High Guard

The Cybertronian High Guard were once the most legendary elite warriors of all Cybertron, in the war against the Quintessons, and prestigious defenders of Iacon, before they were forced into hiding under the leadership of Starscream, fighting a war against the false Prime, Sentinel Prime. Maybe one day they'll become something greater.

Transformers One[]

When the Primes were led into a Quintesson ambush by Sentinel, Alpha Trion sent a message to the High Guard requesting immediate assistance, but this was ultimately to no avail, and the High Guard only witnessed the fall of the Primes and Sentinel's betrayal. After this, they went into hiding on the surface of Cybertron, taking refuge in an old Quintesson ship. Under Starscream's leadership, the Guard continued to fight from the shadows to sabotage Sentinel.

50 cycles into hiding, the High Guard captured Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1, and B-127 when they trespassed and, believing them to be spies, brought them before Starscream for interrogation. D-16 remained defiant and battled Starscream, defeating him and taking control of the High Guard, telling the members to join him in marching on Iacon City and destroying Sentinel.

But at that moment, Sentinel troops led by his enforcer Airachnid arrived and attacked the base, capturing as many prisoners as they could including Starscream, D-16, and B-127. They were taken to Sentinel's tower, where the false Prime praised them for their ability to remain hidden for so long, and planned to publicly execute them all in front of all of Iacon City. However, a siege led by Orion and Elita, along with the remnants of the High Guard, attacked Sentinel's tower and they were freed, and joined the battle of Iacon.

In the ensuing battle, the High Guard cheered as D-16 killed Sentinel in half, and then D-16 renamed himself Megatron and ordered the Guard to destroy Iacon. But his rampage was halted by Orion, reborn as Optimus Prime by the Matrix of Leadership, who defeated Megatron and banished him and the Guard. Swearing revenge, Megatron renamed his new followers the Decepticons.
