The caste system, sometimes known as Functionism was a rigid social hierarchy on Cybertron following the disappearance of important figures such as the Knights of Cybertron and Thirteen administered by the Guilds of Cybertron.
Although its rigid structure was intended to preserve Cybertronian society, its repressive force was a large factor in the social decay and unrest that led to the formation of groups such as the Decepticons.
Known castes[]
Under the caste system, a newborn Transformer was immediately assigned to a caste the moment they emerged from the Well of All Sparks.
- Cultural investigator
- Data Caste
- Monitor
- Programming Caste
Known classes[]
Under functionism, society was divided according to the Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy which ranked a Cybertronian's alternate mode based on usefulness and scarcity, meaning those with rarer and generalized forms received more freedoms and/or career choices.
- Astro class
- Blacksmith
- Construction class
- Disposable class
- Flight class
- Intellectual class
- Janitorial class
- Manual class
- Military class
- Ornament class
- Scientific class
Notes[]
- It was mentioned each Cybertronian eventually assumed their most natural alternate mode and were then assigned to a part of society. Since members of the Cybertronian race can change their forms, most who joined the war likely abandoned their original alternate modes in favor of something more suited to combat.
