Mess ups Edit

Sorry Edit

I'm trying to find someone who keeps leaving a bunch of sexually explicit and otherwise disturbing content all over this wiki and I want to clean it up.

It's okay. :) The article was written long ago and it is hard to find who started it. Basically, it is due to the policy which keeps the funny. --TX55TALK 14:53, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

Pictures Edit

How could i post a picture correctly and why is it when i post a picture in protoforms it says you can't upload pictures in this wiki?--Sideswipe 555 16:25, January 30, 2010 (UTC)sideswipe_555

  1. You should upload an image with a good quality.
  2. The image name should be well named.
  3. Do not upload images which already exist. (The system should have notify you when uploading, unless you click the "Ignore any warnings".
  4. Do not upload any image which is from a leak or stolen product, including CAM film.

Please visit Project:Images for more information. :) --TX55TALK 16:47, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

Batteries Edit

I realize that this is a really minor detail, but do you think we should include a page about the batteries that are included with some of the more recent figures? I ask because I have about six or seven figures that came with batteries included (Optimal Optimus, Beast Machines Supreme Cheetor, '07 Premium Series Leader Class Optimus Prime and Megatron, RotF Leader Class Optimus Prime and Megatron), and thus far, I've only had to change the batteries in one of them ('07 Megatron). These batteries have a remarkably long shelf life in general. Your thoughts? Xeno the Hedgehog 15:33, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

You mean creating a page "Battery". Sure, I don't see any reason say why not. IIRC, anything related to the Transformers brand can be created as a page as long as it works/makes sense. :D --TX55TALK 16:16, February 8, 2010 (UTC)
Very well then. However, as I am inexperienced and unskilled at writing in the standard page layout, I would appreciate it if someone could walk me through the process. Xeno the Hedgehog 18:03, February 8, 2010 (UTC)
You can start the page and I will try as much as I can to help with it. :-) --TX55TALK 03:13, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edit

My username is Grimlock1. I think its pretty cool seeing someone else who thinks Grimlock is awsome! Im fairly new here and just wanted to tell you something. now, I do not mean this in a harsh way, in fact if anything I have great respect for you considering all of the edits you have done, I was the one who kept changing the quote on the Grimlock page. It was true information, and I just felt that cuss words shouldnt be used because I'm sure little kids see this site. so please, {picture me smiling while saying this} dont use cuss words in your edits. I dont want to be a bother, but I'm just saying this for the little kids who view this site.

PS: over 21,000 edits?! thats awsome!!!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Grimlock1 (talkcontribs).17:53, 2010 February 28

Welcome to this site. :D The quote is kept because it reflect Grimlock's strength and character in most of the continuity. (And "badass" isn't quite a curse in some way.) While the Movie quote gets removed because, well, Grimlock is actually "lack of intelligence" in cartoon continuity. As for the edit counts, most of them are just maintaining/patrolling edit since I've not work here for a while. :-) --TX55TALK 18:06, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Should some things that are correct be edited? Edit

Should some things that are Grammatically correct and free of spelling errors but extreemly confusing be edited? for example, on the Alpha Trion (G1) page, first paragraph, the way its written almost makes it lok like he had relations with himsef. it took me a minute to realize what it was saying.---Grimlock1 23:36, March 1, 2010 (UTC)Grimlock1

WHY! Edit

why did you get rid of the pictures i put on the war for cybertron article, it doesnt have any pictures on there now, answer please! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Trypticon95 (talkcontribs). 15:09, 2010 April 8

Please, sign your posts with four ~'s. In response to your question, perhaps the pics didn't follow our guidelines for image use. Did you provide a source for the images? Were they officially licensed, or were they just fanart or other material of similar nature? Was the page layout disrupted by the addition of said images? were they uploaded as jpegs, or were they a different format? Were they too large? Were they low-resolution and subsequently appeared pixelated on the screen? Did the pics in question actually pertain to "War for Cybertron", or were they just taken from any random series? I could go on, but we'd be here all day. Xeno the Hedgehog 15:50, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
First, the layout is disrupted. Second and the most of all, the page is still in development, so I move them to the talk page for now. --TX55TALK 18:13, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Question about a technicality Edit

