In several of the larger figures, notably the ultra, leader, and supreme classes, batteries are included in the figure itself, with which to power the electronic lights and/or sounds. As of late, the brand that is typically included, at least in the North American release of the figures, is Hasbro's own POWRFUEL. Figures will typically require two AA size batteries, and the ones packaged with the figure have a remarkably long shelf life; often remaining in the figure for several years without any deterioration in the quality of the light or sound produced.
