Fanon Overload Edit

While you've got an impressive volume of fanfic there, it really seems out of place for user pages on this wiki, which are more about the users themselves than vast amounts of fanfic character description. Your work would be much more at home on the Transfanon Wiki, with perhaps a much-reduced entry (say, just a list of names, linked to the appropriate parts of the Transfanon Wiki article) for your user page here.--Apcog 06:52, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

No worries; I wasn't aware of it myself until a month or so ago, and that was because of someone else's response to a fanon-poster here.--Apcog 15:14, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Ahem...and now the link to your character list page from your personal user page is out of date...--Apcog 16:51, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Lol you stalking me or what? Edit

Damn I bump into you quite often right now o_O, now are you stalking me or am I the one? :P

Oh and sorry for adding to your work dude. :DDead Metal 20:51, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Really? This system confuses me, well know I knowDead Metal 19:07, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, you have to sign your post on my talk page. I bloody hate this signing stuff, why can't it happen automatically?Dead Metal 19:20, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Nemesis's's.... Edit

Just FYI, the accepted style guide on this wiki is to add " 's " to possessives of singular nouns ending in "s". Thus we have "Optimus's", "Ultra Magnus's", "Abominus's"...and "Nemesis's".--Apcog 18:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Is there a reason for this? I'll stop fixing them if that's the consensus, but it's poor english to make a word possessive like that. Jeep! 18:55, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
(Keeping this condensed to one talk page for ease of following the conversation.) My education left the rule vague; some teachers allowed it, some didn't. I don't know who used what reference in establishing the style element as official here, but it's accepted as the norm. If there's strong enough evidence to change it, then perhaps a bot could be set up to replace all the occurrences of "s's" with "s'". (It's also poor English not to capitalize "English", but we'll let that go. ;-) )--Apcog 19:03, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough. My experience with English language teachers was that they were roped in to doing it without any training, since the qualified ones always did literature. Might just have been my school though. However, as a BA English student, sometimes this wiki makes me cry inside, with the spelling and the ellipses and the "1980's". I'm a man with a mission! Right now, though, I'm just going to go fix the Optimus Prime disambiguation links until I forget what the problem was. :P (Also, there's bound to be a way to make smilies in this thing!) Jeep! 19:09, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
You have my sympathies. I'm an editor myself, and I find myself frequently wincing and lashing out with corrections here that most would consider pointless nitpicking.
Having said that, even I am still wrestling with some formalized rules of punctuation usage (e.g., enclose/don't enclose a final comma or period in quotation marks if it's not part of the original quote), as those vary from style guide to style guide. I looked up ellipsis usage just now, for instance, and found a few contradictory rules regarding spacing around the ellipsis, so I couldn't make a firm statement one way or the other in response to an edit you just made. I learned it as no spacing and not capitalizing the next word if it would have been part of the same sentence without the ellipsis. An ellipsis trimming to the end of a sentence, but no further, takes a fourth dot with no intervening space. Etc. I plead guilty to committing the "1980's" style apostrophe misuse for many years in my youth, but I know better now.--Apcog 19:20, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, now you know. And knowing is half the battle. Then again, I always had it drilled into me that an ellipses should only be used formally to replace missing text in a quote, but I do tend to use them to trail off on a sentence myself - and the fourth dot thing is something I've never been able to find a definate answer on either way. It's one of life's great mysteries. Ah well. Jeep! 19:28, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
The fourth dot is because the ellipsis isn't considered punctuation that ends a sentence. —Interrobang 02:44, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the justification for it, but I've also found it to be accepted as such as well. Three dots, four dots, let's call the whole thing off? Please, someone laugh at that. Jeep! 02:55, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't particularly care for the debate, since I hate ellipses to begin with. (Before this is noted, no, ending sentences with prepositions is not bad unless you feel that Latin should dictate English rules.) —Interrobang 03:02, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Grammar Girl's "Apostrophe Catastrophe part 2". I recommend listening to the podcast (green 'play' button on top.) Mignon Fogarty has an incredibly soothing voice. -Derik 03:08, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

By the by, I for one really appreciate all the cleanup work you're doing. Cheers! -- Repowers 03:43, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

It's not really cleanup as much as it is... meta. Policy page shit no one wants to do, maybe a bit or organizational and logistical backbone. The mood hits me sometimes I do a bunch of 'em at once. (It also balances my karma for when I do something stupid and juvenile, in theory.) My stats say I make twice as many edits on talk and meta-pages as I do on article space, which I think feels about right. They're a good place to pool information and reach consensus. (Well, and get into arguments, but I'm trying to stay out of trouble until my probation ends. Mellow is actually much more relaxing.) -Derik 04:03, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Derik - well, that was an eye-opener. I blame the grammar-nazi stance on my professor. He's a native German. Yes, I went there.
Just remember, for every grammar-nazi, there are 8 million grammar-jews. Or something. The metaphor breaks down, but I really wanted to use the phrase 'grammar-jews,' it amuses me so. -Derik 04:03, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Some day, when I get my degree and start teaching, children will see "Back to the camps, you grammar-jew" in red pen at the bottom of their essays. And it's all your fault. Jeep! 04:05, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
*claps hands in delight* -Derik 04:07, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I hope you're proud of yourself. Jeep! 04:13, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Repowers - thanks, man. It's not glamorous but neither am I. :P Jeep! 03:49, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Reproduction Caption Edit