I frequent a website called Ben's World of Transformers (BWTF), which is run by Ben Yee, if I'm not mistaken. the site features toy and series reviews, screenshots, tech specs, pretty much any info that a TF enthusiast could ever want to know, about every TF series there has ever been. Taking into account that Mr. Yee works for HasTak, does that mean that BWTF is an official source? On a related note, do wikia rules and guidelines allow the use of media from that site? Xeno the Hedgehog 04:13, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

I would like to ask the same questions regarding Alex Milne's DeviantArt gallery (listed under the username markerguru). Xeno the Hedgehog 04:40, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

It depends. If the picture is officially released on media such as websites or books (including magazine), then the picture is official. :) --TX55TALK 11:26, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Funny story; I recently left a comment on Mr. Milne's page asking if he'd be willing to post some of his drawings in his own article, and he said he was okay with it, "as long as it doesn't say anything bad or anything". I replied back to him with the necessary keywords he would need to find the wiki and the article, and requested that he read it before agreeing to anything. depending on his next response, I may get him in touch with you so that you may discuss which images go into the article and how they are implemented. Like I've said before, I'd do it myself, but every time I've tried to make such edits in the past, I ended up screwing up the page layout. Besides, seeing as you're the authority here, I think it makes more sense for you to be directly involved in this situation. I'll let you know what he says about the article. Xeno the Hedgehog 08:23, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
Sound interesting, looking forward to good news. :D As for the layout, I think maybe I can help you with it. --TX55TALK 15:40, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
He gave the okay. I asked him to contact you and gave him step-by-step instructions for how to do so. I also told him that it's probably better if he uploads the images himself, to ensure that they are properly cited, and that if he ever wanted us to remove the images, we would do so. Long story short, there's a good chance that Mr. Milne will soon contact you. If this works out well enough, I might try to get in touch with Ben Yee as well. Xeno the Hedgehog 03:10, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

How Edit

how do i name an image and make a descriptionm.n 08:00, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

READ the information box in your talk page for naming rule. AND, for description, just type the description in the box when uploading or use edit button on an image page.
And, no offense, CAN you not type every letter in lower case? For instance, it should be "How do I name an image and make a description." Thanks. --TX55TALK 10:42, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Why have you taken down all the pictures Ive uploaded? m.n 11:19, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

uploading Edit

I think I might have finnaly figured out how to upload pictures properly, the latest one is a picture of TFA Swindle from the Allspark allminac, it shows all his weapon capabilities, i put on the Swindle page can you check it out to see if its ok. Trypticon95 09:27, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Almost there. :D However:

  • Page "Swindle (Animated)"
    • This image should not use as the main picture since it is a raw material (uncropped, unedit, etc)
  • Image
    • It should be "Tfa" instead of "TFA"
    • The description should be look like this.
    • You should use a suitable copyright template, not Template:PD.
  • Ps. You should be careful not to make any typo.

--TX55TALK 10:27, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

O.K thanx for the tips, I'll get it in the end, Trypticon95 10:35, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

WHAT! Edit

What do you mean mess?! I've done every thing you've told me to and your still not happy!Trypticon95 19:49, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

I apologize if I've been too harsh. But, have you really read Transformers Wiki:Images? Every time after I "fix" those picture, you still keep uploading out of standard. And I've told you to be careful when uploading and following the standard. I've been working on almost every file you upload.
  • Naming - I've moved lots images you uploaded, such as:
  1. File:Tfa-Warpath-promo.jpg to File:Tfa-warpath-1.jpg
  2. File:Tfa Perceptor design.jpg to File:Tfa-perceptor-design.jpg
  3. File:Rodimus-prime-Transformers-Animated-.jpg to File:Tfa-rodimusprime-head.jpg
  4. File:TFA Rodimus minor toy1.jpg to File:Tfa-rodimusminor-toy-deluxe-1.jpg
  5. File:TFA Rodimus minor toy1.jpg to File:Tfa-rodimusminor-toy-deluxe-2.jpg
  6. File:TFA-Flareup-promo-colors.jpg to File:Tfa-flareup-1.jpg

Also, take some TFA screen caps for example, you didn't write down which episode they came from.

