Toxitron

Melvin was a 98lb. weakling until nuclear waste transformed him into...

Toxitron was a redeco of Laser Optimus Prime, with "pea soup" green, yellow, and purple as colors. It was planned to be released, but was cancelled. Toxitron was first shown at BotCon 2005's "TF Rarities" panel by Rik Alvarez, with people describing it as "amazingly ugly" and "f***ing awesome". Later, it was on display at the "Things you've never seen before (and will never get)" booth at the Hasbro tour at BotCon 2007.

Combiner Wars[]

  • Wrecker Toxitron (TFSS 5.0, 2017)
  • Accessories: Distortion Rifle, Agonizer Sword
  • TFSS-5
Part of the Figure Subscription Service 5.0, Combiner Wars "Wrecker Toxitron" is a redeco of Combiner
Wars Voyager Class Motormaster with the mold's previously unused alternate head. Meanwhile, the larger head for Combiner mode was spliced from the Optimus Prime tooling. Like all Combiner Wars-style Voyager Class figures, Toxitron can combine any compatible Deluxe Class figures, although he is intended to form the torso of Wreckage. His two accessories can combine into a larger sword for his combined mode.
Toxitron uses the revised version of the hip joints. Despite the ratchet fix however, the other design failures of the original mold related to combining still remain. As an unadvertised feature, Blackjack (and any of his redecoes) can plug onto the pegs of Toxitron's gestalt chest, though the tension is weak.
He was released along with Wrecker Counterpunch and Shattered Glass Starscream.
Fun Publications scrapped tentative plans to do a Combiner Wars Nemesis Prime toy because e-HOBBY did the similar Unite Warriors Grand Scourge. Thus their use of Combiner Wars Motormaster's pretooled alternate head went to Toxitron instead.

Legacy[]

G2 Universe Toxitron (Leader Class, 2023)
  • Accessories: Energon axe, Energon sword, Matrix, blaster, trailer/battle station
The headliner of the Legacy: EvolutionToxitron Collection, "G2 Universe
  • Toxitron" is a redeco of Legacy Laser Optimus Prime, transforming into a mid-1990s Western Star 4964EX tanker truck in Toxitron's acid green and purple colour scheme. In robot mode, he has flip-up chest panel that reveals a removable clear-orange Matrix with a 5 mm post hole on its back, plus his gigantic (sadly nigh-immobile) shoulder pylons have flip-up panels to reveal (non-firing) multi-missile launchers. His sword and axe accessories can combine into one gigantic weapon, and you can even slot the Matrix onto it to boot thanks to the 5 mm-long connector tab on the axe. The axe can also fold up to serve as a trailer-hitch cover in truck mode
His tanker trailer can convert into a battle station, complete with an adjustable front claw, and a twin-barreled turret which can be unpegged and used elsewhere. The base mode has a whopping eight 5 mm holes on its side panels and two on the tanker-end that houses the claw, plus the spot where the twin-gun normally goes, meaning you can really load it up with guns.
He sports a Generation 2-style Decepticon symbol, in order to fit in with everyone else in the assortment, as they are all styled on unreleased Generation 2 toys... despite Toxitron not being from Generation 2. Oh well, we'll allow it as it makes the overall theming pretty awesome.
The Toxitron Collection was exclusive to Walmart in the US, with Hasbro Pulse receiving limited quantities of the figure. Toxitron was one of only three toys in the series to go up for pre-order on March 16, 2023, all three shipped in mid-July. The rest of the assortment was put up for pre-order on Pulse on July 22, just as the toys started to eke out to brick-and-mortar Walmart stores; as of this writing, Walmart has yet to put the rest of the series up for online order.
This mold was also used to make fellow Walmart exclusive Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection Robots in Disguise 2000 Universe Scourge
