So, um... is that you on the Sector 7 website? -Derik 06:41, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

The "informants" section contains e-mails sent in by fans. So, yeah, I do believe it is. --KilMichaelMcC 06:44, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
*contemplates* This sets up a neat little dilemma, in terms of documenting things.
I mean, one of those informants is clearly Tarantulas, who survived the Beast Wars and had laid low on Earth since. One the one hand, that was user-generated. On the other- out of #n e-mails they got, they chose to publish that one, and they must have been aware of its implications.
We know there was a version of Beast Wars in movie continuity- the 1902 version of Sector 7 had a fragment of the Golden Disk in a display case. (And they're covering it's existence up, The Takars83 document specifically says it's NOT among the 'properties' they're allowed to use...) head hurts.  :~( -Derik 06:51, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
You could try to just treat such things as the meaningless easter eggs they appear to be. --KilMichaelMcC 06:53, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Where's the fun in that? :)
As long as they stay consistent, they're material officially published, sort of. Maybe a nice master list of participants... (Notice I'm not jumping to actually DO this.) -Derik 07:06, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

For the record, yes, that's me. I figure they liked my attempt to explain what a FWIFFO was.

As for the canonicity of informant e-mails... Their existance is canon--it's not like fans can put e-mails up themselves, they were deliberately added to the site by people who are as official as anyone. So in the movie universe, someone sent those emails. Trouble is, we don't know anything about the person who sent any given email other than that they sent it. What we end up with, then, is the same situation as so many Universe character pages: Tarantulas (Movie)'s connection to Tarantulas (BW), if any, is unknown.

And if you think this is a headache now, just wait 'til you try to tackle the StopSectorSeven forum, which is also technically canon (Agent X spread the URL around), and appears to have an "official" user or two mixed in among the fans pretending to be canon characters (and nobody can tell for sure which is which). --Andrusi 20:11, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Incidentally, I've just discovered that, briefly, there was speculation as to what my StopSectorSeven persona was up to, and where "my" true loyalties lay. (One guy thought I was going to turn out to be a Decepticon.) That's awesome. --Andrusi 23:45, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
