As the Autobot weapons supervisor, '''Crosshairs''' oversees the procurement and maintenance of a dizzying arsenal of implements of death for his fellow Autobots. Long association with such machinery has made him meticulous and careful, possibly to a fault. Crosshairs will often refuse to fire his own weapon unless he's certain it won't miss.

The name or term Crosshairs refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Crosshairs (disambiguation).

As the Autobot weapons supervisor, Crosshairs oversees the procurement and maintenance of a dizzying arsenal of implements of death for his fellow Autobots. Long association with such machinery has made him meticulous and careful, possibly to a fault. Crosshairs will often refuse to fire his own weapon unless he's certain it won't miss.

Crosshairs enjoys a good relationship with his equally methodical Targetmaster partner Pinpointer, who is content to let Crosshairs call the shots.

Fiction

Marvel Comics continuity

Note: Events from the UK-only comic stories are in italics.

Crosshairs eventually became disgusted with his role in the unending cycle of suffering and quit his position as Weapons Supervisor to join Fortress Maximus as a front-line warrior.

He eventually left Cybertron with the rest of Fortress Maximus' crew to travel to Nebulos, where he was among the Autobots who surrendered their weapons as a gesture of peace. Ring of Hate However, when stuff exploded on Nebulos, Fortress Maximus was all "Waah, I'm on fire, where did our guns go?" and Crosshairs was pressed back into service as the Autobots' armorer. He eventually acquired a new gun when the Autobots still at liberty underwent the Targetmaster process and got to try it out while defending the Nebulan nursery from Scorponok and the Decepticons. Brothers in Armour He was later captured by the Decepticons as part of a plan to lure some of the Autobot Headmasters into a trap but got his gun back and taught them the error of their ways. Worlds Apart

After Fortress Maximus' crew had travelled to Earth, Crosshairs and his gun took part in the attempt to rescue Buster Witwicky from the Decepticon faction led by Ratbat and Shockwave but they were forced to retreat. The Desert Island of Space

When Thunderwing took control of the Creation Matrix, he blasted Crosshairs. Since Crosshairs was never seen again after this point in comic continuity, and Hot Rod mentioned that three Autobots were deactivated by Thunderwing, it's possible Crosshairs was one of the casualties. All Fall Down

Earthforce

Note: These stories do not fit into the normal Marvel continuity. See Earthforce for details.

Crosshairs was among the "new age" Autobots who attended Optimus Prime's meeting with Grimlock and the Dinobots about their more brutal methods. When Grimlock threatened to quit the Autobots, Prime seemed all too willing to let him, and the two of them actually came to blows. After beating some sense into each other, however, Optimus Prime agreed to allow Grimlock his autonomy, to lead "Earthforce" while he and the Ark's crew took off for space. Break-Away!

Cartoon continuity

Targetmasters

And the winner of the 100 meter dash is...!

Crosshairs does quite the Ronald Reagan impression. Or maybe Jack Nicholson. He is very concerned with "the hubbub". He also has red eyes, a rarity for cartoon Autobots (Although his animation model has a visor, and red visors are a common practice in the cartoon).

Headmasters (Japan-only)

Voice actor: Hôchû Ôtsuka

3H Continuity

He was part of a crew of Autobot reinforcements led by Hot Spot with the unenviable task of rescuing Arcee, Daniel Witwicky, Wheelie and Doctor Fujiyama the Famous Scientist from Fujiyama's latest blunder. There were a lot of Nightbirds to kill off. Departure

Transformers: Armada

Crosshairs appears in a flashback of Cybertron's Great War along with one of the Aerialbots. This scene was also included in the Transformers Classics: Optimus Prime Vs. Megatron "Ultimate Battle" DVD.

IDW comics continuity

Crosshairs was stationed out of the Autobot Orbital Command Hub and was seen acting as navigator for the crew of the Ark-27. Whether this crew was a permanent unit like Prowl's or merely gathered from available Autobots on the Hub is uncertain. They transported Optimus Prime into battle with Thunderwing on Cybertron Stormbringer issue 2 and later brought him to Earth to follow up a lead on the Decepticons' resurrection.