  • Copyright info
You should not choose any Licensing but "None selected" when uploading. After uploading, click edit button and erase "{{None selected}}" before adding a right image template.
This is how it should look like:

Now, do you understand this time? --TX55TALK 02:00, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

well sort of, but those ones you mentioned I uploaded before I new how to do it properly,oh one more thing ie found some new pictures of War for Cybertron Breakdown & Airraid shall I upload, or not because i cant put any thing on the article,Trypticon95 08:15, April 15, 2010 (UTC)
Um, no. many of those pic I mentioned are uploaded yesterday or in recent 1 or 2 days. And, I'm sorry but, can you rephrase or rewrite your message. It's kind of, um, I'm not sure what to say. Such as it is "knew" not "new".
As for the WFC images you mentioned, well, if you want to upload, be sure to follow the standard, and do not forget those I mentioned above. Thank you. :) --TX55TALK 08:28, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

I won't help anymore. Edit

Alright. I won't add anymore pictures to any more of your wikis. I'll even stop trying to create new wikis. You can do those yourself. And I thought I was putting those videos in order. It's just not that easy. If this letter offends you, then go ahead and ban me, and thank you for your time.

Beautification of your main page Edit

Hi there, I'm Game widow, a Wikia helper on the Gaming team and I have a proposal for beautifying your main page. I have a mockup in place on my sandbox wiki here, if you are curious. The mockup on that wiki has fixed width everywhere, but if you prefer your articles to remain full screen width, that can accommodated as well. I've recreated the Sam Witwicky page so you can get an idea of what a fixed with article page would look like as well. Let me know what you think :) — Game widow 17:58, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, I like the new design created by you! It does surely look pretty. :D By the way, can you keep the Main logo image (the one on the left of the top) remain unchanged? --TX55TALK 02:30, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
I can absolutely retain your existing logo if you prefer it :) — Game widow 12:13, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you! :D --TX55TALK 13:52, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Hi again, since Xeno doesn't seem to care, shall i deal with you on this issue? and given that, i'm just waiting for the image cache to clear and then you should be able to see the new skin, with your logo on my sandbox wiki. I'll give you a shout when it's updated :), then you can let me know if there are any other tweaks you'd like, and barring that, we'll proceed — Game widow TALK 16:48, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
All set! :) — Game widow TALK 17:26, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for notice. :D Oh, something remind me, can you replace Movie Megatron, Movie Soundwave, Movie Sideswipe, and Movie The Fallen with G1 Optimus Prime, G1 Grimlock, G1 Megatron, and G1 Soundwave, since they are significant characters in the original series. Thank you. ;-D --TX55TALK 01:34, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Sure, can you give me links to images i can use? or do you simply mean to have the links point to the G1 pages ? — Game widow 10:34, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, as following shows:

--TX55TALK 11:01, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

thanks! new images in place, check it out :)— Game widow 00:18, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Great, thanks for help. :D Oh, and what I mentioned above is to replace Movie Megatron, Movie Soundwave, Movie Sideswipe, and Movie The Fallen so that would be:
Optimus Prime (G1) | Grimlock (G1) | Megatron (G1) | Soundwave (G1)|
Optimus Prime (Movie)| Bumblebee (Movie) | Sam Witwicky | Mikaela Banes
Can you help me with that? Thanks again. ;-D --TX55TALK 02:03, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Better?Game widow 13:26, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
This is exactly what I meant! Thank you very much, Appreciate!! ;-D --TX55TALK 14:44, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Excellent! :) ... so now the next big decision. Do you want only the new main page to be fixed width, or the whole wiki?— Game widow 16:44, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the "be fixed width, or the whole wiki", can you explain it to me? Thank you. :D --TX55TALK 20:25, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Sure thing! fixed width is what you see on that mock-up main page, the article area does not scale with the screen resolution, so no matter what that area (with the text and information) remains the same width. For the new main page, that's the format, however, you have a choice to have that format apply to all the pages on your wiki -- which would mean that you see bumblebee and jazz flanking every page -- or only to the main page, in which case, they would be covered up by the articles. so it boils down to whether or not you want to see them peeking out around every wiki page, or just the main page. To give you some idea, i recreated the Samuel Witwicky page on my test wiki, have a look there and see what you think. If you like it, we can have the whole wiki use that format, otherwise we can make just the new home page look that way — Game widow 21:36, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
I think fixed width is good because most of the contents layout are edited withing 1024px environment. As for the skin, is it possible to make only selected pages (in addition to main page) with new skin? Because I want to make the featured articles look special since they are featured. :D --TX55TALK 08:46, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm, i'll looking into it, but that might be beyond what we can do. I'll try a few tests and get back to you later today. — Game widow 13:21, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Got it, I'll keep my fingers cross for you. ;) --TX55TALK 16:41, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Good news :) Yes, it's possible, but it would be up to you to keep it updated once i set it up. For now, which pages did you have in mind ? — Game widow 22:30, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

