The name or term Chromia refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Chromia (disambiguation).

Chromia is a soldier under the command of Elita One and seems to function as a second-in-command for her, leading the rest of the team when Elita's not around. She's brave, hard as nails and, not surprisingly, in a relationship with Ironhide. She has also taken over from Firestar as Flareup's mentor when the latter turned out to be better suited to more offense-oriented tasks.

The Transformers cartoon[]

Voice actor: Linda Gary (English); Masako Katsuki (Japanese)

Four million years ago, Chromia tried to board the Ark, while it was being attacked, with the rest of Elita One's team. The plan failed though, and she and the others appeared to be destroyed.

Note: In the original pilot, the Ark did not appear to be under attack as it launched. The Ark being attacked and the Female Autobots' presence as it took off constitutes a retcon.

Chromia led a mission to steal energon cubes from Shockwave. When Moonracer got trapped after disobeying orders, Chromia confronted the alerted Shockwave and managed to trick him into freeing Moonracer.

Shortly thereafter, a team of Decepticons from Earth came to capture Elita One. In doing so, Rumble destroyed the Female Autobots' underground base, trapping them inside. When they managed to free themselves, Chromia took charge of the search for their missing leader. On their way, they met up with a group of Earth-stationed Autobots who had come looking for Optimus Prime and Chromia was reunited with Ironhide. The two teams together fought the Decepticons, eventually winning when Optimus and Elita returned. Given a new base by Alpha Trion, Chromia stayed with Elita's squad on Cybertron when Optimus' team returned to Earth. The Search for Alpha Trion

Chromia-DIE

Just off-panel: Virulent Clone with apple on head.

Chromia and her ward Flareup were part of an Autobot strike force tasked with destroying the Decepticon general Deathsaurus' cloning lab on Ceti Alpha Seven. Although the pair had handily beaten Deathsaurus' Insecticon underling Buzzclaw on Regulon Four some time previous, they were taken by surprise by the first production run of clones. Although Chromia fought effectively against the clones, she was no match for Deathsaurus himself when he entered the battle personally. Falling before the general's might, she was taken captive.

Chromia, along with her teammates and the backup team of Ironhide and Ratchet, was ultimately rescued when Ricochet, who had evaded capture, came to the rescue of the entire Autobot party. Descent into Evil

War For Cybertron Trilogy[]

Chapter 1: Siege[]

Red Alert checks out Bumblebee and offers to patch him up. He can’t believe that they’re all that’s left of the Autobots. Red Alert was a doctor before the war, but then they gave him a blaster and now he’s a soldier. Chromia adds that they’re all soldiers now. Episode 1

Chromia tells her squad to remain alert and to remember that retrieval of the AllSpark is only half the mission. They have to bring it back to base as well. Cog notices a package. They cautiously go to retrieve what they discover is simply highly concentrated energon. Impactor watches from above as they take the bait. He shoots the energon, severely injuring Cog. Barricade gets the upper hand on Chromia, using the dust and fog to his advantage. He holds her at gunpoint but Hound saves her. Episode 2

Mirage cloaks himself as a Decepticon and approaches Spinister and Skytread. His cloak malfunctions, and they draw their weapons. However, Chromia covers him, shooting from higher up. Optimus, Elita, and Wheeljack jump into action.

Elita, Optimus, Chromia, Wheeljack, and Mirage arrive at a theater. They are confronted by Ratchet. They’ve come in hopes that he’ll help fix the Spacebridge. However, Ratchet doesn’t do that work anymore. They follow him inside, where he has set up a clinic for injured bots. Ratchet refuses to go back to that life. He pulls out a blaster and demands that they leave. When Mirage prepares for a fight, Impactor tackles him to the ground. They can’t believe that he’s healed Impactor, a known Decepticon. Ratchet agrees to allow Optimus, Elita, Chromia, and Wheeljack to stay long enough for them to plead their case. He has no desire to help them fix the Spacebridge. However, upon learning that Megatron plans to weaponize the Allspark, he reconsiders. Episode 3

Chromia, Sideswipe, Ratchet, Impactor, and Mirage go to the Spacebridge. They’ll have 20 Astro-cycles to get in and repair it before the patrols circle back around. They work to get the Spacebridge up and running. Unfortunately, they are spotted by the patrol. Impactor saves Ratchet from the gunfire, using his body as a shield. Chromia manages to take out all three Seekers. Episode 4