Awww, why'd you change the caption back? I know I'm new, but shucks, man, there go my feelings. Seriously, though, is there some sort of system, perhaps a required humor quotient, for new/changed captions? Keegman 04:03, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

New admin recruiting Edit

For further information, see: Transformers Wiki talk:Community Portal#New admin recruiting

Hello Jeep, I've noticed that you've been quite working on the site for a certain time. I would like to ask you if you could became one of the new admins?

The site is facing a-shortage-of-admin problem. Only one admin is not enough, especially the ROTF is coming in two month. So I've propose that the site needs about 3 new admin.

Please contact me if you have any idea or problem. Thank you. :) --TX55TALK 15:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Dirty Harry quotes Edit

Just saw your comment on RecentChanges, that is Optimus Prime (Armada). I remember very well because I like the quote. ;-D *laugh* --TX55TALK 15:10, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Haha, yeah, I went and searched for it after I made that edit, it's the exact same quote. It works better with the Armada Prime one, so I might replace it in the Screamer one with something else. Jeep! 16:23, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

"-" mark Edit

Hello, actually you can use "(space){{m-}}(space)" (which is often use in the sentence for tone) instead of "(space)-(space)" (which is often used for notice, such as Grimlock - The leader of Earthforce). ^^ --TX55TALK 15:55, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Just for your notice again that "(space){{m-}}(space)" which is often use in the sentence for tone. ;-D --TX55TALK 17:34, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Contents Edit

Hello, when seeing contents which is redundant, or written out-universely (such as this, it should be deleted or rewritten. ;D --TX55TALK 16:42, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

ROTF spoilers Edit

Though I am aware that clips from the film have been leaked, I think we should put a cork on the spoilers until the film's official release, or at least until the countdown on the front page reaches 0. Xeno the Hedgehog 17:38, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Xeno the Hedgehog 22:15, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Can't block me, I'm not logged on Edit

I am going to keep vandalizing becuase I can't be blocked becuase I'm not logged in.

Umm.....No?--KaotikusNemesis 20:48, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that you are now an admin on this wiki as requested at the Community Portal. Let me know if you have any questions or need anything :) —Scott (talk) 16:21, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Recent Brawl Edit Edit

On July 15, 2009 you made an edit to the Brawl (Movie) page and I was wondering if I emailed you a concept art image of movie Brawl, would you be willing to upload it the page and change the Brawl image at the top of the page. Thanks.

Recent Brawl Edit Edit

Since the message I posted didn't leave my I.P. address I'll leave my email address here just in case you want to contact me. It is Thank you.

The thing is, I do not have a wikia account so I cannot upload the image myself. The image I have is from Ben Proctor's website. 18:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Was there something wrong with the pics I emailed you? 23:30, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading the pics Jeep!, I have updated the Brawl (Movie) page so come and take a look. Do you think that will suffice? 23:24, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Re: Disambig Edit

Ok, thanks! Teh lolz! BPL 01:16, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Image uploading Edit

Hello, just for your notice, the image should be upload with the standard name format and proper copyright information like this. :D --TX55TALK 14:31, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about the improper image uploading, I haven't gotten you in trouble with upper management have I? I'm also I.P. B216.80.136.13 20:58, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Um, acctually, I'm not a upper management. ^^" --TX55TALK 08:33, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! Edit

Thank you for opening my eyes! Every article should include a Trivia note saying what continuities somesuch thing exists in, because that is totally not what the italic text intro's for! -- 21:44, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Delete Edit

Can you get rid of the Pictures of hot females article? It's really weird. Teh lolz! BPL 20:55, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Sorry dude, just thought, the Demolisher and Scavenger toys descriptions are confusing enough, I was just stating the similarities between Bonecrusher's and Demolishor's death, and stating the obvious with the size. --Galvascream 18:11, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

Beautification of your main page Edit

Hi there, I'm Game widow, a Wikia helper on the Gaming team and I have a proposal for beautifying your main page. I have a mockup in place on my sandbox wiki here, if you are curious. The mockup on that wiki has fixed width everywhere, but if you prefer your articles to remain full screen width, that can accommodated as well. I've recreated the Sam Witwicky page so you can get an idea of what a fixed with article page would look like as well. Let me know what you think :) — Game widow 17:59, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
