A few days (or weeks, I honestly can't remember much at this point) I posted on this wiki (for those reading this one another platform that I am posting this on: transformers.fandom.com) that I finally understood and figured out the Transformers Multiverse because I had figured it out. Now the post did not get much attention because well I'm just some random person making a post on a subject not many people knew about or cared. Anyway, some people did respond and I noticed someone had no idea the Transformers Multiverse even existed in which an admin replied that it doesn't as Transformers used continuity rather than Multiverse. And while the admin wasn't completely correct they also weren't wrong either, and I can explain how now that I understand. I don't know why I didn't decide to do this sooner:
Anyway, I read the tfwiki.net/wiki which is the more official Transformers wiki and a kind of spin off of Wikipedia. And I read their page on the Multiverse and it made me understand how the Transformers Multiverse works. As people who are fans of Marvel and DC you likely know how those Multiverses work.
Marvel Multiverse:
It tends to be a singular timeline with a multitude of branches showing alternate realities along with other timelines not connected that have their own branches. Branched timelines can be caused by a multitude of things including time travel.
DC Multiverse:
DC timelines are more flexible rather than the past and present being set in stone, they have Back to the Future rules when it comes to time travel. So, how does the DC Multiverse exist? Simple, stuff like Hypertime, there just are alternate universes with different rules.
Alright with that information that people will probably skip over (I honestly don't know) now to explain the Transformers Multiverse:
Now the Transformers Multiverse has been explored within some stories whether it's the original G1 cartoon, the Marvel comic, IDW, or even Cyberverse. However, it's been explained how it worked, basically the Transformers Multiverse takes every other franchise's Multiverse and flips it on its head. While there are multiple universes, Transformers does not treat every universe as separate. For example in the comics some characters from different universe have been treated as being from the same universe. Now this may be making you dizzy already and your brain may be exploding trying to understand me, but stay with me it'll make sense in a moment.
Basically while they are alternate universes, Transformers does not seem to care and would use characters from either universe for the other. Here are some examples:
The original G1 cartoon and the current comic the "Energon Universe" are clearly different:
In G1, Starscream accidentally revived the autobots by shooting the Ark
In the Energon Universe, Jetfire revived both the autobots and decepticons and as soon as Starscream was revived he (spoilers) shot and killed Bumblebee
Now clearly these are 2 different universes, right?
Well guess what, they both exist within G1, before you get all angry; IDW, WFC Trilogy, Dreamwave, and Hearts of Steel despite all being different universes all exist within G1 as well. I could give more examples, in any case, Transformers prefers to use continuity rather than alternate universes. But fear not for those of you confused, Transformers has universal streams which for those of you who read and write the wiki (either of them) probably already know about. Universal Streams are basically what you would see on Marvel and DC your "earth" designations with the only difference being they don't start with earth they start with titles like "Primax" or "Tyran" or some stuff like that. Primax is the G1 universal cluster of the Multiverse where you have all your G1 alternate universes that all exist in the G1 continuity despite being an alternate universe. For those of you who would like to know the G1 streams you probably find the most popular, here you go:
Primax 984.17 Alpha - The original G1 cartoon universe
Primax 1086.01 Alpha - The universe in which the controversial episode "Dark Awakening" takes place (for those of you who have good memory, you know what I'm talking about)
Primax 984.0 Gamma - The universe where the US Marvel comic takes place
Primax 984.20 Gamma - The universe where the UK Marvel comic takes place
Primax 1005.19 Gamma - The IDW G1 universe
Primax 302.06 Gamma - The Dreamwave G1 universe
Primax 706.05 Gamma - Hearts of Steel universe
If you'd like anymore universal streams, ask and I'll send a link