That's really a good news. In addition to main page, I'd like to have all featured articles in my mind. I've changed my mind (I want to keep this new skin), is it possible to give the following page the old skin? Thanks. :D

By the way, I've notice the link color has changed (I'm sorry I didn't notice during the test page). Is any chance we can change the Wikipedia link, inter Wikia link, and external link's color different from a normal link? Also, clicked links color remain the same color before being clicked. In addition, I think the black frame of a image like this can be changed back to none.

Blazing lockdown

--TX55TALK 02:45, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Good morning, we seem to be both trying to make changes at the same time this morning. How about you let me know when you are done and then we'll see what's left to do? As for the links, certainly they can be (and have been) changed, but if you have some preferred colours, please let me know. — Game widow 10:31, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
Good morning. :D I've done by far. I'd like to keep the link colors as original (that is, before change), except for the inter-wikia links, which I'm considering to use LightSeaGreen(#20B2AA). Also, I noticed that admin and bot accounts' custom color in the RecentChanges page has been overridden as well (however, the bold text is still there). Is it possible to make the color shown again? Thank you. :-D --TX55TALK 13:36, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
Howdy, ok, i think i've restored the previous link colours, but please let me know if i haven't (i might be missing a few "!important" calls here and there). Interwiki links should now be light sea green. I'm a little confused about the following, though:
Do you mean that you'd like all articles (except the 5 listed) to have the new skin, and /only/ those 5 to keep the old skin? — Game widow 17:23, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
I've noticed the change of the text colors, Thank you! ;-D
By the way, is wikipedia link and inter-wikia link share same code and both types of links are interwiki link?
Yes, I'd like all articles (except the 6 listed — Optimus Prime (Movie), which I missed to type it) and /only/ those 5 to keep the old skin. --TX55TALK 09:44, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
OK, i'm on it, but it might actually be tricker to keep the old skin for just a few, but i'll definitely see if i can do it -- i /should/ be able to :) and as for wikipedia and interwiki, i do think they are considered the same, but again, if i can make them different for you, i will — Game widow 18:43, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Yep, it's possible :) and it's done — Game widow 19:08, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Upon further inspection, maybe not! it worked on my test wiki, i'll keep working on it — Game widow 19:10, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
So it works fine if the page title has no parentheses in it, like Samuel Witwicky and Mikaela Banes, but all the entries with (film), etc don't seem to work ... i'm trying to find a workaround — Game widow 19:24, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Sorted :) — Game widow 19:32, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Me again! i think i've come up with a way to make wikipedia links a different colour, but i still need to test it. What colour would you want for that if i can do it ? — Game widow 19:48, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Good to know that. :D I'd like the Wikipedia link color as same as the current external link color since Wikipedia link is a type of external link. ;) --TX55TALK 06:09, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia link colour Edit

Hi there, so the only way i can make wikipedia links a different colour (at least so far!) is to have you use a new template for those links. So they could be a different colour, but you'd have to track down all the existing wikipedia links and convert them to use a new template -- is that something you are willing to do? and then moving forward use this new syntax for all wikipedia links. The new syntax would be something like {{wp|article name|optional different link text}} . Alternatively, since you want wikipedia links to be the same colour as external link, then you can simply reference them the same way you do for other external links, eg. [ goose pulling], that also works — Game widow 23:18, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. I think I'll use the template next time I meet a link need to wikified. :D --TX55TALK 06:44, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

