- Devastator is a Decepticon from the live-action movie continuity family.
Devastator is a giant gestalt Decepticon warrior formed by the Constructicons.
In his first (and only) appearance is components are:
- Scavenger (torso)
- Overload (back of torso)
- Rampage (left leg)
- Long Haul (right leg)
- Scrapper (right arm)
- Hightower (left arm)
- Mixmaster (head)
However, it was stated that Devastator can be created from any Constructicons, if there are enough of them. Therefore, he can have many forms, but so far we've seen only this (and awesome) one.
- Hungarian name: Pusztító (Destroyer)
Fiction
Revenge of the Fallen film
- Voice Actor: Frank Welker (English), Yasuyoshi Hara (Japanese)
In the Egyptian desert, Constructicons combine into a giant robot from their alt-modes. Then Devastator starts up his turbines and sucks up sand and Mudflap, who grips onto the edge of his mouth. He battles Leo, Simmons, Skids and Mudflap and is mostly victorious. He sucks up Mudflap, but Mudflap escapes, blowing up one of his optics. He nearly sucks up Simmons, but Leo saves him. He then makes his way to one of the pyramids and uses his turbines to suck the top off, revealing the Solar Harvester. Finally, Devastator is destroyed by a rail gun fired from a nearby destroyer on Simmons' orders. Oh, and he has a scrotum (Actually, he has balls, but not a scrotum, no matter what Simmons says).
Toys
- Constructicon Devastator (Supreme, 2009)
- Devastator's Supreme Toy is a Giftset that contains the six construction vehicles that make up his body. Unfortunately, the seperate parts only have a body part mode and vehicle mode, no robot mode due to how hard it would be to engineer it and still be movie-accurate. If you want the Constructicons that have robot modes, you'll have to buy them seperately. Clever.
Interestingly, Supreme Devastator does not include Overload. This might be the result of show-accuracy difficulties, but hey, wouldn't it be easier to make a gestalt from seven instead of six robots?
- Constructicon Devastator (Mega Power Bots, 2009)
- Transformers RPM: Devastator Showdown (Playset, 2009)
- Constructicon Devastator
(Legends, 2009)
- These are smallest version of Constructicons, with limited articulation and simplified transformation. Since they don't have to be as accurate to the film as bigger toys, they have vehicle modes, robot modes and can combine into Devastator.
The robots included are Overload, Scrapper, Scavenger, Mixmaster, Long Haul, Rampage and Hightower.
Merchandise
- Devastator (Robot Heroes, 2009)
This version of Devastator is a bit bigger than typical Robot Heroes figure (standing five inches, including raised hand), but has the same articulation. Surprisingly, his left leg is coloured reddish-orange, in contrast to Supreme Devastator's yellow leg.
Trivia
- The name 'Devastator' was mistakenly given to Brawl in the first movie. Michael Bay reported that he liked this name better, as it sounded more dangerous than Brawl. (Maybe he just likes names he can't pronounce.)
- According to Roberto Orci, Devastator will have great upper body strength, making him run and stand like a gorilla.[citation needed]
- The robot modes of the seven vehicles that make up Devastator are not seen in the film. Perhaps Devastator controls all the vehicles remotely, akin to the duocons.
- For a long time, many people thought that Demolishor was, in fact, a part of Devastator. This was recently proved wrong, as some informations from novelization leaked to the web. In fact, there are two Decepticons with Terex alt-mode: Demolishor (mostly white) was killed by Autobots, while Scavenger (mostly red) forms Devastator's torso. Of course Demolishor may just be Constructicon, but not a part of combiner.
- According to Transformers: The Movie Universe, Devastator is 24 metric tonnes and 46 meters high. It notes that it is impossible for Devastator to reach his full size.. However, his weight doesn't seem likely, since Terex - Scavenger's alt-mode itself - weights 980 metric tonnes. This may mean either that Constructicon's alt-modes are lighter than real vehicles, or this note is fake.
- His suction vortex resembles, somewhat, the Nemesis' tractor beam, used by Megatron against the Ark in the BW episode Nemesis Part 2. It has similar gears and blades inside, along with light behind them, though Devastator's are orange, while Nemesis' - green. However, in early CGI concepts (top of the page) Devastator was shown with green light in his mouth, so everything fits.
- Shawn Kelly, the lead animator, stated that Devastator caused a computer to overheat and its insides to melt.[1] Awesome.
- According to his box bio, Devastator is named after terrible wind from Cybertron's equator, which can never occur on Earth. Sooooo awesome.
- Devastator is alarmingly endowed.