Ratchet and Impactor have restored the Spacebridge. Mirage and Chromia join them. Sideswipe watches from above for Decepticons. Once the bridge is activated, it will draw the attention of every Seeker in the area. They start the Spacebridge to ensure that it works, which it does, attracting Seekers in the process. Mirage manages to use his cloaking ability to hide the Spacebridge from the incoming Seekers. No longer able to hold the mirage cloaking the Spacebridge, Mirage passes out. He is drained of energy and weak. Forcing Chromia and Sideswipe to fight the Seekers. Episode 5

Sideswipe, Chromia, Ratchet, and Impactor defend the Spacebridge while the Autobots escape with the AllSpark. Afterward, Red Alert and Chromia find Elita and ask if the Ark made it. She replies they didn’t. Saying that everyone died on the ship. It's solely up to them to stop Megatron. They are joined by Jetfire. Episode 6

Chapter 2: Earthrise[]

Chromia, Red Alert, Elita One, and Jetfire kill two seekers after coming across a group of wounded Decepticons being kept as prisoners by their own kind. Red Alert informs Elita that he received intel from Steeljaw. He’s infiltrated one of the largest prison camps they’ve seen. Elita tells Chromia that the camp is deep in Kaon, so they have to plan accordingly and prep for survivors.

They stake out the prison camp in Kaon. They fear they’re walking into a trap as the fortress is lightly guarded, but they proceed nonetheless. Chromia shoots down the guards on the tower while Red Alert and Elita race inside, taking out the guards at the front.

They arrive at the prison camp and take out numerous Decepticons. However, they proceed to walk into a trap set by Starscream, who then takes them to Megatron, who has been draining bots of their energon. Episode 1 (Earthrise)

Starscream places Elita back in her cell after a conversation with Metatron. Red Alert, Jetfire, and Chromia wonder what she’s learned. Elita didn’t learn much. But she doesn’t think that Megatron has even told his own men why he’s harvesting their energon. Jetfire surmises that they’re building a weapon. They then try to break their way out of their cell but fail to do so successfully. They can’t even send a distress signal as HQ is deserted and Omega Supreme has been down since Crystal City fell. Skytread catches Jetfire, Elita, Red Alert, and Chromia trying to sneak away. Surprisingly, he means to help them. While he’s not an Autobot sympathizer, he also doesn’t condone Project Nemesis. Episode 2 (Earthrise)

Elita One, Jetfire, Red Alert, and Chromia lead the old beaten and battered Decepticons to the old theater. They’re forced to scatter and hide when Seekers approach. Scarface then gets a Decepticon-wide transmission from Shockwave, who explains that Megatron has ordered all Decepticons to report to Kaon Arena. He claims that they have energon to protect them. Elita suspects that Shockwave’s luring them to the arena to harvest their sparks. Episode 3 (Earthrise)

While Elita One sets charges in the arena, Red Alert, Jetfire, Chromia, Scrapface, and the remaining bots find themselves under attack by cloaked Decepticons. Chromia saves them from being taken into the arena by the Decepticons, shooting down their enemies, including Skytread despite the fact that he helped them escape last time. Episode 6 (Earthrise)

Timelines[]

Chromiatoydie

Don't you hate it when you show up at a party and your friend arrived in the same deco?

  • Descent into Evil (multi-pack, 2005)
    • Accessories: Launcher, missile, scope, 2 tailpipes, energon chip
Available only as part of BotCon 2005's "Descent into Evil" set (along with Buzzclaw, Deathsaurus, Dirge, Fallback, Ironhide and Ricochet, Chromia is a retool of Energon Arcee, transforming into a Cybertronic racing motorcycle. She has multiple clear-plastic "energon" parts that form side-thrusters in bike mode, and combine to form a massive compound bow with a spring-loaded missile.
The toy was originally intended to be Moonracer, but Fun Publications could not secure the trademark on the name. As such, Chromia's toy is in Moonracer's teal and white colors and has a head that resembles Moonracer's. (Fun Publications' intent was for the head to be a compromise between the Moonracer and Firestar head designs.)
Her base mold is also used by Flamewar and the live-action movieverse Arcee and Elita-One, while the Chromia-retooled version is also used by Flareup.