War for Cybertron Edit

An 'unregistered contributer' has made a page for War for Cybertron (see here)> Silverbolt (W4C) but he named it W4C when it should be WFC i was wondering if there was a way to change it. Trypticon95 13:55, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

It's simple, just click the Move button on the top of the page you want to rename. :D --TX55TALK 08:07, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Hi!! Edit

I am new here as well as in wikipedia. Ok, get to the main point. You changed the italic text i put on the name of episodes referred in lockdown (animated) back to 'xxxxxxx' toy section and trivia. May i know why? (still i will adhere to your style whenever i come across episode names in toy section and trivia for animated; i actually did that because i saw that style on some animated pages thus wanted to uniform them as i edit)

So, if the name of comic issue referred is in italic stlye as in oil slick (animated) trivia (someone did it in this way), are you ok? i would like to conform to this style when i edit toy section and trivia for all animated pages (i hope so if got time)

The one thing that i really didnt get is why did you changed the word 'robot' to 'humanoid' for lockdown deluxe toy i edit. I mean the word 'robot' is universally conventional in describing the transformers if the are not in alt mode

One more thing, do i have to do summary when i edit? major edit?--Ultra Magnus 506 15:39, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

Welcome. :)
1. It's "episode/issue name" instead of episode name/issue name'
2. "humanoid" is more specific than "robot".
3. Not always, but better to have an edit summary usually.
And last but not least — please note that what should capitalize. No offense but your message is not convenient for reading.
--TX55TALK 17:40, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

1. Mind telling me what's the use of the following:

FYI, i deleted the phrase She goes from good (Elita-1) to bad (Blackarachnia), unlike her Beast wars counterpart who ended up good. because i don't think Blackarachnia ended up bad.

2. You retain Blackarachnia's link to spider-man (the word web-slinging).

I actually considered leave it as it was but there's also another spider-man link in trivia section. Since there's no need to have 2 same links (IMO) and the phrase in trivia would need spider-man link more to help preserve the humor, i deleted the link in toy section. What do you think? Can i delete the toy section link, my hands are itchy...

3. I noted that you preserve some picture captions i had deleted.

Just to explain myself. When i edit, i do my due diligence and refer to sources including the TF wiki. But i just couldn't stand it when people just plainly copy and paste. So, i make changes particularly in toy section (which i am working at the moment for TFA) and delete picture captions (that are the same as in TF wiki) hoping someone else will fill in the blanks. By no means being rude. ok, thanks--Ultra Magnus 506 07:36, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your opinion and sorry for the late replying.
1. I originally hid it with a comment tag but I've deleted by now.
2. I retain the first link to Spidy because I preserve it out of "same theme" instead of humor, and second, I didn't note the link in trivia section when I was editing.
3. I'm very glad to meet an user who want to made this site different from TFwiki. :D As for the copy-paste, that's what I hate as well, you can see I've reverted some edits and delete pictured form TFwiki or Wikipedia. As for the captions, I only preserve those really funny one. By the way, you can just change the caption into a normal one instead leaving blank. :-) --TX55TALK 06:44, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

A request. Edit

Is it possible to change the Help:Contents page would it be possible to change the fifth entry of General Rules to " For the love of Primus, please write well. " instead of the current phrasing? Thank you.Yzz, Master of DOOM 19:36, June 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for noticing me about this. However, I change it to simply "God" (without linking to Primus) because I think it's necessary to emphasize the tone. Hope you can understand. :) Also, I've started up a new thread at Community Portal/The Funny and I'd like to ask if you can join the discussion. :D --TX55TALK 04:50, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

TF episodes on youtube... Edit

What is the wiki policy on embedding TF episodes that were uploaded to youtube? I'm talking like G1, BW, BM, RiD, the Unicron Trilogy, etc. and not the recent stuff like The Movie/RoTF or Animated.Yzz, Master of DOOM 17:10, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your idea, but I don't think it is good to post any video since it involves the copyright issue (especially, most of them are not legitimate). However, it is okay if the video is upload by official. IIRC, for example, months ago, a user post a Transformers Animated episode from youtube, which is an official published video (then get post on YouTube by someone). :) --TX55TALK 03:28, June 24, 2010 (UTC)
