Changes: Cyber Planet Key

Cyber Planet Keys are cosmic technology found in the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Eons ago, four Cyber Planet Keys were scattered across the universe on various planets. Each Key is a portion of Primus' lifeforce, and if gathered together and plugged into the Omega Lock, they can be used to awaken and restore him.

The four Cyber Planet keys were gifts from Primus to his creations. Created during the first age after the first defeat of Unicron, the goal of the keys was to spread Primus' essense to other fledgling planets and reformat them in a way that would create new Transformer life forms. The purpose of this was to possibly equip and protect the expanding universe from the threat of Unicron.

During the transportation of the keys to the four discovered planets(Earth, Gigantion, Velocitron, and Beast Planet), it was decided that a space bridge would need to be constructed to connect these worlds as one. During this operation, the prototype space bridge technology failed. The planets were cut off, leaving the various colonies stranded on their new homeworlds.

As time progressed, the keys influenced the evolution of the various planets, breeding different types of Transformer-based lifeforms. So much time has passed, the Transformers on these various planets have no knowledge of Cybertron, outside of legends told.

Earth: Organic life, such as human ancestors, had already begun their evolution. The Transformer life on Earth was basically identical to that of Cybertron, and took a second-seat to the organic life already there. The Transformers made it their goal to protect this life from destruction. Decepticons existed on earth, spawned from the colonies who first arrived there and terrorized humanity. They were contained by Crosswise and Evac. The Earth Cyber Planet Key is blue and contains the image of a sun peaking from behind the shape of the earth. The Earth colony were the flagship team, also being trusted with the Omega Lock, which was hidden on Earth.

The Jungle Planet: Also known as "Beast Planet". Not to be confused with the Jungle Planet from the Q-System in the Energon series. This world closely resembled prehistoric Earth, occupied by giant beastly lifeforms. The Transformers on this planet evolved into animal-like form, some similar to those of Earth myth and real earth Biology. They Key on this planet was in the form of a statue resembling a dragon. The leader of this planet is the three-headed dragon, Scourge. The Jungle Cyber Planet Key is green with a clawed paw-print.

Velocitron: The Speed Planet. A vast windy desert covered in thousands of winding roads, all managed by a self-repair drone system. The Transformers on this planet evolved to believe that speed means might. The champion of this planet is Override, a female racer. The key on this planet was hidden in the form of a trophy. The Speed Planet Cyber Key is red and contains a symbol resembling a speedometer pointer.

Gigantion: The Giant Planet. A planet inhabited by Giant Transformers and mini-cons. The appearance of the mini-cons on this planet is questionable and has many theories, but because they existed here in ancient times and built the inner-most parts of the planet, they were most likely brought there as partners to the colonizing Transformers. Gigalonia was attacked by an entity of Unicron called Planet X, who was seeking their fuel. The war waged for close to a thousand years, as the inhabitants of the Giant Planet worked to increase their size and the planet's size to meet the threat of the agents of X. After Planet X's defeat, the mini-cons were used to repair the intricate computer systems, while the larger Transformers traveled city to city, trying to repair the damage done by Planet X. Gigalonia's key was hidden at one of the center layers of the planet, predating the planet's increase during the war. The leader of Gigantion is Metroplex. The Cyber Planet Key of this world is purple and contains the image of a cogwheel. Gigantion fell into a wormhole resulting from Planet X's explosion and have remained at the edge of another universe.

Planet X: While not a planet connected to the space bridge project, the agents of Planet X are empowered by the essense of Unicron and have the ability to summon forth a portion of Unicron's greater power through their own Cyber Keys. Though the Cyber Keys appear to be orange with a Decepticon logo, no Cyber Planet Key has been revealed or discovered to represent these keys. The power comes from Unicron directly, most likely.

Each of the four keys were eventually recovered by the Autobots, and once combined with the Omega Lock, returned power to Primus. Primus quickly sprang into action and sealed the Unicron Singularity, using the Ark cannon.

At the end of the Cybertron series, a new project was embarked upon which would lead to the four keys being transported to four new planets, creating a system of eight planets and Cybertron.
