers characters, including

:Mixmaster is, but not technically, a Triple Changer. He is able to transform into a cement truck and what seems like a mobile turret. Good luck with that. The transformation in the instructions is not possible as pictured, because a joint connecting the cab to the body was installed (on all releases of this toy) upside down from what the directions say, making the turret mode in the directions impossible.
  +
:In turret and humanoid mode, he has big plates from his truck mixer section that are vague about exact placement, making specific poses in his art and directions very difficult to reproduce.
  +
:His hands contain only three fingers, however clever Hasbro designed it so that his middle finger cannot pass above his two other fingers. Thus preventing him from using a trick copied from frenzy.
  +
:His mech-alive gimmick are two "spinning gears" on his legs which are, in reality, his wheels.
  +
** The real Mech Alive feature- a pair of thin light gray cylinders inside his thighs that twist when his knees are turned horizontally- are incorrectly labeled on his box, thus the gimmick is frequently mistaken for the wheels on his thighs. Thanks for that printing error, Hasbro.

  +
* Like his Generation One counterpart, he is a chemist specializing in poisons.
  +
* Although his cement barrel kibble appears to serve as armor, it's surprisingly frail, being seen easily ripped off by a shot from a tank.
  +
**The armor is far more durable in the Dark of the Moon game and requires a heavy rocket launcher to remove them.
  +
* When the other Mixmaster assembles with other Constructicons to form Devastator, a driver can be seen inside.
  +
* Interestingly, his cannon mode does appear in the film, just seconds before he's slagged by Jetfire. It appears to be conventional ammo, because it leaves a trail of smoke and fireball.
  +
* He does have some lines in the film, before he transforms into the cannon he yells "Listen up!" "Oh yeah? OH YEAH?!!", "Take THIS".
  +
* Mixmaster has a hood ornament of a bulldog, symbol of Mack company, with the face replaced with Decepticon symbol.
